  1. It was originally written as a recruitment tool for the US army...
  2. Have a look at this: http://www.airsoftsniperforum.com/43-longrange-aegs/892-holy-grail-building-your-dmr-aeg.html
  3. That says to me that the previous owner had the same issue.
  4. Who are you sending it back to? What are the terms of the warranty? Do you have an RMA? In general terms if the goods are not fit for purpose then the seller is supposed to cover return postage or arrange collection. However the chances of you getting them to send you a new one before they have received the one you have told them is faulty (I assume you have actually agreed that it's faulty and they have agreed to change it) and verified that is indeed the case are slim to none. If you haven't told them and it's just going to land in their mail box with a hastily scribbled note saying "I want one just like this but not fucked" then yeah, two hopes - Bob Hope and No Hope.
  5. Regards to the nozzle I've had a response from G&G (see post previous to yours) and they've confirmed that it's 21.1 mm which puts it into "probably an M4" range. I'm going to give one of the Lonex air seal ones a try and if that doesn't work I'll just splash out on a proper G&G one. As for Taiwan....well, it depends on who you ask. Yes, Taiwan is a sovereign state with its own government (Republic of China) but Taiwan says that the Peoples Republic of China is theirs and that the communist government is having a bit of a laugh, Beijing on the other hand says they own Taiwan (they claim it's their 23rd province) and that THEY have dominion over all of China. The nub of it is that they no longer have membership of the UN and indeed are not recognised by the UN and are widely unrecognised by other countries. There's still nations that maintain diplomatic relationships with the ROC but not everyone. They're kind of the Far East version of Scotland really.
  6. Not enough mass. You'd achieve 340FPS (or whatever) and that would remain constant. To be fair the only reason it would damage satellites is because they have a habit of orbiting at ludicrous speeds so the closing velocity would be high. If you went up on the space shuttle (or some dodgy as fuck piece of repurposed Soviet crap) and shot at your mates with your P* then you'd be travelling at the same relative velocity so you'd just hit them with a 340FPS BB.
  7. Ah but you wouldn't though. In a vacuum there's no air resistance to slow the BB down. Your shots would basically carry on infinitely until they end up in the heart of a star or pinging off a comet. Or tearing a hole through a multi-million dollar satellite.
  8. Once the BB leaves the end of the barrel the spin creates lift. That lift will be reduced if the turbulence generated by the spin becomes too great which can easily be exacerbated by surface imperfections in the BB interfering with the laminar layer of air surrounding the BB. To me at least it seems there would be far greater impact on range and consistent shot grouping from external forces acting on the BB and from the surface of the BB itself for this very reason.
  9. IT'S WEIRD AND WRONG AND MUST BURN FOR ITS SINS!!!!!!!!!
  10. The laws of physics don't conflict. That kind of the point. It's people understanding (or indeed lack thereof) and a lack of proper demonstration of the variables that leads to confusion.
  11. WWhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy????????? Unless you're considering a career in developing pissy little apps to run on a Raspberry Pi that you can use to impress both the other people on Facebook that give a crap Linux is POINTLESS. Save yourself the grief of trying to dual boot your machine and just BUY A COPY OF WINDOWS!
  12. Ubuntu specifically or Linux in general? Doesn't matter NODOBY writes games for Linux. Seriously.
  13. M4 muzzle brake on an AK?!?!?!?! WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?!?!?!!?
  14. Really? You've never seen this: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/SpringChart.php then. Springs from different manufacturers can vary by quite a bit.
  15. All the Bolle Tactical range are but the Bolle Safety range are not. There is still always the risk with glasses of getting a BB round the side of the frame which full seal goggles eliminates.
  16. Has anyone actually quantified this though? Or is it just a psychological difference. I know the Deans connector has more copper in it and in theory has a better contact area so in theory it should be better but if all you're doing is changing the connector I very much doubt you'd get a huge difference unless the original Tamiya connector was badly fitted. Granted it's one of a number of things that all help contribute to better trigger response but there's far worse parts of the powertrain that would be a better point for upgrade (motor connectors for example).
  17. Yes you can. Have a look at www.componentshop.co.uk
  18. First off you need to understand what you're asking - it's a rare beast (in a UK shop at least) to find a gun that can be used as a DMR off the shelf. So do you want a DMR style rifle that you can then upgrade the performance on? If so then you could probably spend less on the actual rifle but make up the difference buying the upgrades and getting it working properly. What's your level of ability in terms of gearboxes and fitting internal upgrades?
  19. Shimming. FML.

Not my gun so I didn't spend ages on it to be fair. It's in an old ICS MP5 SD6, new set of ZCI metal bushings and ZCI CNC gears (it had chewed the original bevel) and it seems they needed WAY more shims to be even close to right than I thought possible!

      Sitting Duck

wow - that breaks the norm as bushings normally need a couple of thinest shims per gear

But been robbed blind of shims when doing bearing box builds - ah well is working now

  20. Yeah I'm thinking of going for a Lonex one: 19.63mm - AK Series 20.40mm - MP5-A4/A5/SD5/SD6 Series 20.73mm - P90 Series 20.77mm - M16A1 VN/XM177E2/CAR-15 Series 20.96mm - LMG Series 21.05mm - MP5-K/PDW Series 21.13mm - PSG-1 Series 21.20mm - G3-A3/A4/SG-1/MC51 Series 21.22mm - M16A2/M4A1/SR16 Series 22.26mm - SIG 550/551/552 Series 24.27mm - G36 Series 24.60mm - AUG Series 24.61mm - M14 Series as it seems to be a bit closer.
  21. Nope. You need to look for EN166 ratings. But you're right in as much as EVERYTHING the OP linked to is cheap crap.
  22. You're selling at just about the worst time of year. Nobody has any money left from Xmas and any they got as gifts will have been spent. Plus to be honest you are asking top money for a used item. Usual rule of thumb is that a second hand gun is worth no more than 70% of its retail value IF it's pretty much as new. You've admitted it's got some usage scratches and it's been skirmished so I would say nearer 60% to be honest. £200 is probably a fairer price. Good luck with selling it though, looks like a nice gun.
