Whats your favourite game type/scenario?

This thread is over three months old. Please be sure that your post is appropriate as it will revive this otherwise old (and possibly forgotten) topic.

Our group are organising a lot more private games this year which gives us an opportunity to try different scenario's that we otherwise couldn't do on a walk-on.

So what game types/scenario's do you like to play? And most importantly why?

The most fun game I've played was essentially take the 'item' and hold it in multiple locations for a specific time. It created a great dynamic on defending and attacking certain positions. Once you were all dead or completed the task, the teams would switch. - The winner being the team holding the locations for the longest or completing the objectives.

Not taking away from the classic team deathmatch, three respawns on a small map/field.

i really like a game called moonshack at the gaol.

its a form of domination where you hold 3 points for x ammount of time to win which is great fun with rotating skirnishes due to the nature of the game

I enjoy tactical type games, clear outcomes and objectives. However I have yet to play a site where more than 50% of my team agree with me and they pretty much always turn into team death match.

RAF Upwood had a good game with three or four objectives, however most people did not bother and it was a tem min walk to spawn with a 5 min wait to respawn back in which also killed the game a little too.

I LOVE the Malls first game of infected, 4 players against everyone else once shot you are infected.

My favorite game types have been silly smaller games such as:

Balloons on your back at Epsom tunnels, pistols only - think Mario kart where balloons are your lives.

Hold the yellow box for ten secs at The Mall. You have to touch the box (usually in the middle of the room) for ten seconds, no shooting whilst touching it but the enemy CAN shoot you to get you to let go. Gets the adrenaline going this one. I usually down guns man up and charge the box for points.

Spy hunter at The Mall. 20 odd players line up facing the wall and marhsalls tap players. Tapped players are spys and objective is for spys take out the others or to all be shot and identified. On GO everyone turns around, spys have to try to stealthily take out the other team. As no one knows whos a spy its tense with no one trusting each other at all and usually a mate wait tens mins before taking out his friends :D

We had that at the weekend, had to get a secure package to the library from the squash courts, but round the site, blow the tank up adjacent to the police station and set up the mortar near the bunkers as well as defend our tank,

no one really stayed for 5mins due to the walk back, a marshall had said that the walk back was included in the time but you MUST go back to respawn before coming back in....anyway the old ex mil guy that plays there and smokes the pipe (you may know of him?).....no way did he wait 5mins and we shot him neat their base twice in quick succession!!

i think only the mortars were done on both sides, we were close to blowing the tank :)

the best game i had at the weekend was the assault the police station :)

That was the game, was great in theory and it did work, apart from the trek to respawn wait and trek back... We did spend time waiting.

I met him last time I was there. He was a funny guy.

Im pretty sure both teams managed to do all the objectives when I was there. Was not much in the way of feedback from marshalls on that day.

Yeah I only saw the 2 mortars set up, again no feedback except on the times for the assault game

I played a game mode at Combat South that was pretty much Rush from Battlefield.Defending team has 3 lives, each time they get shot they fall back to the next objective, attacking team has infinite respawns and their respawn flag follows just behind the fighting. The 3 sections of the battle were up a hill, grab a bomb and carry it through woods and into a village. You end up with an hour long game that has an awesome mix of long range, right down to clearing buildings. There's also the opportunity for flanking maneuvers and even some guerrilla warfare. I've had people hide in bushes and let the attacking team walk past before attacking them from behind.

The guys at Spec Ops in Dorset come up with great games. Recently we played a Terminator game.

Each team has a base and the objective is to capture the opponent's base. Whilst you are both fighting for ground between them, a Marshall (wearing a mask) is fully-loaded with a full-auto AEG as the Terminator. He is invincible, moves like a robot with big, slow strides and spews bb's at enemies.

The Terminator needs to be touched by a player for him to be loyal to that team, where he will slowly walk towards the enemy base. The opposing team can re-tag him to gain possession of the Terminator. A grenade will 'deactivate' the Terminator for 1 minute, which can open up opportunities to take possession.

If you are hit you respawn at your base, but if your team has possession of the Terminator then you respawn 25m back.

A great game. if you're thinking of doing it, the Terminator needs a good 3000-5000 rnds on him ;) Also, we played this in a woodland site.

Falling back a certain way or to the past objective is such a time saver and allows a more fluid game, I hate trekking back to a static spawn on larger outdoor sites. Such a waste of energy and slows the game down so much.

That one was good fun. Especially when you get so engrossed in defending the hill you don't realise you're the only one who hasn't fallen back and the attacking team have advanced so far you can see their spawn flag.

Didn't the conversation go, "Blimey that bloke's brave...". "That's my dad... I'm going with stupid rather than brave."

Its worse when you've done the 10min walk to spawn then have a 5 minute wait. The game is far better when the spawn moves upto the next objective and less chance of getting shot at again.

At Plantation when the player count was low, they did a game where everybody starts with 5 playing cards and when you hit someone, you take a card off of them. After a certain set time the player with the most cards wins.

Was pretty cool because not only did you have a tally of confirmed hits but it added an element of awareness to be able to cross areas to the dead player to collect their card.

Played a cool game yesterday at AWA where our team had to escort some boxes from A-B a Protect the convoy scenario. The boxes were not allowed too far off the path which lead straight to the drop off.

enemy team had to lay at least 1 ambush along the way.

Defenders could travel as far off the path as they want but boxes had to stay near the path. It was a good game. Kind of went to madness as part of the scouting party I found the ambush, took a few out and got shot. Our spawn was behind the enemies spawn. So as both teams took loses we ended up just playing a deathmatch outside the spawns with not many doubling back to the convoy.

We got the convoy to the flag in the end but was quite chaotic (which was fun :P:D:lol:B) )

I like the pushback games (particularly at the stan) gives a good balance of intense play and balls out attack as opposing team numbers dwindle, and from the other side of that fence picking a spot when the team doing the pushing back all rush past you and you can take lots out all at once :)

we should do a thread for game types we dislike - for me any type of "infection/zombie" game, always seem so pointless as you never know who you are supposed to be shooting at.
