  1. I recently watched the "not so round table" series of videos on Evike's YouTube channel. The basic premise is the punters post comments and questions and some airsoft "veterans" give answers of their experience and knowledge. There is a bit of sales pitch, but mostly just a couple of lads chatting about airsoft. It's worth a watch. In fact a lot off Evike's you tube is pretty good, they arn't as hardcore SELL SELL SELL, like some others.
  2. That's a pretty impressive draw speed form the first officer.
  3. As ED says no other brand will work, because it's a direct clone of the maruzen (sp?). If you can find their mags then you may have some luck. However they are out of production and most of the internet can't find any so will prolly end up costing you more than the gun did, and there is no guaantee they still won't leak, as they are the same design. It all comes down to a flawed design, copied and then built very badly. Hence the low price.
  4. Google is your friend for this one. There are some really good guides out there for it. The well magazine is very well know as being built by blind fish. Almost nothing in it was made the right size. They can leak from 3 places, the top, the middle and the bottom and repairs range from simply a ptfe fest or soaking the O ring to epoxy and shortening the magazine altogether. It's a fair bit of DIY to make them almost barely usable. Hence why they are so cheeep. Gas wise you are going to lose most if it anyway so don't go filling with any fancy stuff just yet till you fix the magazine leaks. Just normal abbey green gas will be fine for now. You could run a few mags of abbey maintenance gas fist, just to lube the mag and gun see if that help.
  5. I seem to think patrol base may have one on the wall above the techs cave.
  6. It's a pistol, there is nothing to zero.
  7. Some sites have council imposed noise limits which restrict the types of pyro you may use. And some sites won't allow specific types such as smoke indoors for obvious reasons. Some just want to make a bit more money.
  8. Really? So why, if marui are meant to be "the" brand in airsoft; are they making two runners but only supplying one spring? It just doesn't make any sense from a R&D viewpoint. Is the spring available as individual item?
  9. So I got my new tokyo marui glock recently and I'm having a few issues with it. I picked up a guarded enhanced slide and frame kit to give a bit of realism and durability. When transfering the piston housing over to the new slide I noticed there is only one spring in the guide despite having two rails. The retailer tried to claim this as normal. Is it? You can see the silicone in the slide, it's clear it never came with two and I haven't just lost one.
  10. Scale of market is not an excuse for poor trading practices. And scale wise, we have 8500ish member here on one forum. Granted not all are unique, or uk based, but it's still a significant number compared to other hobbies for example para gliders or wakeboarders. Look at the airbana map, you are rarely more than an hour from a site anywhere in the uk, give or take Scotland. There are significantly more places to play airsoft than race tracks, yet the track day industry is worth millions.
  11. Night sights are included with the standard glock, the gun is £120, the mags are £25 each. Delivery is less than a tenner. So I don't know where your getting £206 from?
  12. This has been frustrating me too recently and I honestly don't think it has anything to do with scale. I previously worked in online sale for motorbike clothing and gear, selling mostly top end stuff. There are more people in the uk willing to pay £200 for airsoft than £1200 for a leather jacket. Some stuff was mass produced in the millions and some stuff was limited production runs of 500 for the entire world, we still managed to be able to get hold of stock when we needed it, and if we didn't or couldn't I made it invisible from the customer, but was still on the site and indexable. We had problems with the Italians, such as aprilia because they shut down for the summer. But never the problems we seem to have with airsoft. I don't know the ins and outs of how the airsoft industry works, but retail works on two main supply principles. Distribution and direct import. As far as I can see there are no uk distributors for products. People who import millions of pounds worth of stock into a central uk warehouse and distribute it out to the dealer, who sells it out to the customer. What I believe happens is the shops place their order direct with the factory and import what they want each year. Inevitably meaning that everyone imports the same popular stuff because they know it will sell, and having stock on a shelf not sell is bad. The problem with this method is you are limited by your bank account as to how much stock you can import. You are limited to how much much your bank account can grow because of how much you can sell. And in this economic climate it's difficult to get grants or loans for huge amounts of stock. Meaning the shops are left ultimately stagnating. And don't even get me started on the preowned market, where people believe it's acceptable to sell second hand stuff at 80% retail price.
  13. Really? It would only be £170 to buy brand new without the holster.
  14. After a hassle getting hold of an OHSIBOOM I stumbled across this beauty, a bit more money but much, much nicer. It's amazing how I can't buy a RIF, but can buy a blank firing grenade.
  15. Not particularly as an airsoft gun, but I would love to have a blank firing "Golden Gun" that could be split down into its component parts.
  16. It's three games in no less than 2 months. So on the 56th day your name can be added to the database and you can buy a "RIF" If you are to play at a regular site that has an affiliation with a shop, ie patrol base, zero one, JD et al. They may have annarrangement where you may purchase the gun but they hold it on site for 56 days. But obviously you are limited to only that site. In reality it's only two months, save some pocket money and rent a gun till you have a UKARA.
  17. How do you go about paying duty? I always thought the post office held the item till you paid, but I have just had a package delivered with a £30 duty and not paid anything.
  18. Coolies, what motors do you recommend? Ideally sub £20, but would rather pay for something better if I need to. Shiming is definitely likely to be out as I did it myself and I haven't got a clue. Can you point me towards any decent guides or videos? Most of the ones on you tube don't actually talk you though how to shim, just show you what a shimmed gear should look like.
