  1. lol sometimes just need to let nature take it's course
  2. That one made me chuckle, i'd tell em they either have to pay a protection fee or be a 90's whitney houston
  3. possible yes, probable no maybe you could get away with carrying half a gun, if anyone asks say it melted and fell apart in the desert
  4. I would buy a Glock but i spent all my money on Cake
  5. Agree, and anyone who was perfectly responsible when they got a firearms license / ukara could potentially have a hard time and go bit nuts later too. Equal opportunities is always good though, just be nice if people trained to use guns professionally could bypass bit of the paperwork for firearms license, maybe the referees could just be someone in the military who can check your records and verify you've not gone section 8, as checking referees seems to be the biggest delay in the proceedings. Although having said that waiting for the army provide the police the paperwork requested on your behalf might take longer than them checking up on a referee lol. Having been in the armed forces should definitely be counted as a valid defence for RIF though, as there's a clear sentimental link there.
  6. I get the sentiment, but fortunately one thing this country isn't turning into is a free fire zone Def agree that anyone with real firearms licenses (and that these should be more easily available to those who've served) should be able to use this as a defense for RIF too. In terms of buying lethal stuff, the big inconsistency is archery, for air-rifles you still need proof of address and ID. I was able to purchase a crossbow capable of nailing someone to a wall without any proof of address/ID or any recording of my details, and this is the norm. I'd need more to buy a knife, but a crossbow featuring arrows that could be used by hand more lethally than a knife are all good it seems, even arrows with a blade rather than point on the end!!! So tell your mate he can buy a bow and arrow and go Rambo at his local sheriffs without any pesky bureaucracy
  7. I usually tell by me being the one walking back to the respawn I'm surprised there's no mid-cap mags on the market that have a little LED or similar to indicate when running low or out (seen a few peoples own bespoke creations but thats it)
  8. If you ask any airsofter about their gun they'll prob say 'yeah its a xxx but i've upgraded this and that and this and that" i agree the kudos is there in computer games, but it's very much perpetuated by existing players (most of who don't seem to play CoD or similar) and the shops they use. a total newb wouldn't even know it's possible to upgrade an airsoft gun unless they'd seen parts available or heard/read accounts of them being upgraded. they might consider adding an accessory an upgrade and call it such i guess. It's a speculative question without a clear answer, i just think that upgrades etc isn't unique enough to CoD and other games to be the root cause. Existing players and shops are the ones filling the internet and skirmish sites so that's got to be where they get the possibility/idea from. When you first buy anything in a new genre you'll always look to see what the most expensive/bad-ass thing available in it is. For airsoft that'll be either a systema or some other bespoke real-steal bodied gun upgraded full of expensive CNC bits by an individual, or a shop selling it as their special item. I haven't tried but I imagine a quick google of 'best airsoft gun ever' will direct you to similar, or JustBBGuns if you spell it incorrectly I didn't consider upgrading guns until i'd spent a couple months shooting my mates with some b500a1 in his garden/woods, then looked into doing it at clubs/skirmishes etc. Due to the number of different mostly Chinese manufacturers, I'd just assumed they were pretty bespoke and you just bought a better gun. Then got to first skirmish and started asking about them and discovered most peoples guns were far from stock.
  9. The dif with LIPO (rather than nimh) is they can output a much higher continuous current. This will turn the motor faster and can put stress on stock internals, but only really if you use an 11v lipo will it potentially damage it. Some more fragile or high-speed/rof guns might take a bit of wear from a 7v lipo, but you can always get one with a lower C rating if you're worried (i use 20c 7v lipo on my TM high-cycle) Basically to use a lipo all you need is to plug one in, you might have to change the plug depending on what battery connection you've got. With LIPO it's recommended you install a MOSFET, a little electronics bit designed to bypass the trigger and stop the contacts burning out eventually from the higher current compared to NIMH. There's lots available and wiring diagrams floating around. If you're not comfortable with soldering then perhaps take it to an airsoft store to do for you. In terms of the internals, as far as a gear box goes you kinda have to upgrade it all, or you're left with a weak link in the chain and that'll be what takes the brunt and breaks if your motor is kicking out more force than the gun was designed for. In summary all you need is; 7.4v lipo battery of appropriate size, mosfet, perhaps dif battery connectors, and a gun that's internals are made of metal not plastic.
  10. On Land Warrior Airsoft's site, a UKARA number is a pre-requisite field for placing an order, it won't let you get to the next page without putting one in. so essentially you're bullshitting, either you put a gibberish number in and got a response from them saying 'this number doesn't appear valid' or you havent placed the order at all. either way this isn't what you stated, and any chance you might of had of persuading someone to risk imprisonment when you get caught shooting it in your local woods is gone. And calling someone offering you sensible advice a fuck isn't a good idea either. If you're under 18 then it's not an offensive thing to assume you might not have enough ban-account etc to be buying it yourself. you kid are the fuck, and a jumped up little one at that.
  11. As they won't let you sell the guns for some kind of legal/moral issue, then guess would be stupid if you could still buy the gun piece by piece. That's the only justification i can think of. TBH by eBay standards there's so little on there I assumed that parts weren't allowed either and it was simply people getting away with it or facing the impending ban-hammer if mod notices. I do a search for Tokyo Marui and get 113 results total. So I certainly wont be bothered by this one bit, if it forces more people through forums like these then that's gotta be good right?
  12. upgrading things is a pretty common notion. any genre of machine that's vaguely modular will have options. airsoft websites is probably where most will look first, and they're packed full of parts. definitely is some transference from computer games, but not a notion exclusive to them by any means. i've not heard anyone mention themselves leveling up in airsoft, or calling ukara an unlock, but have heard people mention practicing particular elements (like 'room-clearing' skills) as if it was a virtual category with an XP value or similar, like an i-spy book of airsoft that could have skills ticked-off in
  13. Dayz, zombie survival game, started as mod based on Arma2, currently in alpha stage of a standalone, prob still not worth buying yet unless already big Dayz fan
  14. If airsoft was war i'd use the following tactics; - First I'd hack the server/site of the organisers and attain a list of those attending. - I'd then use a drone with a BB gun to shoot people the night/day before while sat in their gardens, or simply drop a bucket of bb's so large on their house one was bound to hit them at somepoint (blown off the roof in a gust of wind while they get into their car hehe). - Everyone else would be taken out by the BB IED's placed at the entrance to the car-park, and any survivors by a BB mortar while they got sorted in the safe-zone. - Once i'd successfully annexed the airsoft skirmish site then I'd hire some milsim players to guard it and shoot anyone else that turns up to play, and not count anything they do towards the official totals. - and I'd make sure there was lots of news footage about me bravely intervening in stopping a group of fanatics from using their weapons of mass BB's for evil, and then spend years justifying my use of time and money in doing so rather than the morality of it. - finally i'd cash the giant cheque paid to me by laser-quest for forcing people back into their business.
  15. I disagree entirely, airsoft is a game, it is only a war-game if you treat it like one, and this isn't necessary to play airsoft. As for virtual tactics, a tactic is only stupid or moronic if it doesn't work. Perhaps lying in a bush in the hope of knifing someone in the foot is doomed to failure but a majority will succeed. I can give examples of many very common 'virtual' tactics that work; camping, sprinting off from the start of a game to get to the advantage points first, sneaking round the edge of the map and shooting the other team in the back... Infact i'd almost go as far as saying there's more viable tactics for airsoft from computer-games than military tactics as your actual situation has more in common due to it being entirely safe and an indulgence, no risk of death or destruction. It having a defined area, rules that have to be obeyed, a clear notion of what constitutes 'victory' and score...
  16. Myself again, didn't actually spot you last time, although i did get there abit late and spend my time reloading or smoking outside.
  17. Anything is good for airsoft if it gets more people playing. You reference the big military based first-person shooters, there's just as many non-military ones out there. From milsim perspective, I think it's down to you guys running/playing it as to whether it becomes a good or bad thing. If you're open minded enough to accept fresh-blood and guide them (at risk of getting occasional total idiot, but whens that not a risk?) then it's all good and the ranks will swell, more good times for all. If you're too snobbish and dismissive to not want anyone who isn't acting/dressing in a 'professional' soldering manner already participating, as they taint that precious sense of immersion, then you'll prob successfully put them off by being a dick, or encourage them to treat you with an equal lack of respect. More bad times for all. If you think the computer games mentioned are unrealistic or incorrect, and this is damaging the sense of milsim immersion due to it being incorrect, then again it's the same decision; guide/help/persuade people to accept your 'truth' or dismiss/be a dick. If the influx of people influenced by these games was so great that it eventually lead to a situation where the 'military realism' perpetuated by these computer games ended up eclipsing or replacing the the current ethos in milsim and airsoft, then tough luck thats just cultural progression, it was more popular so it won. Sure wouldn't be hard to start an 'old-skool' milsim league if/when necessary. Personally I don't care what makes someone want to play airsoft, as long as they don't think it's the only valid reason or ethos. I also don't care what kind of ethos people play with. If (as mentioned by AK47 above) a bunch of kids turn up expecting to re-live CoD, then who am I to stop them (other than by shooting them ofc hehe). It's snobbish to think their ethos is any more or less valid than your own. At the end of the day we're shooting each other with toy guns and a kid shouting he 'no scoped you' is no more ridiculous than someone using 'real' military terminology. If your sense of fantasy is so precious it can't handle conflicting things going on around you then form a club of like-minded people or see a shrink. As long as people stick to the rules it's all good however they want to go about playing. If they don't they'll be quickly kicked/banned anyways.
  18. stumbled across another great get-psyched tune last night, although a tad cheesy; expect no mercy - nazareth
  19. ahhh so nice to see everyone recommending classical music (original rock) makes me feel better for not being able to name anything from this century
  20. ^ saw prodigy recently in Reading, still awesome, although gig was totally oversold and bit of a scam with buying drink 'tickets' (esp when couldn't actually get through the crowd to the bar lol)
  21. Wagner - Ride of the Valkeries This zone is safe to surf
  22. Do like the vector, looks sweet, but cba with gas. May very well get an AEG one if/when it comes out. At least you're not after anything airsoft and nerdy rather than military, its like looking for fossilized unicorn droppings. Only a few ever pooped out years ago and they're all being held unused in a cupboard by the cast of the Big Bang Theory. One day i'll find a star trek phaser rifle that isn't a £500 solid cast of a stolen prop and then after some loving surgery airsoft will be one continual holodeck/time-travel accident for me, might even buy a trek uniform and beam into some ww2 milsims seem what happens hehe
  23. Laylax grip for MP7 & 20mmm rail, looks more comfortable and shouldn't inspire same kinda "I'm gonna snap it off" fear the stock MP7 grip has.
  24. if you find you don't like mesh due to reduced vision, then you can get masks/goggles featuring inbuilt fans that clear fogging. I have one these and does the job perfectly, although need to switch it off when your sneaking around/listening for people sneaking around. otherwise not loud enough to be a hindrance.
  25. "Your MP7 has that screw stuck too?! Must be a defect" Guy had noticed the butchered screw on top rail on my 2nd hand MP7, and like it's previous owner not googled/you-tubed first to realize it was a fake screw-head before fuking it up. When i told him it was a fake screw-head he didn't really believe me at first, funny thing was he'd stopped trying to take it apart when it got to that fake screw, and has a bunch of upgrade bits that gathered dust as he hadn't got round to sending it to a shop for them to drill the screw out. If he'd taken the other 3 screws out the rail would have just fallen off with bit of gravity an he'd have realized. He'd stopped after 2
