  1. What kind of thickness? Also whats the finish like?
  2. whilst i can see your point, there is still some rough and tumble which can lead to issues over time and a weaker gun isn't going to hold up the same. i mean just look at every site's rental guns for testament to that and whilst players do take better care of things that cost them personally, there's still leaning it against a tree where someone knocks it over, or dropping it, or leaning it against cover when shooting etc. i'm pretty sure you can drop a real mg42 from waist height and not break it but not the agm airsoft version..... granted the preference/feel/look/weight thing is generally the bigger factor. funny story many moons ago when a younger hamster was still renting he tripped, his mind filled with "shit shit don't break the gun" and somehow (to this day i don't know where the grace came from) excecuted a perfect forward roll ics m4 tucked in his belly and emerged spreadeagled on the ground both himself and rifle completely unscathed to the merry chuckling of all who observed. real sword, although e&l's ak's are pretty tough in some regards, although granted the barrel mounting isn't remotely as solid as a real ak as you can't press-fit and pin a part that you later need to remove. never worked on a real sword so not sure how they get around that problem, unless you have to pull the hop unit off the back and slide the inner barrel out the front.
  3. yeah, this is my thinking with the g11, prominently featured in a mainstream video game is enough to get a lot of guns made (eg the ww1 surge after bf1 released) but despite the g11 being surely an easy gun to mass produce being literally a plastic box it hasn't happened. i do agree there, the budget end is extremely well catered for but it seems the higher end stuff can have quite the limitations. but then i suppose what premium stuff is on the market (like the higher end gbbr's and systema's) proves the market really doesn't want to support such things.
  4. i really wish i was making that up. i can imagine the conversation: "hey jonjoe you doin a run over the border?" "aye paddy got a wagon o' salmon for the market" "mind droppin off a parcel at the post office while you're at it?" etc....
  5. tbh it's a wonder there's as much variety as there is in airsoft, but there are plenty of guns that aren't catered to. the bren is a good example (although afaik there is a zb26 out there) and the sks. the makarov at least has a decent offering in the WE version, doesn't like the cold but with a little tweaking it's a very passable gat as a holster-filler. not just guns either, optics, especially russian ones (that aren't a PSO) are quite poorly covered with only a couple of decent clones for the likes of the PK-A or Kobra. fortunately this is balanced by the real ones being both available and not insanely expensive as RS optics go. i think the problem is it's just so easy to do AR variants, mill out a worn-out mould to a chunkier style, change the handguard/stock and bam you have a "new" gun (psst, it's still an AR....) also how has nobody done a G11? that must surely be one of the easiest wacky aeg's you could make.....
  6. given how bad the irish side of the postal system is that's quite impressive. there was an irish shop on amazon i got some stuff from and it took a month to arrive and stank of fish, this was pre-brevid too. honestly i wonder if in some parts they're just handing packages to lorry drivers who are going in vaguely the right direction.
  7. this is curious to hear, as an outsider to the world of modded up hicapa's i thought mike was one of the go-to guys? although perhaps that impression was misplaced
  8. if memory serves i'm not sure i'd want you to put them up for sale. mans bank balance can't take that kind of pressure
  9. a fair point, regardless they need to be well constructed, good support and comfort for a days running around, doesn't matter how premium your gat is if you're unable to walk by the end of the day thanks to blisters and aches in your feet. good shout on the eyepro too- another area you don't wanna skimp on.
  10. a fair point. only tm i ever had was about 4th hand by the time i got it, so plenty broke in.
  11. have heard this about the ol' hicapas. wonder if marui is intentionally building them with tighter tolerances than are really needed just to they can loosen into normal functionality where a WE will loosen into rattle city?
  12. as others have mentioned it's important to be clear on what the budget includes. is it £300 for just the gat, or gat, mags, batteries, charger, bag of bb's, eyepro, webbing etc is gonna make a massive difference to what's an appropriate recommendation for us to make. the other kit you have can be just as important/useful as your pew, for example if you're lacking a really good pair of boots and want to play outdoors then investing £100+ in a good solid pair is going to do more for increasing your in-game enjoyment than the same amount spent on a pew.
  13. Fuckin spiders man.

If you dont hear from me after a few days i've either died from sleep deprevation, accidental incineration or radiation poisoning.

This is no guarantee of my success so i reccommend relocation to an extrasolar location just to be sure.

  14. Oh yeah that'll be fine with the regular gas tube. It may still require filing to fit, but thats the ak life....
  15. Which version? Most of the ak lower handguard systems tend to be setup that you can run a standard upper handguard.
  16. pretty sure the one on here with the custom fitted f2 only sold for 600, so 500 for the standard aeg version is absolutely a bargain....... i mean f2's are worth £100 secondhand right?
  17. well apart from the gearbox being the aforementioned couple of screws the barrel pops out with the same quick release mechanism as the real m60 (kinda nifty tbh) which gives you access to the hop unit. that's pretty much all you need to service/tinker with the gun, after that it's a case of just unscrewing things as and when you see them. been a while since i tinkered with an m60 so can't really help with much more specific than that.
  18. how far do you want to go? if it's just pulling the gearbox out it's only a couple of screws in the side of the reciever
  19. that's a thing? from what little night time shenanigans i've done with my old gen 1 the only thing that seems to show up under IR is eyeballs and other people putting out IR can't say i noticed camo/skin/guns etc being any shinier than the rest of the environment
  20. in fairness that's just ky airsoft for you. i ended up cancelling part of an order because they hadn't sent it despite being re-stocked and available on their website (this is several months after the initial order and before covid kicked off), then then tried to trick the paypal case with the old "close the case and we'll refund you" (when paypal explicitly states doing that will mean you can't re-open if they renege on their promise) they then haggled over the postage cost, which i'd estimated using their own website for the parts in the order. eventually paypal stepped in and gave me my money back (which is why we love paypal) but i'll be trying to avoid them where possible from now on. shame because they are the only stockists for a lot of the more niche WE spares.
  21. it's standard for ups, they pulled it on me for an f2000 hop unit......
  22. assuming it feeds, can't think why it wouldn't if it's running ok on lighter.
  23. agree on magnification, absolutely unnessecary for getting a hit, but very useful for target identification and shot-tracking (unlike real steel we can't rely on dirt splashes/target reactions). i tend to find when i ran a variable on the m4 that it sat at around 4x constantly and i'd be using the stacked dot for 99% of shots.
  24. honestly a lot of it just falls down to personal preference. for example i'd suggest the fc1 as a not massively expensive but decent little red dot, low profile and not out of place on a carbine. but if you don't like the look of it then it's not for you, and there's nothing wrong with that. likewise some folk don't like mini rds's like rmr's on a rifle, again a personal preference thing.
