The 'What have you just bought' Thread
Mr Monkey Nuts replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
A Friday night drive up to Mateyguv in Chester and after a tour around his amazing mancave came home with this beauty. A full metal Magpul lower, VLTOR upper, with a Madbull JP 19inch barrel. for the princely sum of 50 of the queens finest sterling. I initially only wanted the reciver, but the whole thing is amazing quality, it would be a real shame to not use the barrel as well. It even came with a gearbox inside, which after a tinker works, a bit inconsistent and only shooting 270, but after a little work should be a cracking gun. Thanks again Mateyguv. -
Just because a pistol will shoot to 35m doesn't mean its effective to 40 yards, with well placed, timed, aimed shots its likely you can hit a man shaped target at that distance, but under pressure and fire is a different situation. The 100mm barrel in pistols just don't give ranged stability to the BB, and all the inconsistencies in your shooting will be amplified. A pistol is great for up to 20m indoors and in kill house settings, but in open fields and woodland with wind and trees, you will find yourself frustrated and outgunned. I have been there, and done that. one thing you could do is put a longer barrel in your pistol and hide it in a silencer, the barrel gives a bit of extra stability, but your still limited to your ability to carry and aim a pistol, and the ammo it can carry. Its also incredibly tiring to hold a pistol in the ready position all day. A rifle with a stock, should always be ready, or half a second from ready at least. you cant do that with a pistol for 6 hours. Where do you play and how long for? in reality most games (excluding milsim) rarely last 2 hours most considerably less, 50 min, and 10 min rest at safe zone seems to be fairly standard, yes? so why carry enough kit to re take kabul? leave as much in the safe zone as you can, take only what you need. you can always come back if your short. - radio pouch, which houses spare batteries, the radio, my torch and some pyro... You don't need batteries, if a battery dies, you die, Return to safe zone. Raido, if you need it, on a belt loop or in a pocket. Torch ..... what use is a torch in a pouch? do you play in the dark? do you need a torch? if you do, attach it to the gun, more usable, you wont lose it and you don't have to carry it. - mag pouch for 4 mags. Fast Mags, £16 for 2 on ebay, they can go directly on any standard belt safely and securely without any other support or rigs. They are rigid, reliable and never fail. Hi caps are noisy, but give a lot of fire power, I am liking three 150rd midcaps, two on the hip one on the clip. - admin pouch for tools, gun battery, etc. lose it, patches are for willy waving in the safe zone not for the field. Use a pocket for maps. - 3ltr water pack. 3 litres? 3 litres? if your only out for an hour why do you need so much water? lose it, well keep it in the safe zone. if you need to drink on the field take a smaller 300ml evian bottle in a leg pocket. - bum bag with 4k rounds, pyro, sweat rags and wallet, etc. Again 4k rounds, I only take 4k to a game and expect to take half of that home, a hicap full in a zippy bag, in your right thigh is all you need to carry on the field. leave the rest in the safe zone. pyro and wallet is a tricky one, personally I leave my wallet and phone in the car, and carry small amounts of cash, I don't trust airsofters, but if they steal £5 I'm not going to cry. Phones, if I have it I'm more likely to use it than talk to new people, its a social game, be social. Pyro is your biggest issue it seems, how much do you use in a game?, you could get a utility pouch on your belt, but I would be tempted to load it all into my right thigh pocket. - 2 pistol mag pouches good call. I have been working on an effective lightweight loadout and I think I'm almost sorted for what works for me. Boots, lightweight DMP trousers, very light and roomy, standard canvas belt, simple surplus, ex issue, wicking t shirt, you can but them for £5, baseball cap or digger hat, possibly a shemagh if you want to protect your neck and face. Gear wise, M4 with mag, 1 point sling, Pistol in drop leg on right thigh, fast mag with two midcaps on left hip. Pyro and spare speed loader, in right thigh pocket, radio in right hip pocket, leaving the left thigh open as a dump pouch. Simples and light. Obviously that's all just my personal opinion and musings on the point, feel free to ignore it all. its a case of trial and error until you find a combination of kit that gives you the right amount of flexibility and comfort.

One thing to remember in the rain is to have decent mesh goggles. Even if your not a fan of mesh, switching to a pair in the rain gives you a major advantage over those using perspecs specs, as even the best glases will steam up or catch droplets on the outside. A Digger hat (or boonie) with some mesh goggles and you will be like shooting fish in a barrel.

I read it as you need to buy a battery that would usually go in a PEQ box, for it to fit in the rear stock compartment.

I think the key question here is why were they seized? GMP can sometimes be tools, but they don't seize property without reason, becaus they have to justify it to a lot of people including a magistrate further down the line. It's also worth noting something like 70% of the items taken by the amnesty were BB guns including some two tones. They may not specifically be yours in the images. One of the first ones handed in locally was a very nice looking WE scar. There are also some that are believed to have been stolen from a local site a few months ago. If they have seized them, it will be in connection with an offence or a potential treat, if so, they should be held as evidence rather than heading to the amnesty. You need to take this up witn GMP and possibly a proper lawyer.

Yes that's the one I bought, it needs to be programmed via a pc, but it's fairly intuitive, the radio is really simple and robust too. The usual ptt with kenwood pin should work well. I also have a baofeng uv5r but it's too much for airsoft, if all you need are the pmr channels then the 888s is perfect.
-
Baofeng 888s and restrict yourself to low power mode and pmr446 channels (still technically naughty). £17 from ebay and takes a standard kenwood connection.

Stolen MOD plates are, granted. But legitimately sourced plates are not illegal to own or purchase. CQC will supply you the same plates they supply the MOD for a big enough cheque, just like they do for many other public and private sector industries. But we digress ... OP if your trying to sell on ex MOD issue kit, you better hold onto the soap in the shower. They don't appreciate it none too much.
-
I'm pretty sure that's not true, do you have the specific legislation to back these claims up? Or do you specifically mean ex MOD owned plates that have found their way onto the open market?

G&G outer barrel (stubby) acquisition.
Mr Monkey Nuts replied to rosscoc87's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I bought all my parts from taiwangun, I will try to find the links later but it basically consisted of: 10 + 4 extension http://www.taiwangun.com/en/outer-barrel-m15-m4-cqb-p-j?from=listing&campaign-id=19 Front sight post http://www.taiwangun.com/en/front-folding-sight-for-m4-m16-series-acm?from=listing&campaign-id=19 250mm tbb Http://www.taiwangun.com/en/precise-barrel-250mm-6-03mm-to-p-90-g36c-src?from=listing&campaign-id=19 It took a bit of time to strip the from end down as the g&g it's a slightly different barrel assembly to a lot of brands, but there are videos on you tube. Don't forget the front sight is fixed to the original barrel so that will need replacing to hold the hand guard in place. The barrel came branded as a SHS so pretty good brand and it was already nicely polished. Saying that losing the extra few inches gave me very little gains in performance or practicality. -
Ooohh matron!

Airsoft guns stolen canvey island

I would be very surprised if any of these are opportune robberies outside of airsoft circles. -

Picked up a new (surplus) pair of DPM trousers and a few lightweight anti static t shirts, went out looking for a goretex smock but couldn't find any stock. -
Why do I keep reading about removing the foam? The foam is what's giving you the full seal...
-
I found powerspray to take half the time of detol and neat detol stinks the house out and is poisonous for animals. There is no easy way to just cut one layer of paint back, your best option is to strip the gun back to parts to fairy and scrub them all. Then start painting black from what you have. Krylon is pretty good paint. it's expensive, but dries fast and doesn't seem to run like cheaper halfords paints.
-
if you do believe that you need to earn your colours and rank then why do we not constantly hear about wearing issue camos? Surely all the squadies should have issues with players wearing dpm and multicam, afterall it's as much your units identity as the beret is.
-
Boots, DPM pants, Black SS T Shirt, Hicaps in my right thigh pocket, dump pouch as my left. And a black baseball cap or DPM boonie, superleggera.
-
It's all very strange, because the same GL-2 holster from fobus but for a pistol with a light/laser attached fits the marui glock perfectly.

Left wing as in: "Something I have disapproved of has happened, so I feel victimised and must shout to all and sundry about it, to have the authorities intervene on my behalf because I have suffered an event and somebody needs to be accountable for my inequality" Right wing would be "Oi dickhead stop blind firing, I am commanding you because my position in society is higher than yours because I am not cheating" A persons views on specific topics can vary and cross the lines of LW/RW. For example, many right wing anti immigration supporters also support the left wing idea of de criminalising drug use. But we digress ...

So that's one very specific instance of glasses being knocked off. I would also say it's a vary rare and quite difficult thing to pull off, even intentionally. Natural reactions for anything that close to your face is to protect it. We raise our hands and turn our heads instinctively. It's more likely I would suggest, that the action of reacting to the muzzle was what removed the glasses, as opposed to the gun moving them and exposing the eye, hence why it hit your cheek and not your exposed eye. I have also just spent 10 min having someone try to intentionally remove my glasses with both my rifle and my pistol muzzles. We can't do it. If you can then you need better eye pro for exactly this situation. Regardless, I agree that being shot at point blank in the eye would tick the very dangerous description. I just see it as a freak accident as opposed to a legitimate risk. I'm not defending blind firing in any way, I don't like it as much as the rest, but I keep reading in this and other threads that being shot at in general is very dangerous, with no specifics or explanation.
-
It does make me chuckle how left wing the majority of airsofters seem to be. I am repeatedly hearing the words very dangerous! It's not really is it? I mean worst case scenario is you get shot in a soft bit of your face / body and get a small boo boo. Rarely will a BB penetrate skin and if it does it's only superficial, pop it out, put a plaster over it and take a couple of paracetamol, it really isn't a biggie. The worst injury is smashed teeth and that's more vanity than actual injury. Either way, none of it is considered very dangerous in my book. We are more at risk of tripping in woodland and breaking a bone than being injured by a bb, no matter what range.
