  1. Not to hijack the thread, but by way of experiment I tested my Galil top cover on my AK project as suggested earlier in the thread . . . . .it fits fine (better than the original!) and shows the rear sight which is in a much better position than the usual AK rear leaf sight, it just sits a little high in this set up. Obviously, same as with Ian I am considering stock options: its a Cyma plastic receiver that the folding stock broke off so the holes were filled (TM based clone), and fitted with a modified TM Beta Spets outer barrel front end and real wood AIMS foregrip: Also refering to Ians quest for a new stock, pictured is the folding stock on my Cyma Galil, similar to the original LR300 style but obviously without the complication of a AK to M4 mounting system so possibly another option?:
  2. The LR300 stock is fairly heavy and comfortable. I have a A&K LR300 long with a suppressor, which has the battery in the foregrip yet its not particularly front heavy. Without a side rail it should sit nicely on your gun I reckon. Mag wise I guess use one appropriate to needs, if its your primary go for the ginormous RPK, or as sniper back up then the short spets one would be less cumbersome? That railed top cover looks good, have to say I've not seen one anywhere but equally haven't been searching extensively, but yeah it would open up sighting options. The Cyma Galil one I have has a flat mounting for the rear sight which is bolted in place and gives a nice long sight base for iron sights, though I guess a short rail could be fitted if preferred. I also found the rail on that foregrip just a tad short even for stubby grip attachments so it could be a struggle. . . . . !
  3. If that's the case then I stand corrected, though 500fps for AEGs was mentioned in a US site review a couple or more years ago in AI Mag (iirc).
  4. IIRC in "Sons of Guns" about Red Jacket Firearms, the owners daughter started a new line in custom real M4's aimed at women, with bright yellow furniture so the distinction between real and airsoft is still blurred lol!
  5. Airsoft Mr B, you'd still have to pay import duty at customs unfortunately, as well as informing the airline in advance you want to carry a rif, possibly paying for excess luggage weight , as well as proving your defence to customs, but yeah you'd save on shipping. Since US fps levels can be much higher (up to 500fps on full auto) I'm not sure I'd go for Airsoft, but hell I'd love to go to a real steel shooting experience!
  6. Looks a good project Ian! That HM/CM stock looks the db's! Personally I think I'd go for that on looks alone, just looks so badass! May be lacking in weight though, and I've no idea how rigid it would be, but that goes for any sliding stock in fairness. As it folds to the left there could be issues with it interfering with a side mount rail, but you'd have same issue with the LR 300 stock too probably. That Tanker style stock looks good too but again the sliding rails could well interfere with holding the pistol grip, assuming its wide enough to clear the pistol grip/receiver to start with, and maybe it just looks a bit too "complex" for a Soviet gun? I know what you mean about disliking crane stocks, but what about an ordinary original M4 stock? You could stuff the stock tube with weight too to counter the suppressor, and it looks simple and functional as befits a Soviet style gun. Tbh I wouldn't use one of those folding grips for 2 reasons, firstly they are aren't very rigid in the vertical position, and second that big bolt head release digs into your hand badly, frankly they are uncomfortable, I had a very similar one on a tactical AK and it very quickly got relegated to my bits box. That skeleton grip looks just the ticket however imo. With the short sight radius I agree a red dot would be a good idea, if the top cover is solid enough that's where I would put it in an ideal world rather than ahead of the top cover, but it could mean a bodge to fit a rail on there. If a Galil top cover would fit, that has a small flat mounting area at the rear which could be utilised for either a dot, or even irons if something the right height could be found. Anyways just my thoughts, also inspiring me to get the stock on my own hybrid AK sorted!
  7. Ended up in a one on one pistol duel in a fairly open bit of woodland, I was leaning back on a slope with small bushes behind and either side and as we were both firing pistols through vegetation it was a little stalemated. A marshall and several dead players were watching from about 20m away. As it had been raining earlier I was wearing my DPM water proof jacket. Next thing I hear a pyro being lit so lie back flat, grenade comes through the air and lands behind my head, no choice but to move rapidly away, grenade fuse still sounds just as loud though.. . . . BANG! It had landed in the hood of my jacket so full credit to Will for that one, proper fluke! Spectators were wetting themselves, I couldn't hear for about ten minutes!
  8. Have you tried a different gas can? Could be the pressure too low, when a gas mag is filled some will be in liquid form and being heavier will sit at the lowest point of the mag. IIRC liquid gas will expand much faster than that which is already gas hence upside down it will have a lot more pressure as it will be liquid gas coming out the valve , this is shown in the white vapour cloud when fired upside down along with the action cycling much faster, (in OP case the gun fire's due to this) which is why manufacterers and retailers will tell you not to fire a gas gun upside down, it can allegedly result in destroying the gun spectacularly if higher power gas is used.
  9. G & G are very well thought of but there have been a few threads on here regarding G & G gen 3 Mosfet problems, advice seems to be to get the non mosfet gen 2. If it was me it would be the G&P on account of the better externals & markings.
  10. Ah right, no the arm on the side that latches snapped clean off due to being made of cheese. Trying to avoid the expense of a whole new receiver and stock assembly tbh, and in any case an under folding stock won't work now with the AIMS wood foregrip hence thinking of some sort of M4 adapter. May yet attempt to make one from resin embedded with fibreglass as a specific fit. Cheers Ian.

  12. Hey Ian, which AK versions will that adapter fit? I have an old Cyma CM 028s which I'd like to do something similar with as the folding stock broke so filled the holes in the stock and fitted an AIMS foregrip to a modded front end, hence needs a stock sorting now.
  13. That's good to know thanks mate, heard that some modelling clays and such like can shrink, got a modelling project in mind so will look at using Fimo then!
  14. Nice work Ian, did you have any issues with the Fimo shrinking during curing?
  15. Fair comment. Yeah that Wolf one does look nice tbh.
  16. That ebay one looks like its for an MP5A variant. IIRC Cyma do a railed MP5K Charger, my local Airsoft shop had one a couple of months ago £140 I think.
  17. Main topic seemed to be what biscuits they're all having. Hardcore.
  18. Just like the Dakota transport "crash" on A Bridge Too Far. . . . . . Love that film though!
  19. I agree. If OP can't resolve with seller then put all the facts in Feedback. Before buying anything from the forum classifieds its always worth checking to see if anyone has had problems with a seller.
  20. WE gas is probably heavier as it has silicon lube in too?
  21. OK not a film, but the "Sharpe" series, specifically the battle scenes, which never seem to feature more than a total of about 20 combatants in what historically were some huge battles. Like Sharpes Waterloo where they defend the farmhouse as its the only bit small enough to get away with so few people! The film Waterloo on the other hand is epic with a cast of thousands and incredible battle field panoramic filming. Apart from the cavalry charge where the officer is obviously riding a rocking horse. . . .
  22. Yeah, he's rediculously gung go. And some of the Seals appear to be wearing SS dot camo when taking the house with the missiles out, not sure how that blends in with the local wear!
  23. Banning sale or import would only prevent future buying / selling and wouldn't affect the hundreds of thousands of airsoft guns, ifs and rifs out there already. My point was aimed at the earlier post regarding worries airsoft could get banned at some point, that AFAIK the only way this would be possible would be to make ownership (or otherwise "being in possession of") airsoft guns illegal, which would largely kill the sport even if sites could continue with hire guns, as most of us like to own and use our own. Heaven forbid that should ever happen!
  24. The only way airsoft could be banned would be to make OWNERSHIP illegal, let alone selling of rifs. Its unlikely to happen but that's not to say it couldn't if govt of the day was of a mind, which currently isn't the case.
