  1. I've come across posts (generally not on this forum mind) which indicate that you can get air trapped inside your GBB magazines, and to remedy they advocate purging them. Usually via a process of depressing the knocker valve for a few seconds as you fill them. Is this really a 'thing'? It seems surprising to me that air can become trapped in a magazine - and that it wouldn't as a matter of course vent out when you fire a few shots. Without knowing anything about how gases behave, I would also naturally assume that when you fill a mag, the liquid gas you are injecting falls to the lowest point, and any air that is trapped, rises to the highest point - in which case, with the mag inverted how would depressing the knocker valve release anything other than liquid gas? I'm not trying to start a debate for the sake of a debate - after the second fill of my hicapa magazines the other night, I only managed a few lacklustre shots out of each. Almost certainly because it was pretty cold + the gas can i was filling from was the same temperature as the mags; but I'm wondering if in parallel there could be other things that I could do to help.
  2. Agreed, I'll use just about any gunk in a gearbox, but for sliding parts, only lightweight oil (3-in-1) for metal to metal, or silicone lube for anything involving plastic.
  3. I'm not "getting off" on anything, just saying how the OP comes across to me. Imo repetitively asking after being told no is hardly a sign of maturity
  4. Dad is saying it's illegal. It's not. It doesn't sound like a rule thing, but an ignorance thing. Where do you get off judging the OPs maturity. You've no basis to to do this, one hyperbolae doesn't do that. Nothing immature in the post and the thread does not suggest anything about the character of the OP. This guy has written a well structured to the point, polite request for advice.
  5. Buying and selling under 18 = illegal Owning and playing under 18 = legal Gifting or being gifted under 18 = legal So the solution is ask your dad to buy it, then gift it to you, as a gift, buy he will only be able to buy an IF (two-tone) without a UKARA so that is what you can get for now When you are 18 and get your own UKARA you can buy anything you want
  6. Scran What to eat and drink? Instant soup and drink mixers are the simplest and quickest. They are warming and provide energy. Screach can be consumed hot but it doesn’t isn’t any better. Although the sugar rush is as addictive. I tend not to brew up using tea bags. They just bring back too many bad memories… especially in the woods at night. In most situations snacks can be stored in spare corners of your kit. The traditional military biscuit will also help you by avoid the need to go to the toilet for then next day or too. 😉 A good filling and light weight option is instant porridge. If you are an athlete then performance gels might be your thing. If you do want something more filling then the options can be summarised as: 1a) Self heating meals (as CannonFodder mentions). You can sometimes find inexpensive ones in the supermarket. The are quite a few adventure travel ones, bit pricier. 1b) Or the military MRE heaters but I find them a faff as they don’t really work for a hot drink so you might as well use a stove. They are a lightweight back up if you carry ration packs. The above are flame less so some situations they maybe useful. However if you are carrying a canteen cup and stove might as well use it. 2) “Dry” dehydrated meals. These are very light. And could be anything from a pot noodle 😱 to a mountain meal. Generally just add hot/boiling water and eat from bag. 3) “Wet” meal ration packs and boil in the bag. Heavier but pre-cooked so they can be rated cold if needed. If cost is a factor just make bolognaise and put it in freezer bags, ones you can cook in are available. Cooking time generally 8-10 minutes. 4) Cooking direct in cup. Certainly do able but then you need preparation time and clean space. People may get upset at you catching and gutting the local coneys however. Options 3 & 4 are more suitable for use with a mess tins. But if you are in a team at a base camp you can more readily cook for the group in one go.

  8. It's been a long (and I mean years) time since I had the chance to use my old L85 in anger at all. So, I'm planning a complete internal and external RIS rebuild. Now cards on the table, I'm not the best at this sort of thing so, I've had a read around and can't seem to find out. Does anyone know if there was ever an upgrade complete mech box for the ICS L85. Really, I want to put a mosfit on it, new 11.1 LiPo and it will need a lot gearbox work to get that right. In terms of the hop, I customised it years ago to take account of the useless rotary arm thing. I ended up using a filed down arm and ball shaped bucking. In fairness, the rage was always awesome but, RoF was always very poor. Anyway I think we are at the limits of my ignorance here so, rather than get anything else wrong, I thought I'd ask the hive mind for any advice. Anyone rebuilt, any idea where to get parts, fitting mosfet etc. Thanks in advance
  9. I was in the same spot as you, i recently wanted to make a hi capa build which wasn't a speedsoft esque gun. And the only options I really had were guarder. I had to do cut off a small bit of BBU (which guarder state you have to do) to get the stock blowback unit to fit and ever so slightly file the screw hole that secures the blowback unit to the slide. But it wasn't anything strenuous. I managed to fit it onto my stock frame no problem, paired with a 5KU outer barrel that doesn't tilt. Works like a dream. The criticism from knuckles is warranted. However the current market trend for hi capa slides are more suited to speed soft builds. In short, you get what you pay for.
  10. Glass is pretty flat, good enough for our purposes. There's no friction reduction to be had since friction is independent of area, the high points produce no more friction than if the load was spread over the whole shim. Our gearboxes are not precision machines, we can shim to 100 microns, were using plain bearings, with mediocre gears and unknown manufacturing tolerances for anything. Anything we do like this is because we like to fettle. Breaking in a gearbox is not something I've ever done, only the bevel gear could wear and offer a chance to correct the wear and that only between the motor pinion and bevel gear. Gearboxes have slack right from the outset, gear backlash, bearing to shaft gap, gear end float etc. It's not put together tight like an ICE for example and run in. Maybe that's something to try, build it tight and run it at low load until its not tight any more... Sure is fun to fettle tho.
  11. Not disputing the fact that have done and continue to offer high-end upgrade packages but the first question I always ask is 'what's your budget' followed by 'what are you looking to achieve'. From there, I can tailor each build to the customer's specific requirements. Side note, I have never built anything with solely Prommy internals I always select each component based on its own merit with respect to the budget and performance targets. I continually optimise the parts I use and offer based on their performance, price point and availability. @Alex34 Turnaround is currently around 10 days if I have all the parts required in stock That's been my biggest focus over the last decade closely followed by improving communication.
  12. In the interest of pure balance I've also been and had no issues, none major enough to not want to return; but that was 1 person on 1 day of course. Their barrel sock rule is obviously out of the norm but the safe zone is quite possibly the nicest overall of any airsoft venue in the UK (not that I've been to every one but it's so far ahead of anything else that it's a tough one to beat). Lots of cool stuff in the game zone too and pretty big.
  13. That doesn't surprise me. From the short time I was in the group I got the distinct impression that anything other than having your tongue up the owner's arse wasn't acceptable
  14. I haven't owned a silver 5.1 but I have had a 4.3 Dual Stainless. The frame is essential hairline polished metal, rather than painted. I certainly can't imagine anything flaking off it if you're not even holstering.
  15. Note that volunteers are working, and on a legal basis many volunteers and the organisations they volunteer for have unwittingly entered into an employment contract Though it may be common for airsoft marshals to be unpaid volunteers this is a poor model for the airsoft industry, it’s more of the norm in paintball for Marshall’s and other staff to be employees (In a number of activities I do and have volunteered, I am handled as staff, though unpaid, and I am insured for their liability to me and for their business liability of anything I do ‘in my duties’ None of this changes GDPR nor SIA status Driver Wood require a policy for data collected already (data collected for ticket sales, waivers etc) and cameras add to the data handled
  16. It does feel like it hasnt stopped raining for the past few months, something on the news about it being the wettest February since records began. Everything around here in the East of England is a boggy flooded mess, every field you see is underwater. Ive got better things to do on a Sunday morning than get up early and go out in freezing cold rain, very much a fairweathersofter Been doing it for long enough now to not need to suffer miserable days playing it. Same with motorbikes, anyone who says riding in the winter slush grime mud and rain is anything other than unpleasant is just lying.

  19. Very seldom have drawings to work from - only a defined space and of course the building plans. We work on anything from bedsits to factories, but tend to work on large houses - those that are worth more than Mr Duck's entire postcode area. If you're working on 28mm and below then the cost doesn't really pan out unless the bigger sizes are in play too. If you're working on heat pumps means that pipe sizes are going to be much larger as you're dealing with low level energy so need huge flow rates by comparison - hence the use of buffers and volumisers. The pics from the other day are for a house with a heatloss of 9kW, but they wanted two smaller pumps over one big boy, even then though you need 35mm once the heat pumps are linked.
  20. Genuinely, I've never seen an issue where a body cam would benefit anyone or anything. Edit: at an airsoft site
  21. Ah thank you, that seems to be the issue - I did as you said and it required quite a lot of force to move the piston within the gearbox, I then tried the stock piston which moved very easily, and then the remains of the previous piston could move but not quite as easily as the stock piston. I hadn't realised that the width of the piston itself could be an issue. I will see if I can do anything to make it move easily, otherwise I will buy a different piston and hope that it fits.
  22. Thanks for the reply, with regards to the motor, I was considering short-stroking the sector gear by a few teeth, especially as I have bought a ported cylinder, so the last few teeth of the sector gear are not causing any extra volume in the cylinder. Would short-stroking reduce the need to go for a higher TPA motor as the spring won't be being compressed as much? Also, I gave everything an inspection after the piston head detached, and anything which had even a slight bit of damage was replaced, so it doesn't seem to be any remaining damage that is causing an issue. With the piston potentially being the issue, I am thinking of trying to swap the rack on the new piston with the old one, as the previous rack didn't get damaged but I am unsure about if it is a bad idea to swap the racks on pistons by different manufacturers. Although when turning the gears manually with the piston in place it doesn't seem to be catching on any teeth so I don't know if that means it would be unlikely to be the problem.

The gun comes without a mag and is not functioning. The slide is cracked at the back and stained, the frame is very shiny but intact. All of the internals are included - everything from the frame and the slide. I have left them fitted for convenience but the trigger unit and/or trigger bar will need looking at again. Some of the pins have been replaced and there is a brand new Guarder slide stop lever and spring installed. There are also one or two bits that I either replaced or bought and didn't use which I will put in a little bag. The slide will need to be removed with a bit of wiggling and force, or I could remove it for you if you prefer. History: in case you are wondering. I have a complete set of internals for the TM Glock 19 Gen 3. It's a long embarrassing story but I tried to put the TM frame internals into a Guarder frame. I have done this before with Guarder Glock 17 Gen 2 and 4 frames and encountered little or no difficulty. However the Glock 19 frame was anything but a straight fit. When I finally got them in, the slide stuck and I had to hammer it off. I tried again - first removing material from the inside of the frame and trying the slide again - and again and again and again, finally damaging the Guarder frame and breaking the TM slide. In the end I gave up, put the parts in a box and sold the magazine. So what I have now is a complete set of internal parts including bbu, outer and inner barrel, front and rear sights etc - everything except a slide, frame and magazine. I still have the original Marui frame which has a slight mark next to one of the assembly pin holes that you would probably not notice. . The slide is cracked at the back and stained, and needs to be replaced and the frame is very shiny but intact. Please note: this gun does not work but it has all the parts. When it was working I only ever test fired it before attempting to change the frame. The nozzle return spring is bent and will need replacing, and as far as I know it is the only part that does. But I am not an expert and there are no guarantees with this gun. However I think 30 pounds for a complete set of TM internals is a fair deal, for anyone looking for spare parts etc, and I am sure that a more talented tinkerer than me could get it to work. Comes in the original box with owners manual. Since it is technically still a rif, I will need UKARA from prospective buyers. 5 pounds extra for postage

This hasn't been skirmished or had many rounds through it, but there are some scratches to the hop unit and damage to rear sight (pictured), from where I had to drill out a rounded allen head. Neither of the these can be seen when the gun is assembled or affect the overall operation of the gun. I've taken photos in natural sunlight to accurately capture any other marks present. Build: - Action Army AAP-01 in Black - GBP 80.00 - Action Army Black Mamba CNC Upper Receiver (Kit A) - GBP 110.00 - 5KU Ultra Lightweight Bolt in red - GBP 33.00 - Hadron Designs Bouncer Kit - GBP 13.00 (if you can find them in stock) - Action Army Steel Hammer - GBP 35.00 (This was an absolute pain, so I should be charging labour haha) - TTI Metal Adjustable Flat Trigger - GBP 23.00 - Stainless Steel Trigger Spring - GBP 8.00 - CTM FUKU-2 Lower in Grey - GBP 16.00 Total = GBP 318.00 (not including postage etc) Comes with 1 x mag as pictured. I've built several of these now, in different configurations, so know the platform very well. This particular build addresses all of the common AAP issues (weak hammer, long trigger pull and lack of rails), while maintaining the consistent feeding and shots you get from using the stock nozzle, bucking and inner barrel. This should make an excellent primary for CQB (or the enthusiastic woodland skirmisher!). This is the only gun I've been tempted to HPA tap! Providing you have the right setup, it's also not too big or heavy to holster. Stated price includes PayPal fees and tracked courier. Please PM me any questions, as I don't get notifications for anything asked on the listing.
