If you are just going to be target shooting you may want to look at air pistols rather than Airsoft. There are lots of air pistols which are basically the same as the Airsoft version just in 4.5mm rather than 6mm.

Does the replica have to be of a massed produced gun and if there is only one real fire arm does it not class as a RIF? That brings up the question does an Airsoft pistol carbine kit fitted with a pistol count as a RIF as there now a casing disguising it origin and therefore not based on a real fire arm?

You can just makes it hard to remove the motor as you'll have to de-solder it every time. I would see if you can get parts 1st then worse case you can solder it directly.

I am looking for recommendations for stainless steel effect paints for the grips and a hard wearing clear coat to protect the finish that's fairly idiot proof to used.
