Looking at Uttings site just now, the case I have seems to have been discontinued. I did note though that the Rapier metal case is only £20/£30 more than the Nuprol. Not sure on sizes, but the ally cases are buy once and forget about. I've had mine for years. Might be worth a look.

Some people swear by a 70deg rubber, but I've never managed to get one to work at sub 350. I have used a plain G&G nub with an ML but they seem to work better with the omegas that they are designed for.

Scientists have announced a new major study into the effects of cannabis on sea birds. They intend to leave no tern unstoned in their research.

I use an aluminium hard case from Uttings for HFT, it is flight standard, which may be useful one day. For treks to and from the carpark I use a sack barrow or carp barrow. Sack barrow for solo trips, carp barrow for several peoples kit. You do need to be careful about bungying the rifle case on securely mind. Such a setup traverses really rough ground and allows you to carry loads of kit with ease.

Have a look at MTM. Better quality IMHO than Nuprol, not that the Nuprol looks crap. Consider weight too. If you put all your kit in one case, you have to lug the thing around.

My dear mother was unfortunately afflicted with a beak rather than lips. Lovely woman but she had a fowl mouth.

Looking for decent pair of boots
Tactical Pith Helmet replied to matas17's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I can only wear milsurp boots or made to measures. Fit is everything. Many firms only do standard width. The milsurp stuff is size consistent too. Find what fits and you are safe to buy another pair online. German paras, British highlegs, etc are classics cos they work. I used to. Cheapo Redwoods were fine and had a welted sole. Several brands do safety or none safety versions, Cat for one. Unfortunately, my previous life as a ballet dancer meant that fit was not what it could have been. -
Our local neighbourhood association are arguing about whether we should complain about the woman next door. She spends half her time sunbathing naked in her garden. I'm on the fence myself.

Nuprol N79 Short (M79 Pirate gun)
Tactical Pith Helmet replied to Bourne4red's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
More or less @BigStew. I should have said that CYMA do a railed 40mm launcher that is so close to a cut down M79 that you could get it close enough to the rif pictured. I have one for Nam games and it's 10 yard rule OK. If the OP is willing to put the work in, it may be an option at the price. Thanks for the link mind! 👍 -
Nuprol N79 Short (M79 Pirate gun)
Tactical Pith Helmet replied to Bourne4red's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
The CYMA version is dirt cheap and has integral rails. Just another option. -
For themed games I have about a dozen none M4s. For skirmishing I use my tatty old G&G M4 all the time, with another for back up. The ergonomics are spot on. Its had so many shots through it that I carry a spare motor in my gunbag.

Looking for decent pair of boots

ECW surplus boots. Built like ultra tough hiking boots but all easy to clean and treat leather. Far too hot for me to run in, but fine for most folks. -
If you need to know the difference between a chickpea and a lentil, remember that no one has ever paid for a lentil on their chest.

Tm devgru; worth it at the price?
Tactical Pith Helmet replied to Bloodwing's topic in Electric Guns
TM are extremely nice, but a lot of budget stuff is very reliable (if not buggered about with) these days. -
What do you consider a fair price for a skirmish
Tactical Pith Helmet replied to wicksy101's topic in General Discussion
The S&T SMLE isn't cheap, but 100 budget .303 cartridges are £77 through a real one. A round of clays is 35p per clay and £6 a box of 25 budget cartridges. Shooting is never really cheap. You are literally buying things to fling them all over the countryside. Airsoft is not bad value IMHO. To be candid... I worked out in an idle moment just how much beer I bought when I was seriously into snooker. Two nights practicing and one nights competition was a minimum of 12 pints per week, plus table hire, taxis, nerve soothing fags, post-pub pizzas and the odd victory party to 2am. Life in the UK is rarely cheap, especially leisure. Glad to be able to knacker myself out for so little tbh. -

Around £30 is fine. I bought a few stones of cheap Kilo 9s before Brexit and always take food and drink from home. Diesel costs I ignore as when you live this deep in the country you pay to go anywhere. A milsim or themed game is probably £40/50 a day, but they are few and far between and take months of planning. The enjoyment of playing these is huge, so bollox to the cost. If you want a cheaper pew outing try HFT. £5ish green fee and £1 worth of pellets a day. -
Pressure Switch for Light/Laser question
Tactical Pith Helmet replied to Jxmie's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Most torches operate with a pressure switch that screws on to the rear of the body. I may be wrong, but that looks Surefire specific. -
I looked last night and thought the same.

Vague and annoying question about DMR
Tactical Pith Helmet replied to sonofsammo's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Order a standard CYMA M14. They shoot at 400fps as out of the box. Change the hop rubber and add a simple mosfet, fit an optic and you're done. If your local site is 425 or 450fps an AR type platform may be easier to work on pissing about with different springs etc. -
Just take the design in and have a chat. You would not believe some of the 'technical drawings' they will have seen!

@frontsightany engineering place that does CNC could do that.

Cheap red dots seem much of a muchness to me. The top end Vectors look interesting though. They appear to have a decent warranty too. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has one.

The detent is all plastic. Dirt tears up the surfaces. I cleaned my lad's G18, dressed the surfaces with very fine wet and dry, lubed with silicone oil and reassembled. Runs fine now.
