  1. Why 'jack it in', just don't go until it seems like fun again, if years pass then could consider yourself to have quit i suppose. No point limiting yourself with such definitions unless you've got a team of people relying on you, and even then might as well just say 'a break' Hope you get the buzz back
  2. I had those kind of preconceptions about the criteria for Milsim, all fed by these being the supposed criteria for awesomeness the 'dyed in the wool' players at my local woodland sites have. They talk/boast about Milsim as if attending one was an achievement or select calling. Because they're the type that talk loudest and most often about milsim, it's their ideas of it that noobs like myself inherit. Then i looked into it online and it all seemed a lot less strict/immersive than this preconception. So I went to one and found the actual rules weren't any where near as strict, was just like any other skirmish but with more complicated game criteria, much longer game time and the site was larger. Games were really well thought out in stages, staff were friendly and great. It was just kind of like an extended super-skirmish. But still, all the people in my assigned squad (and majority there judging by their reactions) seemed to think that total immersion (the 2k of gucci gear and saluting etc as you put it lol) was an ethos that was simply an unwritten rule. Like it was the whole point of attending a Milsim and if you didn't subscribe to it then wtf are you doing here and not at a normal skirmish? No-one seemed interested in having fun or a laugh, just a stern faced mission. There was no 'rebel' team for the one i went to, just nato and pseudo-soviet. It sounds like a good way to cater to those noobs like me who like me only have a camo t-shirt, refuse to walk around in set-formation and don't know the latest nick-names of any of the pointless attacking/defending 'manouvers' that make no difference when performed by unfit/slow people who waste the advantage arguing about which one to use. I commend you for trying to make milsim more accessible, i'll certainly give your site a go and milsim another chance now i'm just about over the jaded urge to put such fools into an actual war-zone and see how many seconds it takes for their underpants to turn into the "correct camo scheme", well perhaps not totally over, i'm definitely grinning rather than grinding my teeth while ranting tho
  3. 'hobo' eh? I'll give you 10 copies of The Big Issue for it, assuming that trade in reverse isn't how you got it.
  4. Doubt you'll find a site that'l let you do it due to insurance. I'd say this is one those things that is dangerous regardless of idiocy, far too much potential for grenade to the face even if the person was trying to be very sensible. Someone could easily walk into the line of fire and take it to the face, or you could accidentally aim wrong and hit someone. Even if was allowed I'd not want to risk it during a game, for the same reason i'd not want to catapult half a brick around. If you hit someone with it they could sue the pants off you Would look cool though...
  5. ^ My guess is whoever gave her the right hump climbed out a window shortly after he opened the front door
  6. I blame The Big Bang Theory for more woman considering dorks/nerds to be a better candidate than 'jocks' for molding into their idea of a good mate. I'm hoping IT Support will become the new FireMan then i can get a GF upgrade, or at least work part time as a stripper after she dumps me for someone even more nerdy
  7. ^ well like many women, clearly putting all your time/energy towards her idea of the future is the only non-sad (happy i guess) thing to do or you might be a total dork in which case be grateful you got a woman hehe
  8. It's got some spectacularly well shot and acted scenes in it which get it the kudos, but like any well long film unless you're left blown away by them, then the boring shit in between will switch you off pretty quickly, and for apoc now that's just a bunch of mofo's in a boat with martin sheen giving often tedious narration.
  9. Don't have enough camo to get the playing-soldiers line off mine, instead she assumes this is the first step in me trying to become batman. Just need a billion dollar trust fund and some mountain-top ninjitsu training then i'm sorted She don't like the marks it leaves, or when i've lazily left a gun out in pieces, but otherwise fine with it unless i opt to do it instead of something she wants to do on a specific day
  10. Prob not too hard to guess what my favorite is. The horror...
  11. Worth the price is up to you, if you consider £50-100 worth it for being able to see the BB perfectly in low light/darkness then yes. I mostly play CQB sytle airsoft in an unlit shopping mall (The Mall in Reading), for me it's totally worth it, almost essential to know where the feck the bb's shot go. If i was just playing woodland skirmish during the day, then there's no real use for it, so no. They do what it says on the tin, however you wont notice the 'glow' much, if at all if you're using it outside during daylight. Inside or any kind of low lighting, will enable you to see the BB very very clearly. Remember you'll have to use tracer BB's, and they're a fair bit more than normal BB's, a definate consideration to make in terms of 'worth' Have a look on you Tube for footage of them being used, will give you an idea of how bright they are.
  12. See a mini-gun in use, had a go on a couple 50RPS polastar setups that were more like a bb hose than gun. Also had a go on a 50.cal sniper, but it was stock internals and pretty much only thing it has more than any other sniper was several more kg of weight.
  13. Cheers chap will give it a look, should have thought about restricting the 2 stage trigger doh, be easier than a replacement.
  14. Finally managed to convert a friend to airsoft, after a tour of various sites around berkshire/hampshire it seems her favored style of play is hiding behind trees at the rear. So we can actually team-up rather than her watching me running around getting shot in the distance through a scope, I've bought a classic army SL8, with the intention to put it up to 450 fps and lock to semi-only (i'll not call it DMR, unless it stands for Dis Muppet's Rifle). I know it's far from a great 'DMR' choice, possibly one the worst, but it looks cool and it's modular enough to make into a G36K/C with another hand-guard and barrel/hop if i change my mind or persuade my friend to push forward a bit more. Although she seems to very much enjoy the opportunity to use her significant ex's ridiculously over-spent M14 based 'DMR' she kept after the split (along with at least half a testicle), i get the impression his face is getting applied to everyone she pulls the trigger at I've done enough gearbox tinkering and read enough guides (the holy-grail one is brill) to be able to stumble through upgrading the internals (although only need a few bits as CA SL8 comes with quite a few aftermarket bits installed). However when it comes to the trigger and semi-only I've encountered a lack of relevant google, due to it having a fire-selector with only safe/semi settings and full-auto being facilitated by a 2 stage trigger. All the suggestions i've found seem to be about locking the selector and I've never tinkered with triggers before or made a gun semi-only before... Can anyone recommend a pimpingly snappy trigger unit to replace the 2 stage with, and the best method to permanently make it semi only on a V3 gearbox (considering it only has a safe/on selector). I will be putting in a mosfet with active break; http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/gate-electronics-mosfet-switch-picoaab-active-breaking
  15. I've got a TM HC P90 and never found the trigger an issue as it's not 2 stage. Is an excellent little gun, only issue is it's easy to over-wind and wear out the hi-cap mags and if you do so can get occasional feeding issue requiring you to quickly remove and wind it a couple times again.
  16. Watched the vid and think needs a bit more content, no offence but there's not much to be gotten from watching it other than someone tried to 'push the limits' of a sniper, got to 650fps and what parts they used. Couple mentions of issues encountered but that's bout it. Prob why there's no comments as there's nothing really to comment on. Same reason why this thread doesn't seem to belong in the 'review' section, gun pic thread prob been best. Was good effort, but needs more comparison, action footage and candid upskirt pics of the internals or its just an empty boast. To be a review it needs more comparison, to be a build/guide it needs more content. Think it's kinda stuck half way between the two. Only offer this feedback as seems you're trying to branch out into YouTube reviews etc. It's a fickle world of short attention span and I wouldnt bother watching any other videos as nothing grabbed my attention
  17. Definitely need to consider speed vs range here and how close to the limits of FPS your gun is. Heavier ammo might get you that vital extra tree line or two distance, but if you go too heavy for your FPS then even if your hop can lift it you'll end up with BB going so slow a cheeky fucker like me has time to dance around before ducking, or try hit the BB's back with the stock of the gun (i got told off for this...) People just assume heavier the better regardless but it isn't always, if the target person is too far away for 0.2 to make it, doesn't see it coming or is unable to move quickly regardless it's all good. If they aren't too far away, see it coming, are already moving, or have something resembling reflexes then it'll be a hindrance to you compared to 0.2 I just use 0.2 and if playing woodland have a clip or two of 0.25 if required as doesn't need much hop adjustment, if any between these weights i find.
  18. I got a feeling that tailoring is one those almost redundant services that you'll have to pay an unfair high price to have done, if you can find it, as 99% the people with the ability are imprisoned in 3rd world sweat-shops!
  19. Ahh cool, think that's one the ones from Appleseed, the 'star dragon' doesn't actually have any solid anime root, just one their own creations inspired by the one you got and other guns made by the fictional weapons company 'Seburo'
  20. It'll only fit an M4 with the same dimensions as TM. JG have cloned this bodykit (originally made by a company called Poseidon which sounds like what you got 12 years ago, if you still have it dig it out as isn't exported anymore so might be worth something) as well as the TM M4 it was made to go on. ICS M4's are about a cm longer and don't fit, no idea about G&G or other manufacturers. In terms of taking it apart the pins can be pretty stubborn and require careful force the first time, otherwise it's pretty easy. It will prompt a fair bit of 'that's not real-steel' snobbery from the Walts, or a general opinion of ugliness from anyone without a nerdy side (i assume due to no supporting footage of soldiers or movie-stars using them), but that can only make shooting them with it more fun
  21. I have one, the JG M4 inside is a piece of sh*t. Depending on which release of it you buy, the lower black sections may be painted in rubberized car dashboard paint, which rubs off very easily. Otherwise it's just plastic body kit with no other issues, any issue will come from the M4 inside, but it's not too hard to take apart, few screws and pins I've done lots of mods to mine, starting with putting a TM high-cycle M4 in it instead of the JG, currently re-shaping the top of it for an inbuilt scope, built a torch and laser into the bodywork so far.
  22. If anyone looks down on you for having a 2-tone gun, then you can just enjoy the delicious taste of their tears as they walk back to regen after you shoot them
  23. Every bullpup gun I can think of has a fixed stock (one can't adjust) and they're all different length guns. therefore you definitely need to try before you buy as the gun may not fit you. I have a P90, but lots of people have said it's an uncomfortable gun, either due to them having arms too long or moobs too big. I'd suggest refining the options to a couple you like the look of and if you can't find someone with one to let you have a go, at least travel to an airsoft store and try them in person. Have you tried using something M4ish with a foregrip and a 3 point sling? I wouldn't say a single-point sling provides any comfortable support for a rifle sized gun, just the ability to leave the gun hanging off your kit.
  24. TM tracer keeps up with high ROF a bit better, I tried an ASG & Madbull one and found they missed a beat or two. Also found only the TM and Xcortech are self-contained well enough to not see the strobe go off when facing it (not a big issue when the point of a tracer is to make your shots visible, but it does give a flashing beacon of exactly where the end of your gun (and you) are). I've managed to pick out people firing them from dark rooms much better due to this effect.
  25. The Mall permits lasers, but only short burst and only below chest height. If someone breaks these rules then they ban lasers for everyone for rest of the day/eve, and this happens EVERY time lol.
