I have ordered a box for my Owen gun.
    Box size: external: 40 x 30,5 x 24 cm internal: 38,4 x 28 x 21

My plan is to print various WW2 posters (recruiting, propaganda etc.) and photo's and use PVA to cover the exterior. Then varnish over the top to protect it.
Then I will need some sort of catch and some carrying handles. The interior will require some dividers and foam padding. I won't be able to plan the interior until I have the Owen gun.

Looks like the graves of 2 airsofters. I might stick with a wooden coathanger.

I could really use some sort of rack for my webbing though, it gets all tangled kept in a drawer.

For a sniper, I would suggest the best sidearm is the TM MK23 Socom, purely because it is very quiet and accurate.

Funniest use of props I have encountered: In a WW2 rifles only game our team were told to go and investigate a hut complex and report back on enemy activity and look out for any important looking documents etc. We got ambushed and had high casualties but a pile of papers was retrieved.
It would seem that the German Officer (one of the organisers) had misplaced his copy of the game plan. What we had obtained was not the important documents we were supposed to be looking for and now the German team had no idea what they were supposed to be doing. Our officer upon seeing the important documents we had obtained for him, had a nervous breakdown as he realised that the game had gone horribly wrong.

Nice. I reckon she'd look even nicer with wooden furniture though. It's personal preference, but I always think a gun looks better if it has some woodwork on it.

I would love to see a G3 with under slung MP5, with under slung MP5K. It would serve no purpose but would be hilarious.

Liquid blanco in Natural webbing colour. Yay more blancoing!
Having received for Xmas a 2nd set of P37 webbing, I can now start tailoring a set to my Aussie impression. For a British impression the webbing has to be blancoed to make it green in different shades according to the period. It took me a while but I eventually discovered that the correct colour for Aussie webbing is no blanco at all. Apparently the Aussies never saw the point of all that extra work, just as they used tan boots so they didn't have to keep them shiny.
So I have washed one set of webbing and scrubbed as much blanco out as possible. Now to hide the residual green and make it look unblancoed, I am going to have to blanco it. Can anyone else see the irony?
I have incidentally recently dyed my Aussie uniform to green which would have matched the colour of my webbing and now my webbing will go back to a khaki colour which would have matched the original colour of my uniform. It will however look awesome
The next planned webbing alterations are to get 2 more ammo pouches and sew them to the sides of the large pack, a trick common to both the Aussies and Chindits. Then I shall obtain a 5x 30 round Thompson magazine pouch and alter it to fit P37 webbing instead of the left ammo pouch. This will make an Aussie Owen gun mag pouch.

What I wish new players would do is look at different guns and then ask us to suggest the best version of that gun for their budget. That way we would not be stuck with recommending combat machines. The G&G combat machine range are good beginners guns IF YOU WANT AN M4. For similar money you could get a Cyma AK, a JG G36...
There are a lot of different guns available and it's fun to see what happens when you turn up to sites with anything other than an M4. I should know, I typically have a Sten and an SMLE and never have to be bored with no-one to talk to in the safe zone
Can't wait until my Owen gun is ready, it's going to be a custom 1 of a kind and most people will have never heard of it.

A standard M4 mag will fit most MK43's. Try one and if it works fine then you know the issue is the box mag.
Check the feed tube for any kinks, if the tube is kinked it will stop bb's from feeding. If it looks fine, try cleaning it with some alcohol/meths and some rag on your cleaning rod.
Useful video of how to take the mag apart:

Even though this is pretty simple, I'm sure there are more of you who like me have thought, "I just don't need even 2L of water on my back for a game and any weight I can shave off my loadout is all to the good," but when faced with the prices of smaller hydration bladder and pouch combos, or just the pouches, have thought, "Bollocks!" How can the smaller ones be so expensive, eh? It's not as if they a miniature and requiring additional craftsmanship or anything

Anyway, I managed to find a 1.5L bladder at a sensible price here which comes pre-fitted with a Camelbak stylee removeable bite valve and tap (which are £8 on their own), so that you can decant the water into a cup, or a hand (to rinse a BB fragment out of your eye without scratching your eyeball for eg). I then bought a simple 2-3L size molle bladder pouch from here - what I wanted was lightweight and OD and you can't get much simpler unless you dispensed with the outer molle and the insulation pocket. I wanted the opportunity to fit a piece of old camping mat to prevent my body heat warming the water, but that would make sewing it a little less than completely straightforward.

It's a simple enough job to turn the pouch inside out, but then you find that the edge seams are bound with 20mm black webbing - great for the quality of the item and its longevity, but a bit of a ball ache to undo with a seam-ripper. I then had to cut the angles which allow holes in the bottom of the insulation pocket, so that any water which may get inside can run out of the bottom, and refinish them with the bits of thin edge binding which were originally lower down. Then it was a simple job of cutting the webbing seam binding to size, pinning it and sewing the new seams:

...ignore those straps with the metal hooks - they're from the webbing it's now attached to.

I then wanted an admin panel on the back as it's no good having patches and no velcro to attach them to. So I used a couple of layers of the pouch leftovers, some UBACS elbow neoprene, bit of 20mm OD webbing, and some velcro:

...big enough for an NAE patch, but most likely to be carrying an AF-UK one
(as it doesn't fit neatly on the front of the webbing).

Turned out remarkably neat for one of my creations so yeah, forget blue bladders, or £50-odd combos, and make your own!

Try without ice. Ice will reduce the flavour so all you would get is the taste of the alcahol. At room temperature you will get more of those flavours you had afterwards.
