I love pistol, I love 1911, I love UK
Rogerborg replied to robertdeniyo's topic in New Players & Arrivals
Do you have any strong feelings about airsoft though? -
For charging airsoft batteries? Very unlikely, as you'd have to step 5V up to something like 13V to charge an 11.1V (and actually peaking at 12.6V) lipo, and you'd be charging it at under 1A. What problem are you trying to solve? As in, what batteries do you already have? The default recommendation is a SkyRC S65 as a do-anything solution (caveat: unless there's something better and cheaper out there now).

Plus postage plus fees, mate. (His previous failed attempt to sell it wanted it collected for that price)

Last I heard, the Molyneux MAS-G was going to be an impact grenade, a timed grenade, a tripwire mine, a proximity mine, a location beacon, a WiFi hotspot, a coffee maker, and an intimate massager.

Pfft, airsofting as a pretend space soldier, the absolute state of it. Gizza go, mister.

One thing you wish you knew coming into airsoft?
Rogerborg replied to ODST's topic in General Discussion
Don't waste money on cheap snipers, anyway. Upgrades are often side-grades. Heavier BBs are the cheapest real upgrade. Most successful YouTubers are presenting a fictional narrative, not a documentary. The rules are more what you'd call guidelines. Play the way you'd like others to play, even and especially if your standards exceed those of the site's marshals and their mates. And meme magic is more real than Toyko Marui magic. -
The Depot used to ask, but (2nd hand anecdote) what ended strobes there was when a lad found out the hard way while standing at the top of some stairs. Even very bright and narrow beam weapon lights are a bit of a cad's trick. At some point you're not using them to see, but to avoid being seen.

Photosensitive epileptics will thank your local sites for pre-emptively banning that. Although of course now I'm intrigued as to how well the Ali Express ones actually work.
-
Yup, that's right. I didn't want to prompt the answer.

No picture of username and date, scammer reported.

I wouldn't be at all surprised, I've seen plenty of folk on Facebook ask "wut bb wait 2 get undar 350?" entirely sincerely.
-
I expect most of us are kind of obsessive, it attracts our type. There are some cautionary tales in here though.
-
Eh. It's a CYMA, it probably came shooting hotter than the burning rage of a thousand suns. I'd note that it's £275 to get it in your hands, in unknown condition, and that there's no username + date evidence in the single picture. It doesn't appear to have been swiped from anywhere else, and the bloke does have positive feedback, but I don't find that total price remotely tempting for a used sale.

It's very site-dependent. Some are all over it, want to see you chronoing with a fresh bulb, and will spot check you during the day - which can be a problem as temperatures rise. Some are "Eh, pistol, mate, not bothered mate." Most are in the middle and will just ask if it's green gas (on you go, even if you're running the hottest propane around), or CO2 (put a few shots through with whatever bulb you have in there). Counter-point, I wish I'd got a plastic slide Glock as my metal slide AA R17 doesn't cycle well in the cold. Don't leave it on the dash in a hot car in the middle of summer, and even those horror stories are always about what happened to a mate's cousin's hairdresser's dog-walker.

Ahoy and welcome. Buying can get addictive, you might want to pause for a bit and just play (I mean, so we all say, don't ask what we do). Good call on trying something more immersive. Even filmsim (casual milsim or themed days) knocks it up a big notch from a regular skirmish. CQB is also worth a try if you can find that locally, it's more intense.

Insert Stock Rant #3 about "lol m8 evry1 noews wut 350 meens m8".
-
Just to be absolutely sure, which way are you sliding to add hop?
-
Oh, I totally agree. It's shooting so hot that I'd want to get it down substantially with a spring change or cut, particularly if it's going to be used in CQB.
-
Maybe. Short barrelled guns can experience what I'm just about to coin as "Joule leak". I get sharply dropping energy in my MP5K as I move up to heavier BBs. It's worth a try, although I still reckon it'll want the spring cut or swapped. Since we don't know what's in it, I can't recommend a replacement. I'd guess that it's got an M120, so anything in the M100-M110 range (maybe up to M115) might do it. Always remembering that there are no standards in airsoft, so one brand/production run of "M100" could be radically different from another.

I've seen a BFG painted to look like a can of Irn Bru if that counts.
-
Solid plan. You want to be rat-a-tatting, not BRRRRTing.
-
Well, am I glad I added that caveat. Phew, that's a spicy little boi and no mistake. I honestly wouldn't have expected that from such a short barrel, although CYMAs M4 and AKs do run hotter than UK limits by design, and need down-sprung for the UK market. So what I'd assume here is that you've got one with something like an M120 spring in it that should have been down-sprung by the importer or retailer. No harm in asking them if they want to sort it as a warranty issue - it isn't fit for the purpose sold. If they laugh it off, it does seem like you'll need to replace or cut the spring, and disappointingly it doesn't have a quick-change spring, so it'll be a gearbox out and open job. It can be quite intimidating the first time you do this, but it's not really that complicated. Just take it slowly and keep all the parts safe. Disassembly to the gearbox: This is a very comprehensive guide to working on a V3 gearbox. And yes, the trigger spring can be a bit of a sod during re-assembly. All you really need to do is to get it open and change the spring without touching anything else, but while you're in there you could lube and re-shim it (there are plenty of videos on that too)

Hi, I'm Gavin & I'm an addict...

Ahoy and welcome. Yes, you've found your people. Even my very modest stash of trash tier RIFs is far more than I can really use. No judgement, but do you actually play with them, or just collect? -
These are amazing pieces of work: I look forward to seeing them used one and then banned at my local sites.

Internal tracer mod for the AEGIS AFG-9
Rogerborg replied to MistakenMexican's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Nice idea, but is that that an Acetech Lighter-S in there? If so, I'd note that I've had two fail on me.
