I like to run a pistol only up to about 20 metres after that I feel more comfortable with my rifle. My personal preference is to unclip my rifle and leave it to relax on a wall while I run in. If I was at a CQB site where all the engagements were going to be less than 20 metres I'd happily run with just a pistol, but I'd want to go from 3 to 5 mags. Not that I would use them most likely, I just like to have a bit more ammo than I generally use to hand.

I'm not sure about that- in my experience I've always found airsoft more painful than paintball at a normal skirmish level. I'm sure 'speedball' or whatever it is hurts more than normal paintball, but there's an equal amount of pain no matter what type of skirmish, be it a milsim or a normal turn up day.
As well as this, BBs only have a few mm that hits you, meaning that over a joule of force is being transmitted to your skin in a very small area.
In general paintballs seem to fly at a much lower velocity, and the low force from a paintball is felt in a much larger area.
This means that the force from a paintball hitting your arm will be displaced over a larger area and the feeling will be less intense than a BB hitting you with much more force over a smaller surface area.
 
A good analogy for this would be the cork board pressure/surface area link. If you took a pin and a bolt and applied the same amount of force onto the corkboard through them, the pin would go in and the bolt wouldn't. This is because the head of the pin has a smaller surface area than the face of the bolt, so more pressure is applied over a smaller area meaning less force is displaced.

My work mates repsonses are usually somethine like "Why don't you just join the army and go to Afghan".
 
I understand from the outside looking in we're a bunch of grown men running round with toy guns but it's not affecting their lives in anyway so stay the f*ck out of it.

But can you imagine having to share a room with people like that for a living? I can remember in basic, our training corporals trying to get us to look down on civvies as a lower class of human being. Wherever you go in the world there will always be people who think they are a step above and like to do people down but there was no need for that.
 
If those low lives who made those comments are actually serving (which I doubt is the case), they in particular DO NOT deserve our respect at all and I am ashamed they can been seen a representative of me and my former colleagues dead and alive by some people or even themselves.

Let's be honest, we've all lost it from time to time. This time of year seems to be a little more active. Adrenalin is pumping, temperature is on the up (thank a diety) and people get more irritable. I lost it last month as there was a guy who wouldn't take his hits for tish. Single shots, nope, full retard, nope! My comeback was to pick up the LMG from the guy next to me and lace him with about 300 rounds. Still nothing. So I skipped up to him, politely informed him that perhaps he may wish to take his hits of the sniper behind us (hooray for coms) would give him a red dot for a week.
He accepted my offer and walked off. The Marshall had seen everything, had a word in his ear and he took the rest of his hits.
Moral of the story?
Get a marshal to do the dirty work. Being a knob achieved nothing.

Most sites are 350 so don't worry about it.

Ultimately if someone isn't taking they're hits then pepper them till they do. That way they will learn for next time it's a lot less painful to call hit after 2 or three rather than 30, especially when there's a few of you shooting at once and one of them has a moscart lol

Best way to get a feel for airsoft guns is to go and play a skirmish and hire one for the day

The point of this is they seem all about the money, a couple of people have realised there's some cash to be made from players wanting a cheaper option and who can blame a player for that Airsoft is a costly hobby in three years it's cost me about £7k or more (stupid I know) and then adding membership on top for some sites it's expensive so these have taken advantage of this fact but to IGNORE the basic checks is just madness and they call it someone TRYING to breach their security well I am sorry trying wasn't hard and I breached it alright could have wiped my arsed with it and they wouldn't have noticed. It just annoys me they after this being brought to light they still act so relaxed about the whole thing like it means nothing. a JOKE from my point of view.

They have blocked people for calling them out on data issues like this. Instead of addressing things properly they make up a half arsed, poorly written excuse, with made up statistics, that will tide over the majority of people, and block all the people who won't let it slide.

I personally have no issues with selling RIFs to anyone at all. If they act like a dick with it, so what? They'd have only bought it from someone else anyway, or bought a two tone and painted it, or bought an air gun. Then they'll be let off anyway because there's a million and one loop holes they could've obtained a RIF through anyway.

It is the principle of a defence that I stand by and that stops me from just becoming an underground black market gun launderer for the non-defence holding masses. The need for a defence is an utter waste of everyone's time and effort.

But BAC are shitting on that principle by pretending they have all these things in place to legitimise it, when they clearly do not. If they did, then they wouldn't have had to make up those percentages they stated.

I'm surprised you didn't get a more emphatic version of this already: DO NOT USE WD40! Keep that stuff well away from any part of your gun. Petroleum-based lubes will degrade the rubber parts of your weapon, as Swoop mentioned.

Of course Im not going to walk around in the form of a police officer, it is for airsoft only in a limited location.
Here in Russia (south region) we have some rules about airsoft (not legal it's our own), for example do not wear insignia in public places and all weapons must be in bags.
