  1. My son has been to Absolute Airsoft, just for paintballing, he didn't rate it much, it may be better in the summer. We've both been to The Mall a few times, its a really good site, especially in winter! And welcome aboard! My son is in Windsor and I'm returning to the UK soon to live and work in Wimbledon. This is a really great site with lots of useful and helpful info
  2. Looking good SQ, here's some real steel dudes, who share my OCD obsession for matching everything!!
  3. Whilst it's true and I wholeheartedly agree with the principle Qlimax, unfortunately there are an increasing number of companies that don't see it this way, particularly if you work involves some form of security clearance. The company or organisation may well have a policy on the use of social media and may wish to exercise some form of control over what you post. you're right, the simple answer is to lock your pages and posts to all but friends, if the company doesn't see them, then it shouldn't be an issue. The company won't be trying to control what you do, they're simply trying to protect their image or reputation. It's not just airsoft either, but anything an organisation may feel brings bad publicity, bar crawls in Greece, drunken parties etc. It may not be right or proper, it may be an invasion of privacy, but if we put it on the internet, then its so others can see, it's no longer private. Companies, organisations and governments are struggling to come to terms with this, just as much as individuals are, Welcome to the 21st Century! I guess the lesson to learn is, think before you post, especially if you work for someone or plan to work for someone who's twitchy about such things?
  4. Welcome aboard mate, I'm pretty new to this too, been playing less than a year, The Bunker was the second place I played, I enjoyed it but I've played better since. I'm moving to Wimbledon soon, so the south east will be my home turf! I prefer CQB and urban to the more purely woodland sites, but I'm up for a skirmish anywhere really! This is a great forum with lots of really helpful and knowledgeable members, enjoy! might see each other on the field some day!
  5. I think I've found my first problem, my rail adapters are for a Comtac type headset, but my headset is a Sordin type! (Doh!!) I think this means that the clips that hold them in place are different? I've found this company in the states: http://ironforgedconcepts.com/project/order-sara-gen-2/ Who sell clips thast can be fitted to Sordin headsets so you can have them rail adaptor mounted or back on your head band They're not cheap, a set of four little clips is about 70USD, then there's their European freight charges! They do a set of the clips with a set of Peltor rail adapters which would be rock solid, as you say, but its gonna cost me nearly 200USD!!! The things I do for airsoft! She is a cruel mistress, but I can't help it!! I'll let you know how I get on...
  6. Oh I tried all that JC, I have an Emmerson FAST PJ, got myself a Z Tactical MSA Sordin headset and rail adapters to go with from Airosft peak, the headset is very good, I particularly like the ambient noise amplification and ear defence cut off when there's a loud band. But the rail adapters are complete dross. In order to fit them to the head set you have to do some serious mod work on it, to strip it down, the metal arms have to be bent out of shape to remove. The rail adapters are poor quality and only one side would fix correctly so that it folds down and seals in place, the other side just wouldn't do it. Still scratching my head for a solution. I'd seen guys running with a full head set under their FAST, but mine is too small, or my head it too massive! I;m a size 60cm and the FAST is a snug fit, pretty comfortable actually. Any advice on rail adapters gratefully received
  7. Some good links there, thanks guys, I've got a Para helmet that I can run with either MTP or DPM covers and an Emmerson FAST PJ in MTP which fits, but is snug, I'm having trouble getting a comms system to fit it. I just wondered if any companies actually made sizes or its a one size fits all and the best you can hope for is an adjustment wheel, (it gives you about 58-60cm)
  8. It seems that most replica airsoft type helmets max out at 60-61(ish) cm, in a one size fits all kinda way. Does anyone know a brand or make that is designed for those with a larger heed??!!
  9. and the award for the most innovative dodgy camo goes to........... A brown shirt covered in green Africas!
  10. Good luck and i hope this doesn't affect your clearance or work? I feel for you having to succumb to what you see as unfair intrusion and censorship and as has already been posted, it is difficult to give any advice without know what their grounds for labeling your photos "unprofessional" are? You may well have a case for them prejudicing or discriminating against you, but if as has already been said, such images could cause reputational damage to your organisation, they may feel validated in their claim. You mention "clearance"? Are you talking about some form of reference checks? or some form of security vetting? I have to deal with security clearance and vetting as part of my current job and I can understand why some organisations would feel that certain photos of their employees posted on social media can show said organisation in a bad light. Even MPs have come a cropper over this! For most organisations, its not that they find what you do unacceptable, its that if something is linked to their organisation that has the potential to cause negative press, they get twitchy. and to the uninformed, Airsoft can seem to trigger a range of responses from "blokes playing soldiers" to "gun nuts training for god knows what?!"
  11. That's it done! Resignation handed in! 39 days left in country and then back to blighty and start my new job in 42 days!! Whoop Whoop!

  12. Welcome Jack, im based out of the Windsor area when im in the UK, the site near maidenhead is a woodland paint ball site, my son has been there and says its not very good. The Mall in Reading is excellent, my son amd I have been there a couple of times and love it, very well organised and very thorough. Not been to xsite, I'll have to check that one out! As everyone says, hire to start with, try before you buy, get a feel of what you like and whats out there. The forum is a great resource of info and advice, enjoy! Might see you on the field sometime!
  13. You will probably just be buying the cover, without soft armour or plates, so not very heavy at all.
  14. 200/116 is the height and chest in cms. Its the standard sizing format for all British MoD clothing, upper body is height and chest, lower/trousers is waist/seat/leg, again in cms. I've got a WAS DCS, its a great quality pc, excellent and does the job, I love it! but I'm only 6'1" and I've had to adjust it pretty much as far as I can, so that the plate sits lower at the front, personal preference really, main reason being it hurts like a mofo getting shot in my "muffin tops"!! lol (note to self, more work on abs!)
  15. My first ever airsoft gun; and a GBB one at that Ahhhh a man after my own heart! I've only ever used GBBs, it is a labour of love in Winter, but when its all coming together, its worth it! got my son a TM H&K MP7 GBB, he loves it and its an awesome CQB weapon!
  16. cracking day at Halo Mill, but after 7 hours of CQB me old bones are aching!

  17. Halo Mill tonight!! Whoop Whoop!!

  18. Resistance is futile!!! Mwahahahahaha!! lol
  19. The weather! Ambient temp can be a bugger and needs to be factored in, mine can run hot in the summer and barely function in the winter. So in the summer have an NPAS fitted so you can turn the gas down. In the winter you have to carefully manage your gas type, (I find propane the most powerful) minimising cool down (don't degas your mags quickly or do lots of full auto) and trying to keep you mags warm. Apart from that its the realism I love! It's gas all the way baby!
  20. Very comfy, I've only done a couple of CQB skirmishes with them so far, so not really put them through their full paces. I had planned some decent hill walking between Christmas and New Year, but i think it'd be a bit daft given the current weather conditions. I've used Salomon boots for years and worn them in some atrocious conditions and they've always served me well, very comfortable and very water proof.
  21. Cheers Ian, fair one, but I just like multicam! lol sad but true

  23. Hey Mack, what you've got there is good condition late issue "Soldier '95" DPM Jacket, shirt and trousers. As you mentioned the TRF is for 38 Bde, a resident/regional Bde in Northern Ireland. All British issue kit comes with a small Union Flag on the left shoulder. Formation TRFs are worn on the left shoulder and Regimental TRFs would be worn on the right shoulder. The kit is pretty good, reasonably hard wearing, but as I'm sure you will see on ebay, is quite plentiful and cheap. The jacket is based on the old Arctic Windproof, sometimes called a "SAS Smock", hoods for cold/extreme weather, lots of pockets and slotted button as they're more robust and easier to operative with gloved hands. This kit was common issue and would have been right up to the introduction of MTP, firstly in a similar cut, still known as "Solider 95" style and then later in the "PCS" (Personal Clothing System) cut.
