  1. L2Read. Tell us more about yourself, whats your favourite colour, are you a girl, what's your favourite TV show, what star sign are you, where are you from, is god real, favourite music, favourite food, favourite sport, favourite book, how tall are you, do you like to run or camp.... Can't just make recommendations without knowing a little about you; jeez! I'd suggest increasing your budget by £30.
  2. Law abiding citizens won't have a problem with others circumventing those laws(?)... to merit quicker gains. I call BS!
  3. Just wondered about others' experiences. While it's mostly a question of proximity, I've got 7 airsoft sites within 1.5 hours train journey that I cannot reach before 9:40 am at weekends. I'm not bitter, just wondered how relevant my situation was.
  4. Nice, well to be fair, I just used "psychology" as a substitute for a more meaningful explanation or elaboration on what I referred to. Nevertheless, you always get a survey proofed by a few people before letting them loose on the world, nothing is worse than having to retract one and ask the existing respondents to re-do it. It doesn't hurt to answer your own survey 10+ times yourself using RNG and see if you get usable data. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survey_methodology https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Questionnaire_construction
  5. I don't mean to chew on you specifically, it's just that surveys are soo often underutilised and if you say nothing people will continue to draw conclusions off bad data. You cannot make bad data good after the fact, and even with lots of respondents, bad questions can spoil all the results. If you think you can run a business you can spend 2 hours on survey psychology.
  6. In that regard, this forum's tendency to shorten URLs makes us all vulnerable. Surveys can be useful gathering tools, but other than those by PHD students every other online survey for the purposes of genuine research, rather than polling a question to a select community has been a waste of my time just by the way the questions are written, the one by the OP is no exception, almost all the questions are useless, even question 6 shows a clear disconnect between the author and the airsoft community. When making a survey the first order of business should be "how can I make a survey work for me?" not "and my questions will be". Examples: It's been my experience that 4% or less of airsoft players are female, so why bother asking? Airsoft players go from age 13 and up, and over age 50 under age 70 is not unusual yet the author apparently does not know this, don't give away your own ineptitude in your questions by making basic assumptions poorly. For airsoft sites, question 5 here. Its location location location, and that's of the venue, and of the venue in of itself. The mall for example is a good location, and it's in a good location (next to a large rail hub). Any site can be a good site, the players and the staff making it a good site, neither of these can be improved based on a poll so i'm glad you didn't include those as options, but as your Q5 answers were not alphabetical this betrays the authors processes AGAIN. For question 4, use "up to".
  7. I doubt you'll find any airsofter that won't agree that £5 per hour, excluding game and safety briefings is expensive. You should change your game time question to 240. I can't see how any of the questions other than six (I agree with jedi, nothing) could possibly give you any useful data. As for reserving places, just do email, and don't bother asking or catering for alternatives, don't use social media, it's amateurish and appears lazy. On question 5, public transport links or affordably ferrying to those links is important to me, and would make a huge difference. I've I identified 8 airsoft sites I can get to within 4km on public transport, but which I cannot reach without taxis - which are always too expensive. For that question (5) you should be asking "what makes you return to sites" - but if you don't know already, can't see a quiz helping you.
  8. Have you tried using your fingers? I have a G&G hop with a wheel and I find the plastic on mine is stronger than my finger nails too. Furthermore, have you had the barrel/hop out of the reciver and tried to change it, even if you replace it you've still got to have it out, might as well find out before you buy stuff.
  9. TBH, unless your local sites don't support simplified UKARA registration (ie they don't stamp forms) its all moot, your dad can get on the database in due course, his past games will count as long as the site has proof he's played before. As long as he's handing over the cash at the point of sale, you'll be fine. It's not UKARA that prevents children buying imitation firearms its the Law and though they could refuse to sell to you (they'll be thinking better we get the money than some cowboy outfit), airsoft is not taken nearly as serious as airguns and real guns by anyone close to it, and that's very unlikely.
  10. Nuprol glock holster is good, has molle option too, never lost the pistol nor the holster (both paddle or molle) while playing. Plus the nuprol one is designed for airsoft dimensions.
  11. Haha, no I meant that I was asking what it is that "manning up" would look like in this context (as a question). I felt i'd already manned up plenty already. Posting this in an open thread is a fairly big deal to me, as it could have been extremely poorly received. And in that regard was prepared to leave.
  12. Do you know how it's performing now? No point trying those extra tweaks if the possible benefits are not more than a 20% increase. If you're already at person sized targets at 50m, consistency will be more valuable than increased range or accuracy. What BB weight are you using when not testing the FPS? If on .20s, get some .25 or .28 and some .30 or .32(33)s and check the gun is performing predictably and consistently (via this chart).
  13. Awesome, how long have you been playing? You might get better value from a two tone rather than hiring, if you're sure you will like and play airsoft. There is no laws or rules regarding imitation firearms and gifts. There are many colours considered realistic, given you're only 15 and you've a long time to go before buying your own stuff i'd say have an adult in your family buy you a two tone gun in the £120-£160 range. G&G Combat Machines (CM16/18) look okay with two tone rails, grip and stock. If you're holding the gun, the grip is in your hand, the stock in your shoulder and the rails covered with accessories it really wont matter. And you will save your 'adult' a lot of pain, stress, and unease, over doing something perfectly legal. Plus, the costs of bringing that adult along, paying hire, you're looking at an expenditure i'd expect £50 per person per game, whereas just £200 up front for a gun with batteries/charger + magazines (go mid cap!) is much more economical. And you can resell the gun if you don't like airsoft later. UKARA and ownership are not related, only the 'sale of' is regulated. No one can tell you that you cannot possess or use any airsoft gun for airsoft on this basis.
  14. Only <lowercase> okay? Perhaps i'll try elsewhere.
  15. I joined arnies way back when I joined this forum, and while did not post sales here for a long time nor ever buy anything, I did give up trying to access arnies sales after 20 posts, everything I wrote was spamming and just for that purpose, in the end I left that forum altogether. I put minimum post counts in the proposal at the suggestion of another user, they were never in my original concepts for change, and I agree with your decision. EDIT: Don't know why this is the only issue I am defensive of. The fact is it was from previous feedback. Spose it's just an ironic coincidence that of all my proposals one I incorporated from others' suggestions is the one picked on and opposed most.
  16. Whom is you? If this is directed at someone specific please elaborate on what "man up" means. EDIT (Few re-reads later): I'm not annoyed, would annoyed people try to help? I think not. This the only UK airsoft forum with regular posters, low proportion of non UK based posters, and unbiased moderators/policies. Thus, there is not anywhere else to go, best try to fix the concerns before they radiate into the minds of other users, the siege of general discussion, as you note on the layout, is down to a lack of imagination in users (over the last 5 months, strangely) on where posts might be most appropriate - and an obvious lack of browsing to see where similar topics are stashed. But with more sub-forums, there would not be a need to "imagine". And in all fairness PT247 if you knew how hard it was to get the admin's attention, I don't think anyone would doubt the "man up" factor on my part. Behind the scenes it's not an issue of no-one listens, its much more complex than that, put simply though, no one but the admin has the authority to change things, and he's been out of contact for a long long time, when I finally got his attention, he appears to have misunderstood (what I wanted, and why I wanted it) leaving us with no changes.

  18. Please like this post if you agree with at least 51% of what you read in the post above. I will not be responding to feedback*, however hard that is. This is someone else's problem now. *Comments sure, but not feedback.
  19. Here is a diagram of the site as it is now followed by the original proposal and a revised [minimised] proposal. Current: Original Proposal: Revised Proposal: Proposed rules updates: *Tiny transparency note: as part of my proposals I did also volunteer to implement them. EDIT: Think it's fair to assume you agree with 95% if you've now liked this post.
  20. Unrelated to the recent influx from social media, for a long time this forum has been in quite some needs of some new sub-forums such as HPA, what gun should I get, safety gear, dedicated Q&A etc and an expansion to the overworked moderation team to hold back the tide of posts put in general discussion like this was /r/airsoft, enforce the rules on advertising and commercial sales, correct thread titles to actually be useful, move threads, regulate the sales forum rules, and stop the useless exploitative posts by commercial youtubers. And the rules on sales and commercial activity need updating while saying within the spirit of the original rules laid down by Devastator. A week ago I posted a forum restructuring proposal and some small changes to the forum rules in the supporters’ forum for the consideration of the moderation team. I had been trying to contact the root admin (devastator) to no avail since 15/06/15 about with improvements to this site. This week I decided I’d had enough and took steps to ensure the root admin communicated with the moderators - who stated he had been out of touch a long time. As it stands now this forum is unrecognisable from the clean resource which taught me so much. But when I finally got in touch with Devastator I received what felt like the equivalent of being laughed out of the room. I still think this site can be saved, but I’m not going to be the one to do it. I hope this post inspires others to ask for more. I attempted to have these changes implemented behind closed doors – privy to only the admin, supporters and moderators to avoid being dragged down into weeks of indecisive debate. Having seen this two days ago, I’ve been told by the Root admin that it’s not going to be done. Recently there has been much conduct on the part of us regulars which has been unwelcoming, but we’re not entirely to blame, the systems in place on this board are dated and not designed to cope and the volunteer moderators overworked.
  21. I've tried to help improve this site, I've failed, in my opinion this website upon which this resourceful community I joined, and introduced me (and so many others) to airsoft, is no longer fit for purpose. Over the last 2 months i've felt like going elsewhere for my social airsoft fix, but there isn't anywhere quite like this place was. No complaints here, only suggestions.
  22. Indeed, the only thing I have against two tones is the reduced resale value, which ironically doesnt matter because of the drastically increased number of available buyers. I saw a post somewhere today where RIF was used when it should have been IF or just gun and I couldn't believe it. Sad thing is that while i've no doubt these are genuine players, i'm seeing a cultural shift to glorifying air soft which I previously never saw. I want to say "chaps, airsoft predates the VCRA!"
  23. Seeing "rif" and "RIF" a lot more on this forum recently. IMO airsoft gun first, IF second, RIF third.
