  1. Not entirely sure what the difference is, if you look on the Evike website, you see the whole range of both levels of quality and different models and camos on there.
  2. There was no size detailed, I assume it was one size fits all?! Unless you're over size 61cm?! I believe the basic has a simple under chin single type black strap and a basic set of pads. The advances has a tan chin strap that sits comfortable on the point of your chin and a full set of adjustable pads inside, well worth the extra cost! A slightly larger one would be nice, but it fits and is comfortable and as the saying goes, if it ain't broke.....
  3. So here's my baby! I have been lucky enough to receive a gift from a friend and fellow airsofter of a WE Tech HK 416D, (with HK branding!) the open bolt V2 GBBR and have set about "pimping it"!! I was inspired by the 416s used by DEVGRU on Op Neptune's Spear and detailed in the exceelent book, "No Easy Day". This is not a faithful copy, as I said, I was inpired!... This is the finished result, apologies for the quality of the shots. I have had fitted an Angel custom bespoke length 450mm x 6.01mm stainless steel inner barrel, that runs the full length of the suppressor, to increase the accuracy, a real steel British Army fore grip and bipod, a Crane Stock, a FAB Defence AG43 pistol grip, a PEQ 15 laser and light, a 1800 lumens torch (£10 on Amazon!) and a pair of scope brackets to mount it, (£5 on Amazon!). A copy of an Eotec 552 with red/green reticle and a side flip x3 magnifier. The sling is a Magpul dual point sling in Multicam. My side arm is my first purchase, a cheap and cheerful HFC Glock 17, with a laser/light fitted. Next game day I'll add some load out pics. All comments and banter gratefully received!!
  4. I've recently bought an identical one, an Emerson FAST Type Tactical Airsoft Helmet (PJ Type / Advanced / Multicam) from Evike for USD$56. I'm size 60(cm) head, quite big and the standard size is a little snug, but it is very comfortable and stable. I've worn this charging round all day on a CQB event and it was great! Having worn the old fashioned steel pots, the MK6 and a crew guard, this is waaay more comfortable! And having taken hits to my head and this coped excellently with it, I won't be taking it off any time soon!!
  5. Lovin' my new toy!!

  6. Recently had a weekend in Yorkshire and as well as a visit or two to Patrol Base, I also visited Halo Mill, I enjoyed it so much I took out membership and plan to make the trip as soon as I can! What makes it unique and worth the effort is that there's something on nearly every day! You don't find many sites running something nearly every night of the week! There a real mixed bag of people there from regulars to first timers, from teens to old f*rts like me! Games from simple Team Death Match to more complex and confusing(?!?) games and a site that, although not huge is very well used and has excellent facilities! The staff are great and very friendly and join in with the fun and games! A particular favorite of mine is the individual timed CQB lane, that is seriously addictive and can be as simple or as complex as you want! A computerize timer runs for you and you can do mag changes or transitions, it's all good! There is great atmospherics with the lighting, smoke and music/sound effects and the use of pyro!! The CCTV system covers most of the site and if you're not playing, you can watch all the fun and games. It's also used as a training site by the local constabulary's fire arms teams! To quote the big guy!! "I'll be back!"
  7. Been there a couple of times now, really helpful and really friendly staff, both when I'm buying a few bits and bobs or if they're using their workshop skills to sort out another of my DIY efforts!! Can't fault them, thoroughly recommend them!
  8. Longshot, lovin' the "Tommy Tank" comment! Priceless! lol Thank you for a very simple and clear explanation of UKARA and how it affects retailers and player, it being clearly geared towards purchasers. As a newbie, my initial comment on VCRA, is what is it trying to reduce? Is there a significant amount of data to suggest that the sale of RiFs is linked to criminality? Is there data to support RiFs being used in criminal acts? If so, i would have thought that there is enough legislation and policing powers in place to deal with criminals, who would be conducting criminal behavior, with or without a RiF, regardless. I can understand the aspiration of the sport as a whole to prove its bona fides, is this what the UKARA data base provides? Surely legitimate and recognized ID would be sufficient to purchase a RiF? If there's a problem, they have your details?! Likewise for playing, just produce legitimate proof of ID? That way, the site owners and retailers have your details, should there be an issue and if you need to demonstrate your usage, you can point the authorities to them?! The use on legitimate sites. where they have the appropriate insurance and you aren't going to scare the public with RiFs is a no brainer, I would have thought and hoped that our politicians, legislators and Police have much more pressing matters to deal with?!
  9. An interesting question and one I've been asking myself, as a newbie, why don't airsofters wear cam cream, if, and most do, go to extraordinary effort and lengths in acquiring and collecting their loadouts? Granted, it's not the nicest thing to ear, but neither is a helmet or body armour when it gets hot and sweaty. Baby wipes are good, but the best thing is good old fashioned soap and water!! Given the effort and some of the looks people go to, I would have thought that a few minutes going for an "alley" bit of cam cream would complete the look? In terms of being spotted? Well a white face will stick out like a bulldog's proverbials at the back of a darkened room, in a woodland environment, movement will get you seen, first time every time, after that, its' anything unnatural that doesn't blend in. Clearly there's no point if you're wearing a full face mask. Just surprised that given the open and unjudgmental nature of this sport, this is a contentious issue.
  10. Sounds awesome, I'll be heading over there as soon as I can, no doubt to buy bb's and gas and walk out with my wallet considerably lighter!! Doh!
  11. Hi All, I thought I'd kick off by introducing myself, I discovered this site in the last few days and have been avidly reading all the good stuff on here, friendly advice, cool gear and bits of banter!. So I thought I'd throw my hat in to the ring and jump right in! My apologies if this is a little rambling, most of the posts here seem quite short, all comments and banter much appreciated!! As I mentioned on joining, i'm new to airsoft and new to this site. At the moment I'm in the midst of getting my gear and load out together and having great fun doing so! But as I said, I'd introduce myself, I'm not exactly a youngster, being mid 40s, but the aches and pains I now suffer are made more than worth while by the good humour and attitude of the sport! I got in to airsoft from taking my 12 year old son in to a local shop and getting my hands on a full metal GBB HK416! I was instantly hooked!! I have done my time in the military, nearly 23 years and the opportunity for any short of shooting or firearms training in my post Army life is all but non existent! Airsoft seems to offer me my fix! But knowing very little about it, I turned to the web and sites such as this and visiting local stores and sites. My previous airsoft type experience is almost 20 years ago while serving in Germany and there was a craze of collecting these spring powered BB looky likey guns, which we would use in inter troop firefights, often ambushing colleagues in the showers!! Yes, it did end in tears!! I think there were a lot of us in the Army who were and still are gear fiends and gun "nuts" (in the best possible sense!) and would love nothing better than to be on exercise, the range or on operations, this sport gives me the chance to still do some of that, have fun and meet like minded individuals! I have opted to jump in to the GBB camp, I'm sorry but the high cap AEGs, do just seem a little too unrealistic and it it the realism of GBB that is part of the attraction of the sport to me. I can also see myself amassing quite an armoury of GBB guns, purely out of self interest and to collect them, running them out every now and then on game days!! I've also followed the crowd with sheep like predictability and got myself and M4 type platform. I just like the adaptability and user friendliness of it, having only fired it a small number of times while serving, I'm sure my tastes and collection will widen as time goes on! With regards to kit and loadout, I've been sheep like again, and gone for MTP. This was not quite in service when I left and it seemed to be the answer to all our prayers, in replacing the two sets of everything we already had and it came with the cudos of an SF heritiage. I have an eclectic mix of knee pads, gloves, torches and eye pro, from my service days, I got my MTP very cheap from Patrol Base in Yorkshire and I've ordered an Emerson FAST type helmet, because I think they look cool and I want to stop banging my head on stuff! I've also ordered a Bulldog Mk2 Assault Armour carrier in MTC from UKMC. Based on my service experience I've gone for a deal with lots of pouches I can move around and something that will carry all I need to run with in a game! Like I said, I'm following the sheep!! Baaaaa!! It's not really designed to look like anything or anyone, but I guess it will be compared to UKSF/USSF type load outs. It's just gear I like and If I was still serving would be using if i had the option to, call me a gear tart!! lol I'll add pics as and when I have them. I'm currently working in London and living in Essex, so If anyone knows of any mid week evening games or anything at the weekend, please give me a shout, it would be great to come along and meet some like minded bods and have a laugh. By the way, it's not me in the profile pic, even though it's my old Regiment, but I just love the horse's crazy expression! I've been there brother!! I'll close with this for all the grunts out there!!
  12. Very Impressive! Improvise, adapt, overcome! Lovin' it!
  13. wow! I really do admire your patience in knocking this up in the first place! Top job! Sorry to chip this in when you've done all the work, but I've only just joined the forum, the Mk6s Mk6A and the Mk7 are, as you know all ballistic helmets, and that mean they have some weight, but the old style para helmet (not the old old Steel one!) is virtually identical to a Mk6 and weighs next to nothing! Great for the heat of the Afghan summer! Not so great when real bullets start flying as they aren't ballistic! I'm sure you could pick one up on e-bay or somewhere? Falling that, start your own reproduction business! Good look! Can't wait to see it finished!
