  1. in that case, for lmg type use (ie a lot of auto) then the extra features of the warfet like burst fire/precocking are irrelevant, so you might as well buy a cheaper unit that just does what you need. unless ofc you maybe want to set it up to hot swap to other guns where, with a bit of reprogramming, you'd be able to benefit from the additional functionality, or you don't care about cost then yes, a warfet will do what you want.
  2. Odin solves that problem very quickly.....
  3. no real right/wrong answer for this. personally i prefer mid caps in 90-140 round range, a bit more ammo to make up for the issues of wind/leaves etc but still has reloading as a factor compared to just having a box mag etc. but if you wanna change up the dynamic and try running them on lower capacity why not, especially if you don't need to buy a whole new set of mags to do so.
  4. I dunno, for decent companies with reputations to uphold i doubt they're gonna want to be caught mis-advertising safety products. Literally a lawsuit waiting to happen. Granted they wont be testing every pair that's made, but that applies to many products (eg car airbags). Ofc knock off amazon specials aren't going to give a damn, which is why those who care want to trust their eyes to companies with decent rep like bolle and products with proper ratings.
  5. might be they're b rated and the site has it wrong stating f. they also seem to have ANSI Z87+, which some rough calculation appears to be ~3j equivalent for its high velocity test (1/4" steel ball at 170mph). regular Z87 by the same math works out 1.06j. if this thread shows anything it's the absolute cluster that is trying to figure out if something's been tested to a high enough energy for our uses
  6. it's the F suffix to the en166:2001 this should also be marked somewhere on the frame: https://www.wiseworksafe.com/blog/view/understanding-en-166-personal-eye-protection-standard#:~:text=It tests the oculars and,to goggles and face shields.
  7. you'd think, given i literally wrote the energy thresholds for each letter suffix earlier in the thread, that i'd have seen that.....
  8. fair enough, my google done been lying to me cos there was basically 3 shops came up for "dickies sp1045", none of whom mentioned any rating and i done checked as far as page 3..... kinda surprising, you'd think that the major selling point of any pair of safety goggles would be telling people if they conformed to an internationally recognized safety rating...... edit: scratch that, see @Lozart's post below.....
  9. the price being low as you say isn't the issue, the issue is having some form of assurance that the product has some kind of rating, hence why i asked for the source on them being en166 rated. there's also the question of factor of safety. taking a [insert maximum field limit] hit point blank is one thing, but there's also the issue that they might be asked to deal with higher than that in an unlikely but not impossible scenario of tripping over your local kickingmustang who will swear blind they didn't see you so close they were shooting at someone behind you check the footage bruv. whilst i'm sure such a scenario could and possibly would descend into quite the interesting set of lawsuits centering pretty much around the modern incarnation of an eye for an eye, i'm not sure it'd be much consolation to an involuntary cyclops, or the community as a whole that could do without the bad PR. ultimately it's on each individual to make a decision as to what level of risk they're willing to accept in the pursuit of sport, certainly airsoft is generally by comparison to many other hobbies a relatively safe one, but that's no reason not to at least try and make an informed decision as to the efficacy of the equipment you're using to prevent potential injury.
  10. true, this remains a constant possibility, but by the sounds of it any such problem will be one of those unavoidable part compatibility issues, and at least the zci's aren't massively expensive.
  11. got a source for that? some googling i've not found anywhere referencing an image of these things conforming to en166 or what impact rating they'd have within that standard. EN166 has 3 different standards for impact rating. the low velocity impact (F) is ~0.86j which means they can crack at airsoft velocities the medium energy impact (B) is ~6j, so well above any reasonable airsoft standard and the high (A) further still (iirc ~15j) ofc passing a standard is only a minimum, so it's possible for something marked en166f can still be strong enough for airsoft given it's a fair bit to go before it'd be strong enough for the b rating. ofc if you want to gamble your one and only pair of eyes finding out then that's your personal choice, although personally i'd not enjoy having the associated PR if that goes south. op- at a bare minimum before you field those i'd be asking someone with a bolt action (at appropriate bolt action energies, ie not a 1.1j no-MED gun) at the local site to put a round straight into them point blank, might sound overkill but we live in a world where kickingmustang exists.
  12. must admit my experience with AI products has definitely been on the "good idea, poorly implemented" side of things. the kind of products that'd work great if made to decent tolerances, but then not made to the required level of tolerance.
  13. 1 is pretty damn good, taking that at face value i'd say it's into the territory where you'll notice a better barrel.
  14. what's the variance? ie the range of fps you get over a few shots? short of actual range testing that's the best indicator for potential accuracy. guess it boils down to your budget, if you want to keep the cost of the barrel aside in case something else needs changed, but if you've got the money then why not take out one more variable?
  15. hard one to call, but i'd worry about field testing it first, get a baseline. the inner barrel tends to have less of an impact on performance than factors like air seal or hop quality, so i'd look to getting that side of things dialed in first before worrying about it. on the other hand, the zci's are decent, and depending on your long term goals you might figure it's worth dropping in now rather than later if you're committed to taking the build far enough to utilise it.
  16. Same, its tricky because ukara has had years to build up recognition with sites, retailers and even non-airsoft entities like customs and courier companies. Thats a hell of a mountain for any new system has to climb especially in the early days when folk will be hesitant to adopt in case it doesnt work out. I say that in the hope, if not perhaps expectation that some day a hero will arise.
  17. it's a hard line to draw as everyone's going to have different standards. eg someone might think a given gun is shit if it can't go 3 more than full mags between gassing in the middle of winter, others might consider anything that can fire it's RS capacity (usually less than the actual capacity) per fill in reasonably rapid order under most conditions good enough. same with longevity, some folks might shoot their holster-filler so rarely that it takes 15 years to accumulate the kind of round count someone else's stockless primary could rack up in a day. certainly whilst i'll admit marui pistols generally trend towards better performance when treated properly, that doesn't mean that other brands are worth discounting depending on what the individuals wants/needs are. as long as people have reasonable expectations then that's all we can do.
  18. i tend to go for the natural weathering, i won't go out of my way to make a gun look battered but i won't lose sleep over any marks it picks up along the way. the issue with intentional ageing/weathering is whilst some folks can do an amazing job and make something that looks awesome, it seems so very easy to mess it up and have something that doesn't look right.
  19. suppose that's not too bad for the price point, as you've mentioned the main issue is the longevity of the switches.
  20. what sort of functionality are we talking? the thing i'm mainly thinking about is what does this offer that the likes of an ab++ or warfet doesn't? as those options have the added benefit of being universal fitment? only thing i'm seeing is the ability to grub screw mod the trigger for dem mouseclicks.
  21. was blocked when i was looking on mobile earlier citing copyright infringement, although not on pc for some reason.... the title is "brass eye- american gun crime" i'm sure there's variants that the bots haven't got to yet.
  22. i don't necessarily disagree, i'm just saying if we start going fully down that rabbit hole it's just gonna end in a row.
  23. guys, dude's new to this place, tempting as it is we don't need to jump straight on him just for being from a country with a different take on civilian firearm ownership. @truckinthumper don't take it personally, as i'm sure you can understand American firearm culture is as confusing and controversial to us as i'm sure British firearm culture is to you.
