Mine just arrived, really impressed by the quality as expected from TM. I have noticed the magazine release feels a bit stiff compared to my Gen 3 G19, probably just a case of breaking it in.

The ambi slide release is a nice touch as well, and still fits well in both my Kydex Customs and Safariland holsters. Can't wait to give it a go at the next game!

Having not bought anything for a few months, I sold up some kit and then reinvested the money in some new bits!
    - 2x antennas for my Baofengs to try and improve squad-command comms
    - ACOG with RMR for my L119A1
    - TM Glock 17 Gen 5

Feel like a kid at Christmas!

Not going to add any sort of post requirement before accessing the classifieds and probably never will. Whilst this does leave users slightly more vulnerable to scammers the classifieds are the primary access point for new members (some of who eventually become frequent contributors to the remainder of the forum). I'll also add that the relative success of AFUK's classifieds is that it allows buyers to contact sellers far more easily than some similar platforms (which then translates into items selling more quickly). If a change was made to accessing the classifieds it would probably work for an extended period of time but there would be a drop-off in new listings on the classifieds in the medium to long term which would precipitate as less content overall on the forums. Facebook and Discord are not only popular because everybody is already on there (in many cases multiple times a day) but because you don't even have to think about doing any amount of legwork before contacting a potential buyer or seller. Closing the gap between forums and big services like this starts at having as little extra work for new users as is feasible.

The above is also why care has to be taken before adding new sign up requirements in order to help prevent spamming (I'm sure everyone is familiar with just how much of this we get). There is currently a cap on how much 'content' you can post/create before you reach a certain account age - this is intended to be one of a number of small things that frustrate people spamming and scamming at scale but it is a bit of an arms race with no solution that doesn't come at the cost of significantly lower new registrations.

Did consider a 'bond' at one point of a similarly small amount which would be refunded after a specific period of time but this comes with loads of real life liabilities. Also as above any non-refundable small contribution for buyers and sellers would probably be catastrophic for fresh sign ups I'm afraid.

I am likely going to add a new notification to make this more prominent to new members. As it stands there are two notifications that you receive as a new member and it's likely that adding a third won't help. There is of course the floating permanent notification at the top of the classifieds with a warning and some very basic guidelines. Any concise recommendations to add to this list of tips would be greatly appreciated.

I've asked for clarification on this but for now the forum does not notify of new classifieds on Discord as we're probably not allowed to even link to new listings under these new guidelines.

Although it's not exactly foolproof prevention of anybody who does a little bit of research on this (thankfully most scammers seem to be pretty thick) we do screen IPs (for anti-spam purposes more than anything) in order to catch VPNs etc. (to the degree that it is feasible to do so).

Agree wholeheartedly. This is the first recommendation in the list recommendations given at the top of the classifieds for a reason. Anybody looking to save a couple of quid on a transaction of hundreds of pounds with somebody they don't know is asking for trouble.

The reality is that there's a hard core of determined scammers who are determined to scam.  They'll come back again and again and again, and jump through any hoop in order to get access to victims.

So I'm going to be a little contrarian and suggest that - while it's great that accounts are getting squished when they're spotted - ultimately this is a caveat emptor issue.

Could we add a big warning on signup, or on the first post in the classifieds?

I imagine the problem is finding a buyer, given how many sites prohibit these and also the baby Jesus hates them.

I also run a DCS, and the major downside to the design is it lacks the velcro and clips to mount placards. It's a faff to replace molle pouches during a game day.

However, I've managed to get around this using a front velcro panel and some T-bar buckles.

Front panel (6 Wide Loop Panel) and buckles from British Tactical (https://www.britishtactical.com/hl-adaptable-modular-system-parts/). You just mount it to the front of the plate carrier in place of your existing pouches

I can now mount whatever placard I need easily and quickly. The Spiritus MK5 is my go-to for the MP5, and with the inserts it's quick to swap to 5.56 or 7.62.

Added bonus - with a little more outlay, you can run the Spiritus MK5 as a standalone chest rig, which I do when it's really hot (or I'm feeling lazy). It's a really modular system.

Was asked to knock up a stubby suppressor for the NGRS MP5SD so that it could take a Acetech Brighter C inside. Turned out pretty good I think.

I don't know about any of their other sites but when RIFT ran The Village near Royston it was policy that dry firing in the safezone would get you sent home. This might seem a bit harsh but IMO you can't be too careful when it comes to preventing injuries caused by negligence

Latest edition to my pistol collection.
Wiitech make an aluminium slide with steel threaded barrel.

looks fantastic with a comp and also takes a light weight tracer unit with no problems.

Heads up, I’ve now tried 5 different slides (Proarms, detonator x 2, mafioso and wiitech) for the gen5 and so far the Wiitech seems to be the winner (depending on what you want from a pistol).

It comes with steel rails to protect the aluminium body from wear.
it also comes with a steel fluted threaded barrel and a matching 6.03 brass TBB. The comps and thread protectors are pretty fairly priced as well.

The kit is drop in (although you’ll need to slightly modify the sights if you have pro arms tritium supressor sights).

it’s also in the midrange of slide prices. Mine was £170 inc shipping (so £200 after tax). The detonator slides and mafiosio were far more expensive.

I’ve also got a near identical mafioso steel slide G17.5.
The kit is fantastic quality and comes with a full assembled guide rod specifically for the slide set.
its a heavy slide but the gen5 gas system moves is scarily easily. It recoils faster than some of my gen3s with aluminium slides.

Both G17.5s have the same internals:
    -CCT piston lid
    -CCT spring set
    - Wiitech 200% recoil springs
    - Wiitech steel recoil rod
    - Wiitech aluminium recoil spring cage
    - JDG magwell
    - Proarms tritium sights

Brilliant day at Imperium - perhaps my bestestest airsoft day ever.

It was one of their 'Cartel' games, with three factions (police, taskforce & cartel) all vying to prevent/control/run a drugs smuggling operation. The roleplaying element with specific RoE for each faction made the day feel really different from your typical skirmish without the eight hours lying in a trench of a milsim. A real highlight for me was leading a four man patrol that snuck into the cartel CP and pinched all the gear while they were out attacking another objective.

By far the best bit of the day though, was that I think it's the first time I've gone the whole day without hearing any cheat calling. No one was accused of not taking hits. No one was accused of being hot. No dodgy medics, no hiding from 'nades behind bushes, no dead men talking. Just a really well played and well marshalled day.

Jacob Wright reacted to Super64 in Where did your forum name originate?
I’m guessing most people here are familiar with Black Hawk Down, so mine’s probably pretty obvious. But, for those that don’t know, Super64 was the call sign of Micheal Durant’s MH-60 Black Hawk during Operation Gothic Serpent, the second Black Hawk to be shot down, which then became the location of Gary Gordon and Randy Shughart’s heroic action. I’ve always been interested in aviation as well as military equipment, and I’ve always admired the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. So, when I was looking for a username for the airsoft forums, Super64 just seemed to fit.

Rebuilt the belt kit, fits quite well with the Peacekeeper - now just need to use it in ‘anger’.
Do need to replace the buckle, this one is nice and secure up until you lay prone or knock the middle of it on something and then it immediately unclips 😂

    Two questions -

    1) are the triple viper pouches on a molle placard converter thing?

    2) the mismatched grout lines on the top of your bathroom tiles are making my brain itch.
