Same as it always has been, if you haven't been trained in it don't use it! That same thinking also extends to quick-clot and vascular surgery!

I have been using the Cyma 190 round mags, and they seem to feed ok in my GR16

The issues with complex compound fractures and specifically the femur disecting the femoral artery, is that you no longer know where that vessel is and where the tourniquet needs to be applied. By the nature of our vascular system is is flexible and elastic, and is capable of changing its shape, size and will spasm of its own accord. The femur is a very long strong bone, and the force required to beak it is very significant, that huge force has the potential to splinter bone, meaning the parts you may see sticking out near the knee may not be the primary concern, it may be unseen break much higher in the thigh that is causing the bleed. The higher you place a CAT the less effective it becomes, so it makes this type of patient very difficult to manage.

Never say never, but that's why we have the 999 system to come and do the more clinically complex stuff within a short space of time. I don't carry on the field but, i do have a full ILS kit in my car should I ever need to use it. as a rough guide for an Airsoft first aid kit, I would recommend carrying: Mobile Phone! Triangular Bandage X2 No 2 Ambulance Dressings Micropore Tape Sterile packed Gauze Antiseptic Chlorhexadine Wipes Compression (crepe) Bandage Resuscitation Face Mask Paracetamol or even co-codamol Piriton / Cetirizine / Loratadine Tweezers (for stings bites and splinters) Gloves Alcogel Babywipes All wrapped in a Clear sealable waterproof sandwich bag with a printed list of when each item goes out of date. That kit should be small, light and cover you for most first aid eventualities from big traumatic wounds, to twisted ankles, to wasp stings and to Arrests. Don't underestimate the power of paracetamol pain relief is an often overlooked aspect of first aid and as we are playing outside piriton can make a bad meeting with nettles bearable. Anything that your not comfortable with call in the cavalry.

You should not carry a tourniquet for airsoft!. A torniquet ("Combat Aplication Tourniquet" or otherwise) is for managing major haemorrhage caused by vascular damage, uncontrollable by direct pressure to the site. In reality this equates to a few very specific situations, namely traumatic amputation or partial amputation (including blast trauma) of a limb, and Penetrating trauma to a limb. Can be as a result of blunt trauma, Sharp trauma (stab wounds) or ballistic trauma. The evidence coming out of recent conflicts have noted that CATs significantly increased the mortality rates of blast trauma victims, mainly IED and ground level shrapnel discharges. Soldiers that have their legs shredded by shrapnel and multiple vascular injuries can bleed out very quickly, and with that type of injury there is more than one wound to dress, so the only way to stop the haemorrhage is to isolate the limb. Complications can lead to nerve damage at best, but will inevitably lead to a loss of the limb and a build up of potentially fatal toxins as the cells start to necrose. If a CAT is released incorrectly then it is a death sentence! In airsoft we should never ever be in a position where any of these injurys are a legitimate risk to need to carry one. If you ever do find yourself in a position like this then you need to get onto 999 and move the patient to a suitable assess point for the ambulance crews.

This is my personal opinion review of the Tactical Tailor Mini Mav. Growing in popularity and regularly mustered in airsoft circles is the Tactical Tailor Mini Mav. The Facts American design and built it’s a small, lightweight MOLLE platform for carrying a limited amount of essential equipment on your chest. It’s available in 4 colours, Coyote Brown, Olive Drab, Multicam, and Black and It retails for £35 at TacticalKit, sans pouches, at time of publishing. The Asymmetric shape of the chest rig gives you essentially one large sector of 6x3 MOLLE loops and two sectors of 1x2 MOLLE on each side. The webbing on the top edge of each side is unusable as its sewn completely flat. This is effective for three standard sized 2x3 magazine pouches, and two pistol/utility pouches. It’s universal MOLLE, so anything and everything will fit, so long as you have the space for it. The finish is very high quality, the stitching is fairly neat, there are no loose ends and everything seems to be double stitched if not triple stitched in the key areas such as MOLLE and the straps and buckles. , there is no loose MOLLE and they are all evenly spaced and tight. The buckles are made of a sold plastic, neither brittle nor soft, they shouldn’t flex bend or snap in use. The shape with the chamfered edges allows it to sit comfortably under the armpits and don’t interfere with shouldering a rifle on either sides in any shooting position including prone. The Tan colour is pretty standard, I have mine fitted with Warrior Tan pouches and they blend perfectly, and as tan is tan it works well with a range of colours and camos. It utilises three straps. The two shoulder straps cross over in an X shape on your back, approximately between your shoulder blades, They give a comfortable and solid support from sideways movement, and allow you to bear the weight quite high up your shoulders and back. They are approx 40mm wide, however they are not padded. Beware overloading the rig as the straps can become quite uncomfortable. The waist strap is simply that, it goes around your waist and keeps the lower edge from riding up or flailing in use. All the weight is supported by the shoulder straps. Sizing.... Just because it’s a small rig, doesn’t mean it’s a small rig. The kit was designed for Adults to wear, and not just adults, ‘Murican sized adults. If you are 12 or if you have a 38inch or less chest, then this rig will not work for you! Due to its small size it relies on the straps being adjusted tight enough to hold it securely onto to your body, if the straps are loose it will swing and move when running and when trying to draw a magazine. This is not a suitable rig for a small /young player I’m afraid. It comes with plenty of strapage so I shouldn’t be too concerned about it fitting the larger player. Conclusion of the facts: This is not your standard China made tacticool imitation; it’s a very well made piece of military grade equipment designed with the sole aim of carrying small amounts of equipment. The Opinion: I suspect this chest rig was never made with the intention of ever seeing a militarized war zone. Its design, size, simplicity and price point lead me to believe it was designed for the stereotypical American “Range Hero”, “Prepper fantasist” and “Bug Out” / “Home defence” markets. If you only use a single strap over a shoulder it also works very well as an “out of the way” bandoleer, although it does reduce reload times. You could loadout with 6 airsoft AEG magazines comfortably, however 6 gas mags became quite heavy and uncomfortable for an all day skirmish, due to the small unpadded straps. I Personally like to limit it to three on the chest one in the gun. The mags are held quite high on your chest in comparison to a more traditional belt kit or plate carrier where they would be lower towards your waist, this can cause problems with slings and the more layers of MOLLE you add outwards the more difficult it gets to manoeuvre and transition the rifle. It’s also worth noting if you are of the Female persuasion, the angles change from a vertical pull to a more horizontal pull, because of boobies. My other half tried to draw a mag with it on and subsequently punched herself in the face. There are Alternatives, Blue force gear do light chest rig the Minus and the ten speed are both very good, although tree times the price of the mini Mav. HSGI, 5.11, Blackhawk and even Crye all do lightweight chest rigs for <£50. You will not be able to play a 48hour mill sim with this rig alone, but for a light weight compact chest rig the mini Mav is very effective. Remember the KISS principle, Keep It Simple Stupid, if you load it out with only what you need on your chest it will serve you well, if you are the player who want to take a spare bottle of gas, a bottle of bbs, a first aid kit, half a dozen magazines and three torches then this is not the rig for you. [TL:DR] Final conclusion: The Tactical Tailor Mini Mav is a very high quality Mil Spec piece of kit that will either liberate you or limit you, but it should stand up to all the Airsoft abuse you can throw at it and then some. But be mindful of the sizing and avoid if you’re of small frame. If you want a lightweight simple chest rig to carry no more than 3 magazines, then this should definitely be on your shortlist.

I have, several ...

Gas guns are great, untill you get that slowly leaking mag, drop it on the feed lip, have to carry 8 mags for a two hour skirmish, replacing the bucking every other month, stink of propane all day, have the mini panic attack in the chrono line and finally out-gunned by 12 year olds with rifles that cost less than two of your gas mags.

Its got to be removable, all receivers follow the same basic design. The RAS will attach onto a barrel nut, you then take the barrel nut off to remove the barrel, you may need an armourers wrench or a hammer and punch to do it though. On second thoughts I was under the impression that the G&G RAS wasn't actually a proper free floating RAS, and was split able with the traditional delta ring? The G&G barrel is quite nifty too, its made up of three pieces, the receiver end, a smaller diameter tube and a faux outer barrel with the sight post. All three separate with grub screws. in theory you could find a tube to replace the middle section for whatever length you want. But bare in mind you cant remove the sight post, which a DMR wouldn't have. For the right look you need a new barrel and a long RAS. The SR-25 uses either a 24, 20 or 16 inch barrel, so approximately 18 12 or 10 inch RAS respectively, but it has to be a proper free floating barrel. Getting those will be £60+ even for the cheapest. And that's before you even start with the internals, making it accurate and consistent. If all your doing is tarting up an M4 its not a DMR. [ETA] I just realised you are looking at a Mk12 so you need an 18inch barrel and a 12 or 14 inch RAS http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5KU-18-Inch-M4-Barrel-MID-For-AEG-5KU-134-/281055251662?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item417032ccce http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M4-RAS-MRE-KNIGHT-UTG-WEAVER-QUAD-WEAVER-RAIL-Long-Sight-M4-rail-accessories-/390605166463?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item5af1e1d77f

More likely than not something got caught or was pushing on the plate when you put it back together, strip it down and carefully re build it and see if it still happens. It worked for me.
-
In a word .... Yes. It's about 3cm low at 10m so pretty significant. If I put the magpul front on and leave the A sight down (it's collapsible) they are pretty accurate, but look silly. I'm running a simple red dot now and it's pretty effective, so with the micro dot it should solve both issues.

Making a decent loadout/setup
Mr Monkey Nuts replied to Kommandant_Epicness's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
You are best off avoiding any form of vest/webbing/plate carrier until you have things you need to put in it. Wearing a plate carrier for a single spare hi cap makes you look like a twit. A good pair of surplus boots, and a pair of surplus trousers from your local army surplus shop (google it) or Ebay. I got an Olive, Tan and Black fleece from decathlon for £4 each, they go with most loadouts and are not too bulky now the weather is changing. Gear is a cycle, you start with nothing, then you buy everything! loadout with 6 hicaps 3000 bbs, 3litres of water and wonder why your knackered after 2 hours, then you ditch it all and return to running mags in your pockets and then you load up again, each time the circle rotates, the price of the gear gets exponentially more expensive. -
Almost finished my M4, I'm just waiting on an AFG, T1 microdot and a vltor mini gas block. There will also be be a 6.02 407mm barrel and a M300a finding its way onto it, bank balance permitting. With a gassed mag it weighs in at 3Kg, which I'm told is an accurate weight to a proper M4. So far it lines up as: G&P Magpul / Vltor receiver. 2 piece barrel (9.5 inch and 14 inch) Free float RAS. Genuine Magpul XTM covers. Genuine Magpul Grip. Genuiine Magpul CTR stock. Repro Magpul Back up sights. GHK M4 GBB conversion. G&G Green Rubber SHS 6.03 247mm barrel TM Glock: Guarder Frame, slide, inner barrel and 150% spring. I'm also working on a Marksman M4 AEG as a backup field gun.

Doesn't that go without saying for anywhere you go?

Best Gun/ Build for under £1000 (NOT PTW'S!!!!)
Mr Monkey Nuts replied to CaptainDumbass's topic in General Discussion
Personally, in my opinion? There are much better things to spend a grand on than an airsoft gun, especially when you consider that you can buy various very good aegs for a £600 budget. -
That's interesting, what's your experience of them?
-
Propane for £7.20? Where from? The absolute cheapest I have found it is £9, even the caravan shops sell it for £11 a bottle. Yes £30 vs & £7 is a cracking saving and i'm all on board for that, but what i'm trying to ascertain is if those are actually achievable figures? I do respect your opinion, however what you are stating is purely anecdotal, I fail to see how when using two gasses of essentially the same product, one can yield 4 times the efficiency, with such a small volume change.

Well with that revelation, I bet he came to bleed the NHS dry and rape the benefits system too, better double tap him in the face and ring the daily mail for tea and medals!

It's a child and his his grandmother ..... stop being so delicate!

Lol well you did stick your duck in a bees nest. May I suggests nipping over to Mumsnet and asking how much can childbirth really hurt? I'm not defending them, but like the aforementioned daily mail comments section ARRSE is reserved for a very select breed of fliptard!

Cheers guys, this is the first time I have heard of refilling a smaller bottle, it would also allow the taller / slimmer bottles to be used. I'm purely being lazy, but does anyone know of any links to get the correct adapers and regualtors? Do you not need any flash protectors or anti static devices?, and how to you ensure that you don't overfill the bottle, they should only be 80% to allow for temperate gas expansion iirc? This may help cav?
