  1. I own two AUGs (F88s to be pedantic :) ) and until recently an L85. Like you I cant get on with the AR/M4 platforms as I find them all too short in the stock. If you want a rifle and dont want to add anything to it then a A1 AUG is a good choice. Very pointable and easy to get along with although finding places with Mid Caps in stock is awkward at times. The A2 is a good choice if you want to just add a site to a rifle but it does not really replicate any real rifles. The A3 is the third choice if you want to go ballistic adding accessories to it. Like the A2 though they are a very poor representation of the real A3 but there are some inserts available on shapeways (3d printed) to fix this. You would likely find that this is quite a front heavy rifle as well but because of the motor being right at the back I would imagine it would still be fairly well balanced.

The L85 I also found decent to work with even with the added complexities of the GBB system on mine. For me though I found it was slightly awkward to use with the standard handgaurd until I used the sling to help support the front of the rifle. No idea if this is how the forces are trained but it was something I learned shooting the N08 in cadets and it helped massively. My friend now has the rifle though and fitted a DD rail and it is very nice to handle.

I'm seeing more F2000s about but unfortunetly have never had the chance to handle one along with the Tavor :/

Probably the biggest deciding factor between and L85 and an AUG is weather or not you need to be able to shoot single shot for the purposes of a sites rules. There is a modification you can do to the AUG trigger to create a semi position but it is a bit of work. Otherwise you are stuck with the two stage trigger and it is very hard to be able to consistently fire single shots with it. If you sites have no restrains on full auto then its not a problem otherwise you will need to start modifying it from the off.

  2. Lol why do you say the sandpit is serious? Its a good sight though to play, slightly awkward to get to if your coming in by train though as you will have to get a bus from the station to bluewater then walk up a bastard of a hill. It is worth the climb though :)

Serious site in Dartford - Sandpit

  3. Rhomney Hythe and Dymchurch railway is actually a good trip to take. Although a commercial line it was often had armoured train running up and down it in WW2 and runs near on of the military canals and you can spot a lot of relics from our early warning systems such as the sonar domes along the route. Also runs near the Hythe ranges which go on for miles!

There is actually an intact Cold War bunker in Woodlands park in Gravesend but unfortunetly it is very rarely open to the public :/

Hornby Museum (not military but they do have some really cool models in there)

  4. There are two forts near me (Gravesend - one Fort Amhurst and 1 further along I cant remember the name off, both interesting to walk around and easy to get too IF you know the way.

    Upnor Castle

Two RAF museums literally outside the entrance to DFTDC Manston (formally RAF Manston). The larger of the two has a very big range of aircraft and a couple of vehicles as well.

Chatham Dockyard has is quite varied but has a lot on Naval History and a Submarine to wonder around last time I was there.

Fort Amherst is also worth checking out.

Dover Castle is a good trip, it was a fairly vital part of our sea defences during ww2 has miles of stuff to explore.

    Rochester Castle

I will update this with stuff as I remember them :)

  5. I started off by watching a load of videos by a polish? group called Birnyx who took the fun out of themselves and the sport in a good way. Then watched the videos by level cap and was put off by his attitude slightly. After that I watched some videos from other youtuber's which re-affirmed my belief that not everyone took it that seriously and was also happy to find out that RIFs were way cheaper then I thought they would be. I work in the cycle industry and raced a fair bit when I was younger and know from experience that once you get to a certain age group you need a good bike and a £1000 aint going to cut it. (I stopped racing near this point :D ). Airsoft in comparison seemed much more accessible as I became more financially independent from my parents. Dragged some school friends along and rented. Loved it, friends went of to Uni so I then dragged someone along from work :D Done a few skirmishes by myself and have always ended up nattering to someone. Otherwise I go along with my friend from work. Buying an AUG as a first RIF helped as everyone seems really curious about them at the Sandpit for some reason.

  6. After getting baked like a potato I went from a PC to a battle belt and my kit will be at maximum load: 1 Triple Mag pouch set,1 Admin pouch, 1 radio pouch, 1 Dump Bag on my belt and either a water bottle or hydration pack. I have never needed any of the extra capacity I had on my PC.

  7. Aside from blowing up a battery I have managed to fit a flat hop to the F88a2 and succesfully swapped the connectors on my one surviving battery :D

Definitely learned a few lessons this weak end :) Dry firing is showing how much of a difference there is in the trigger response on the A2 compared to my A1 which still has regular Mini Tamiya's atm. Looking forward to taking a trip into the garden and seeing how the flat hop performs tomorrow.
