  1. Given the shit spares situation, it's not as though you're worse off with rare models parts wise either.
  2. Two years of Covid and some chap called Depp gets Heard immunity at last.
  3. I thought you'd got pissed and mashed the keyboard lol. 😂 Turns out my brain had quit for the evening... Anyhow... My doctor told me to take up an activity that gets me out of the pub. So I've started smoking.
  4. I have done Milsims. All of the above is true. the enjoyment form a well organised event is excellent. It's best to have your own gear, but tbh, you can get inventive and take minimal stuff. Your loadout needs to be 90% OK. RIFs are the bit we sometimes cheat on a bit. Age etc is down to the organiser. I've taken lads who are too young for the advertised age, but who are known onsite as decent players. My advice is pick a game. You can ask advice on here which games are decent. Than call the organiser. Don't text or email, just call and have a chat and sort things out re: kit/loadout/age etc. If you really want to do Milsim and you've got the right attitude you'll be fine. If you are a new player check out filmsim and perhaps try that first. You'll get a feel for the camping gear side and loadout without the full on milsim pressure.
  5. I found an old Hawke scope in the cupboard today. I think that I took it off a rifle when I upgraded my competition airguns to Hawke Panoramas in 2012. It's the old IR control on the eyebell model. I know that these had good glass in the Night Eye models, but I think that this is a cheaper Sport. It's in OK nick, with just a few marks on the caps and some residue from the mount's tape. Would £30 all in be OK? I reckon it's got to be worth £25. These were £50+ 15+ years ago. The modern Vantage range Hawkes are crap in comparison. A Vantage in the same spec is £100 at Uttings.
  6. One has to be careful these days. You can have monkeypox and not know that you are a carrier. You may be achimptomatic.
  7. Our legendary General Mhyk if memory serves. We missed your gas powered 'fut, fut, fut.' Hope you don't have a clash with the Gaelic football. We have imperialists to slaughter.
  8. Sad news from the Nestle factory today. A worker was crushed at the warehouse. His cries for help were ignored. Each time he shouted, 'The Milky Bars are on me,' everyone just cheered.
  9. Your absence was noted at Diggers. See you both on the 10th. I'll be donning black pjs and AK one day, PAVN and support weapon the other. Du ban GI!
  10. Double Eagle have become a decent choice form what I've heard, gun wise. Biggest change is the end of all the cheap stuff that we used to get from Taiwan Gun. Importing stuff has become hit and miss tbh.
  11. Caught the lad messing about with live electricity again. I've grounded him until he learns to conduct himself properly.
  12. Bloody cyclists... I've created a few I can tell you.
  13. We used to throw darts in the air and see how high we could get them to go. Inevitably one came down atop of a kid's noggin and he high tailed it home, complete with new vertical head gear. Poor little chap hammered on the front door until his mum answered it, pulled the dart out with one vicious yank, and clouted him around the side of his bloody bonce as hard as she could. He disappeared inside with a mean pull from mater and that was the end of that.
  14. Risk Compensation Theory applies in a surprisingly varied range of applications.
  15. I really struggled with my helium addiction. No one took my cries for help seriously.
  16. The best part about being a scientist is having your hard work and research questioned by people who spent every science class peeling glue from their hands.
  17. My 1-4 is actually a 1.4-4. I can snap shoot with it fine both eyes open. I certainly don't see the insides of the scope (is that eyebox?) unless I badly fuck up mounting the rifle. The frame around the image is not an issue for me, but now that @Adolf Hamster has mentioned it perhaps it will be when I fit the dot I bought a few months back to a rif and start using it. If it does, I'll blame him. 😜 Out of interest, has anyone on here mounted a pistol scope scout style on a long gun?
  18. Very true. A decent 1-4/6 covers pretty much all. Not many budget options compared to 4x40 as far as I know. Anyone have a wallet friendly suggestion?
  19. I'm going to eat different types of bread all week. Roll on Friday!
  20. The state of the roads locally means four five hour day time drives are usual for me. Driving through the night I can be in Glenn Coe in eight. Having to wait to pick up mates after work for games and then driving Friday evening is crap tbh. If I go on my own I leave at 3am and have a kip in the van on arrival. Bloody big gamble to play somewhere the first time with a journey like that, which is why I like playing themed games as different sites get the same group of players, and word soon gets out about badly run days. There were players from The Wash, Leicestershire and somewhere Oop North to judge by their accents this weekend. Couple of lads from Wolvo regularly play themed games there too.
  21. @Crazy_Crystal is right. Sierra Bravo game at Fawkham. Think I've gone about four years in a row now.
  22. I find that I can honestly snap shoot just about far enough to get away with move, mount, shoot style with a primary. But throw in darkness, adrenalin shakes or glare and a set of irons is useful. That said, I do enjoy an annual weekend with the DMR and period Tasco Wide Angle. Enjoyment is tempered when younger players ask what the 'cool finish' is on the glossy scope.
  23. Our local bakery is expanding and hiring more staff. They have many roles that need filling.
  24. Amazing game again at Diggers Namsoft themed game in Kent. A little down on numbers perhaps this year and a small decline in green machine players. A shame that work and weddings seem to clash with the important things in life! Anyhow, arrived on Friday feeling wiped out due to lack of sleep, but soon felt good relaxing with mates old and new. |Met a few new faces at their first game. I did wonder if a whole weekend of airsoft would stagger them but they were young and full of vim as they used to say. Bloody good relaxed night around the campfire was a good way to start a game weekend I think. Day one and each of three Aussie squads were put together. Each was given a particular mission. Ours was to patrol an area and search for VC. This was a win on their part as we never found them and they completed their objectives. We did keep busy and tbh, we needed the time to get into the swing of things. A shake up run was important to get people into roles within the group. It took a few minutes to get us all in order of march and to work out who was best point or tail end Charlie. The odd firefight with rapidly disappearing foes kept us alert to say the least. After three quarters of an hour, we were rushing out to fights on the Land Rover, being RPG’d, ambushed, and counter ambushing. It was spectacular fun and pretty exhilarating. The vehicles and array of weapons was excellent. I realised that I had a good kill to death ratio at one point, only to get marmalised for the next few fights. The afternoon was started with sounds of rockets and large flames as a simulated plane downing took place. Now we had a race to the crash site with the VC arriving first and putting up stiff resistance as they withdrew with both black box and pilot. Won the battle but lost the fight… A break for evening meal, and we were back in base at 7 o clock. As darkness fell, we had been frustrated by countless /VC sqauds appearing and having to be chased and (occasionally) engaged. The whole damn lot of them then attacked. Seriously, the night games at this event and Arclight have been the absolute best I’ve ever played. Really pulse pounding stuff and only luck denied the VC victory. A couple of grenades a few feet further and they would have overrun us easily. As it was I was not taken out until someone jumped atop the bunker I manned. Not sure if they did get my shirt sleeve with their pistol, but the audacity and speed that they showed were impressive and I took the hit whatever, sat back and watched the fight unfold as best I could. The landmines hidden at the base entrance gave couple of players a loud surprise. Another night under canvas and one of the best things about airsoft was evident. I had a few beers with a chap I would never have normally met, but which revealed a similar life in similar family and work circumstances a mere continent away; eye opening stuff and another face to add to the people to have a beer with. Swapping home cooked food was good too. Went to bed full of single malt, aged brandy, fine cigars and top notch grub various corners of the world. Sunday was a raid on the VC camp to retrieve both box and pilot. A most intense firefight that lasted almost two hours left us exhausted and hot but victorious. It also left us embarrassed as several people had left and the VC were only about a third of our number… I’ll resist the temptation to bang on any more. I had a seriously good weekend again, with top notch players, no no hit calling, arguments or any other unwelcome bollox. A full twelve hours or so full on airsoft with vehicles, fireworks, mines, RPGs, a tight rule set and good playing standards, and had good time after game pigging out with friends. Top quality and I can’t wait until the June game at Eversley. I prefer a top quality game weekend once a month with the odd day skirmish to the fortnightly skirmish that I did for years. More sites, better playing standards and a great social.
  25. Bought several things over the years. Always top notch.
