  2. I've got a WAS DCS in multicam, the build quality is outstanding, the design and functionality is excellent. It wasn't my first choice to buy, but I wouldn't switch back now. CK is right, the RICAS is a big rig, the DCS is much smaller and very adjustable.
  3. Welcome aboard mate, it's a great forum with loads of info, advice and help

  6. I don't recommend working abroad, because when I can't airsoft, all I seem to do is shop on line for more stuff to buy!! Damn you! My Mistress that is Airsoft!! Now the proud owner of , not one, but TWO TM Sig P226s!!! (I'll give one to my mate!)
  7. Hola Sabre 6-1, Welcome aboard bro, good to see another Cav vet on here! And welcome to our fair Isle! Some good explanations of the VCRA and UKARA on here as well as great forums and great advice, it's a great site! I did 23 years in the Army, 9 years infantry recce and 14 years Cav, it would be great to swap stories over a brew or a beer! currently working in Venezuela, so my airsofting is rather limited at the mo!! Have a good one, If you ain't Cav, you ain't sh1t!!
  8. There's quite a lot of posts on here regarding the merit or lack of it of various camouflage patterns, the military's aim of having a uniform pattern to aid recognition and to be able to be effective in as many environments as possible has cross over to some aspects of airsoft. However as most will say or have said on here, in airsoft, its more about the look that you like, a fashion statement if you will, as good field craft skills will hide you more effectively that a camo pattern nine times out of ten. If you play in a particular environment or have a variety of camo patterns to chose from to suit given environments, then you can pick and choose to suit, (e.g. UCP for urban, MTP for arid, DPM for woodland etc). I have a lot of respect for the guys who go to the time and effort to create a realistic faithful load-out to a particular unit or design, it may not be the best for a particular environment, but then airsoft is about enjoying yourself, not just on the field but also in spending all our hard earned cash on stuff we love! I'd love to see some pics of your Cav Scout load out?! Remember, "If you ain't Cav, you ain't sh1t!!"
  9. Dry firing at your duvet!! Lol The military use 1p coins as platform depressors in magazines when doing dry training and skill at arms lessons, high tech eh?!
  10. Steady on!!! might be a bit heavy from me this time round!! lol
  11. Just bought this Afghan spec'd WE L85A2 from MK2Death!! Whoop whoop!!
  12. L 119 Sharpshooter?! Hope you're gonna post pics?! What are you doing about the x6 ACOG?
  13. Great guide JC, thanks, very clear and simple, just as Comms should be! No Comms, No Combat! You're spot on with some of the inane waffle that gets passed over the net or the useless information because the listeners can't relate to "my 12 o'clock!!". As well as doing Comms checks at the start of the day, its a good opportunity to agree on call signs, code words and lost Comms procedures. And for those who are a little geographically vacant or in gaming areas with many similar buildings, such as FIBUA sites, a ground brief, pointing out the salient points, so everyone knows where North, South, East and West are and an agreed method for indicating specific buildings can be very useful. Most sites have small sketch maps, some can be downloaded in advance from the web, or there's always good old Google maps! Combat net radio is one of the great aids to small unit cohesion, it can also be one of the biggest mill stones if you have a plumb that talks sh1te all the time! Coven Leader to Raven, Come in Raven!!!!
  14. Too many guns????!!! C'est imposible!!!! On the subject of lots of guns and our long suffering plus ones, has anybody had to go to extraordinary lengths to hide them? I'm talking building fancy weapons hides or even built gucci storage cabinets with back lighting ala Mr & Mrs Smith?!
  15. I think in the most part you'll be hard pressed to find a good, quality PC with pouches for less than £100, maybe even £150, here are three pretty decent ones, but they may be out of your price range: http://www.uktactical.com/p-6617-warrior-dcs-m4-multicam.aspx http://www.uktactical.com/p-8401-warrior-ricas-compact-m4-multicam.aspx http://www.bulldog-tactical-gear.co.uk/equipment/plate-carriers/bulldog-assault-mk2-plate-carrier-mtc-detail.html I've got a WAS DCS and I'm very happy with it, and it does bear a striking resemblance to the CPC type carriers that are around.
  16. I got in to airsoft earlier this year and opted to go straight in to GBBs, I just didn't like the toy feel and effect of AEGs. I've shopped in airsoft zone in Romford a few times and the're good guys and very helpful. There are some good retailers out there with some great prices, (such as Patrol Base) or with great GBB experience (milspecsolutions). If you can find a store where you can actually try the guns out and do your internet research, you'll get yourself a good 'un. I got myself a WE HK416, another very similar AR type platform, I've modded the hell out it, new inner barrel, fitted an NPAS, because it just ran way too hot! and a paint scheme and lots of ad ons with sights, lasers etc. Bear in mind the mags,my WE M4 mags are about £35-40 a pop over here and only hold 30 rounds, I've managed to get six and I carry speed loaders!! The cost of ancilliaries and running costs, gas and BBs etc, may also be a factor, as well as having a local store who can help out if things go wrong. I dealy love my GBBR, its awesome to shoot and so very realisitic, but the weather and temperature can have an effect on your gas mags and so on performance, its just one of those things to bear in mind. PT247 is quite right, I've the the G5 used on skirmishes and it is a very impressive perfomer and the vid comparison above is excellent! Oh and this is my baby...
  17. I ordered 8 x WE M4 gas mags from Evike, got through no dramas, just the import duty to pay! ouch!!

    Disaster!!

Sorry to hear the news, good luck on rebuilding the business, perhaps you can announce your reopening on here? Maybe drum up some more customers?
  19. An interesting point BC, but it doesnt hold water when the overwhelming majority of player use their mid/high caps like they're sprayin' an a prayin'. Fire discipline, accurate shooting and sound field craft and use of the ground apply just as much to airsoft as they do to the real world. The lack of range in airsoft means we only have to get that bit closer. If hit percentages and range was the issue, it wouldn't be in CQB settings. I just don't see how one the one hand its all about using a weapons that is as realisitic as possible and on the other having a magazine that the A Team would be proud off.
  20. On a slightly different, more of a MilSim tangent, one thing I don't get is the obsession with realistic looking weapons, down to the minutest detail, and then go stick a 300 round or 150 round mag in it?! Realism is one of the main draws of the sport/game/activity to me and I've always been on gas guns with real cap mags. I know what it's like to carry 3000 rounds of 5.56mm, NOT FUNNY!! but why go balls out for realism and then go all high cap? Might just be me, but doesn't make sense? any thoughts?
  21. Cheers, lol, it does seem pretty similar to my WAS DCS, but no wear near those eye-watering prices!! WAS claim to have some kind of UKSF pedigree to their kit and its design, does anyone know if its true?
  22. Just follwed the link and answered my questions, TVM
