  1. Out of stock, but... https://www.socomtactical.net/jg-aep-battery-charger-adapter/ https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/ipower-charger-adapter-for-lipo-aep-batteries I have the top one and also a version of the lower one that a friend sorted for me. Works great.
  2. I'd like to do a modern tacticool high-speed m4 setup with my 2nd MWS, but all the real-steel parts are expensive. So instead I decided to use what I already had to do a retro build instead.
  3. One of the marshalls at my local site used one as a juggernaut and it was very amusing observing the carnage from a concealed spot; front row seats to the spectacle!
  4. I came here to complain about em kays and now you're all talking about plastics. Don't think I've ever refered to my mk23 as an em kay 23. Mark 23 is easier to say anyway.
  5. I think some good reasons have already been given, but it could also be impacted by people getting into the sport and learning to do basic teching over time. Once you know how to change out a hop rubber, nub and barrel, you can get a Cyma, change out those parts and have a gun that shoots better than a TM for a fraction of the price. Could be impacted by airsofter's wives too. "You spent what on that new gun?"
  6. Was good to get out today to Worthing Airsoft for my regularly scheduled skirmish experience. Was the first game day in a month so I was eager to play, however it is at the end of the first week of my new exercise regime so I was very tired. I was collecting two of my m14s from a local tech and I wanted to experiment with my VSR with its new widebore barrel, so I had a lot to do between all the experimentation and also zeroing the LPVO and setting the hop on my short m14. However, as I attended the safety brief they went over the first game of the day being an all-morning game with a whole load of different objectives all over the site so I instead decided to quickly set my VSR up for 2.3J and headed out for the morning. It started slow. We were almost getting spawn-camped, but there was enough space to get out so I headed to our base and set up a position to defend in a nice little sniping spot that I love to use. However... nobody was approaching in my arc of fire. I cautiously pushed up to try and get better shots but I didn't find anyone for a while, but I eventually got into a place where I had a line on a barricade that the enemy team were fond of using. The shots weren't easy, especially as I realised my hop was wonky and all my shots were arcing right. I also realised I had a great line on a holly bush and was posting shots into there as well and got a LOT of hits from that position. I played around that area through the rest of the game, moving between a few shooting positions and hitting about 16 people across the hour or so I was playing there. I finally got hit by someone who got rather angry with me and it made me chuckle. It was a ghillie with a proper MTW wankergun build, spraying BBs at about 25rps on full auto. I lay behind a tree and tucked myself in while he spammed full auto in the tree and started yelling "there's no way you're not hit, just call it!" at me, but nothing was hitting me as I was keeping close to the ground behind it. There was a marshall standing right next to me and I was just laughing while looking to the marshall just seeing how many of his BBs I could make him waste (it was a LOT). Eventually one did hit me and I called it, went off and respawned and then hurried back to a spot that I could draw a line of sight onto his position as he hadn't moved. Took him out with a single shot and took up a position defending the base again, but by this point most of our team had decided to go in for an early lunch, leaving me and another sniper as the only base defenders. Two bolt action rifles are not good for holding, so while we took out a bunch of them without getting spotted, they just bullied into our base and stole all our objectives at the end, so we very much lost the game After lunch I decided to do all my tweaking and setup and... I've created two monsters. The short m14 was shooting absolutely phenomenally and the LPVO was easy to zero, which was good as I wasn't sure how the mount would be on the Cyma m14, but the G&P low mount worked really well. It was firing 1.06J on .32s, it was snappy, quiet for an AEG and slinging those .32s fairly accurately to about 60m. Very accurate on the 50m target, hitting it literally every single time too. The second monster was as I was experimenting with the VSR. I got the widebore so I could try and run it at 1.1J, as with the 6.03 in there it was 1.4J on 80psi, which is the lowest operating pressure for the Wolverine Bolt. With the widebore it was right on the 1.1J money, with the lowest shot being 1.096J and the highest being 1.111J. The hop was still off and the BBs were arcing, however what I discovered was that on 80psi the VSR was disgustingly quiet. My friend stood about 2m in front of it and couldn't hear it firing, and I shot past my other friend as he was trying to work out what was wrong with his bazooka and he didn't notice at all. I'll probably still run it at 2.3J for now, as the site is fairly open (and it really isn't during summer) and you won't hear the 2.3J sound at 30m away, but seeing how it performed and, most importantly, sounded on 1.1J was disgusting. Not too long either as it's an internally suppressed Maple Leaf bull barrel. Next private game we do at the UCAP Bunker I might put a red dot on it and run it there... Also, the other thing I realised today was how quickly exercise makes a difference. This was the first week I've done my new training regime (I swim 1km every weekday) and... airsoft was nowhere near as difficult as it was before Christmas. Going to be continuing the regime as I have some tablets to help mitigate my heart symptoms when it pops up, so hopefully as I drop the weight and put on a bit more lean muscle it'll just get easier and easier.
  7. Not at our power limits. I tend to zero my scopes on the 75m target at my local site and I can hit the 85m target semi-consistently as long as there's no wind (can hit it with wind, but there's more luck involved at that point), but anything further is a mix of calculation and luck, as you have to arc the BBs and hope they don't stray off course for whatever reason. At the end of the day, we're firing air or gas powered muskets and they will never be "precision rifles". In terms of which is the best, that is down to personal preference. For example, a lot of people would disagree with me when I say that the Tanaka m700 platform is the best overall platform because it's gas powered and therefore not quite as consistent as spring or HPA (some people HPA tap the mags, but I prefer the VSR platform for HPA builds). If you spend a lot of time learning exactly how the Tanaka m700 platform works, and you have the patience to tweak it at the start of every game day, then the Tanaka m700 platform is the best since you can still get it more than consistent enough for airsoft, they shoot just as far, just as accurately, the bolt pull is effortless and they're incredibly silent. However, if you don't learn the ins and outs and tweak it every game day then they're awful. For user-friendliness, I'm very fond of the VSR platform, so anything VSR-based would be my recommendation. If you already have an SSG10, that's what I'd use. Get it running close to 2.3J on at least .45s, but preferably .48s, with a good hop setup and you'll be golden.
  8. He doesn't do courier service, but if you're in the south east you can look up Adzzzy's Armoury (Facebook, Youtube). He's based in West Sussex and has worked on all of my AEGs that have had issues, since I don't like AEG gearboxes. Never had a bad experience with his work, but you have to be able to drop it off to him as I don't think he likes dealing with postal stuff.
  9. Super impressed by Orga and Japanese post. Ordered something like... a week ago, it was sent on the 6th and Parcelforce already attempted to deliver it yesterday (10th).

And by attempt to deliver, I mean they shoved a card through my door without knocking. Getting them to redeliver it to my local post office so I'll have my VSR widebore barrel ready for this Sunday's skirmish!

If my own experience is anything to go by, the larger part of the journey was probably through the bowels of the Post Office system!

  10. I've got a bunch of the 65rds mid caps and they're great. Really good with an mp5k to keep the weapon profile incredibly small.
  11. I told you all I was waiting for something expensive to arrive... MWS #2 will be a short barreled rifle. Will have a modern and a retro build for it, but will likely just go retro most of the time.
  12. I have a load of Cyma 30 round red ones and they're great. Never had any issues in my spring shotty
  13. Going to look into rain X for my scopes. It's always a pain in the butt when it rains heavy as most of my collection are long guns with scopes!
  14. If it's really wet, I tend to ditch optics altogether, which is part of the reason I like having back up irons on guns where possible. However, to guard against rain moisture I use flip up scope covers and I just obsessively keep them shut until I'm in a position to shoot (and probably with the rifle horizontal). For fogging... you can put anti-fog on scopes the same as you can put it on your eyepro. The microfibre cloth is a good idea, but make sure you keep it away from the elements as if it gets too wet/dirty you'll just be smearing wet dirt over your scope.
  15. Haha, you're not the only one. I'm waiting on my rather expensive new toy to arrive and we're only 1 week into the new year...
  16. They don't make too much difference with GBBs and AEGs, but they make more of a difference than you realise. With GBBs you have the sound of the slide if pistol or the bolt if rifle going back and forth and with AEGs you have the sound of the gearbox, however in both cases a foam-filled suppressor will dull the popping sound as the air or gas escapes the inner barrel. This is more pronounced in gas guns than AEGs, but it happens in both. Also, the gearbox noise and action of the gas blowback are near your head, so you hear them more, however your muzzle will be, or at least it should be, pointed towards the enemy. I did some testing with a friend where I walked down the range to hear what guns sounded like from the other end, and you'd be surprised what a difference muffling that popping sound makes even in AEGs and GBBs. With spring it helps, but you still have the noise of the piston slamming forward. However, gas non-blowbacks and HPA guns will love having a suppressor on them, as that popping sound of the gas or air expanding as it leaves the barrel is most of the noise and it's heavily muffled with a good suppressor. I've had people standing about 10m in front of me and not hearing a single shot with my m40 and m700 because they're suppressed and the only noise is a faint click of the hammer. Same thing with HPA, there's no real noise to speak of outside of the air expanding as it leaves the barrel.
  17. Driver Wood occasionally do car boot sales, but no idea when the next one is.
  18. I'll preface this all by saying that my favourite bolt action platform is the Tanaka m700 system. While Tanaka may be incredibly hard to get now, KJW m700s are easier, but still not easy, to find and they're phenomenal rifles (I literally have 2, plus a Tanaka and they're my go-to bolt actions). However, I wouldn't advise buying one if you're just looking to get into sniping because they're incredibly fussy and require a lot of patience, since every game day you have to tweak them to make sure the power is where you want it, since temperature will affect power due to being powered by green gas. You can HPA them, but in my opinion it's impractical as you have to HPA tap the mags, meaning every time you reload you have to detach and reattach the hose, where a HPA VSR you don't have to do that. With that said... In my opinion, the VSR platform is still king due to just how much stuff is out there for it. Some people love the SRS (I don't!), and apparently the Steyr Scout and the Tac41 are pretty decent, but the VSR10 platform still reigns supreme in my opinion due to the sheer amount of aftermarket parts. I also think it depends how much you're willing to get into the thick of it and how much you value certain things. Generally, buying an expensive TM VSR over a JG BAR10 or Cyma cm.701b isn't worth it as you're basically removing all the internals anyway, so why spend that extra £70 on a TM? Having done multiple VSR builds, I would personally always go for the TM, even if I'm replacing everything inside. Part of it is that I think the G-Spec is the superior option over the regular rifle, and I don't think you can get a clone G-Spec rifle. The other part of it is the tiny fraction of a millimetre tolerances and slight quality of life differences. Firstly, the sling mounts on the JG are awful and I've had to loctite mine in. Secondly, not everything will fit perfectly in a clone rifle. I found that the 50rd Action Army magazines are very fussy with my JG BAR10 and I've found myself just running the regular 35rd TM magazines as the Action Army mags would sometimes have feeding issues, or they wouldn't click into place properly. That said, for 99% of people the clone ones are absolutely fine. I'm just very picky! Also, when it comes to "sniping", @Tackle is completely right in saying that fieldcraft and mindset is more important than your rifle. I've played the sniper role with (a lot of) bolt actions, DMRs and regular rifles, and very little changes in how I play. It's more about the stealth and picking your shots than having a 2.3J bolt action with an MED. Also, if you go the whole way into it, it's honestly more about observation than shooting; one of the best sniper games I've had involved me not firing a single shot all game, but I was concealed and constantly calling out enemy movements over the radio to some other guys on my team, so we always knew what the other team was doing. Even had a patrol of about 8 of them walk right in front of me and one crouched down about 50cm to my right. When it comes to actually shooting, the words of some German guys I used to play airsoft with in Spain will always resonate with me as I feel they encapsulated airsoft sniping so well in one simple sentence: "it's not how many you hit, but how you hit them." You'll never (well, incredibly rarely to the point where it's a statistical anomaly) get as many hits in game using a bolt action rifle as you would with a regular AEG, but every hit you do get will feel so much better!
  19. I've been pondering this very same question for months and the conclusion I came to was just to get the VFC. The TM is good, but it's a very old design and I just feel like it's the worse choice, though the TM mp7 still performs really well because at the end of the day it's a TM GBB
  20. I've ordered direct from Evike before and had no issues? Failing that, contact Evike EU and they may be able to get stuff over for you.
  21. For internal and external parts it doesn't have to be expensive for most GBBRs (at least not the ones I've bought). However, when mags are anywhere between £40 - £60 per magazine, that's where it starts getting really expensive, since you typically need a fair few as they're 35-50ish rounds per mag, depending on the gun. I don't want to think about how much I spent on RIFs alone. This year was a year where I basically almost completed my collection of "all the guns I want, within reason", including a couple of hard to get items. I'll get the rest in 2024 (2 GBBRs and 3 GBB pistols), but I think next year will mostly be me getting scopes, extra magazines, lights and other external bits to 100% "complete" all my guns, plus a helmet setup to go with a CQB kit. I don't think I have any massive regrets from my purchases this year though. Trying to make my 1911 super-efficient and basically making it not work was probably the worst, but that wasn't too expensive all-in as pistol builds are fairly easy to do on a light budget (and I bought another one 2nd hand so I still have a nice 1911 that works flawlessly and I stuck the entire upgraded hop and barrel setup in that one, so that wasn't wasted money). A few really good purchases came out of this year though. KWA mac11 is a disgusting little beast of a gun, and the Modelworks mk12 parts for my MWS and m40 stock kit for my m700 have basically made them mainstays of my collection. All I need to do is resist the temptation to do a silly HPA build with the tank in the stock, like an SR-25 or some sort of MTW built like a mk12 with a wraith X stock. Or buy something like a thermal scope. That stuff's expensive.
  22. I know a lot of people talk about GHK AKs, but the new TM AKs are absolutely phenomenal. I think my AKM performs better than my MWS
  23. In terms of backups, 100% a good idea to bring a backup. I never go to a skirmish day, let alone an event like AI500 or a filmsim weekend, without at least two primaries and two secondaries (because I tend to snipe, secondaries are important). Often at Vietnam filmsim weekends I'll have 3 primaries and 3 secondaries just in case.
  24. Hire guns will use high capacity magazines, which I believe does mean you need to pour the BBs in as you have been. What I tend to do is hold the magazine and use my finger and thumb to make a sort of funnel to make sure the BBs go in rather than spilling everywhere. When you get your own guns, you can get mid caps instead which don't have that same door that high caps have. Those need to be filled directly into the hole they feed into the RIF from as it's basically just a snaking canal through the magazine with a spring and follower, but I think if you do this with a high cap you might break it? I'm sure someone can confirm that, I just don't use them at all so I don't know.
