Ankle and lower leg support, I guess. I can't comment on any benefits/drawbacks of 6 inch boots as I have only ever used full sized ones, but I guess you get more freedom of foot movement with them?

That seems to be a Tec 9. Not sure about the external battery mounting though, why not just make it GBB?

The gun models in a lot of FPS games nowadays are extremely detailed, you can definitely see the difference between them! Anyway, my regular site is criscrossed by ditches filled with brackish, muddy water. They're a bit of a health hazard, so the safety briefing always reminds players tht the only way you're allowed to get across them is by using bridges. So we're midway through the day, and I'm merrily picking off targets with my DMR when all of a sudden I hear splashing coming from the ditch behind me- some idiot had crawled through the ditch system (risking his health) just to come and 'kill' me with his rubber knife!

The MPL is made by Walther. It's still pretty niche though! All of the guns Falcon had with him were extremely different though- and how can you mix an MP5K up with a Scorpion? They're completely different!

If I were you I'd get a nice AK74U for CQB. You'll have mage interchangeability with your woodland gun too, and side mounting optics and rails will be compatible too.

CYMA MP5s are nice to take apart, although the V2 gearbox can be a real hassle to fiddle with. If I were you i'd get a tech to do it, reason being that's your first AEG and you have no backup for if things go wrong.

I've had G&P 30mm Aimpoint clones for years now. I have 2 at the moment, neither have ever let me down- some people have experienced problems with them while using the sight on a GBBR though- the rattling shakes the internal systems too much in some cases.

There are much much nicer plastics to work with. The kind of shite that cheaper guns are made with isn't worth much time.

Maybe something like a KJ Works KCO2 10/22? Those are blowback and semi (most CQB places are semi anyway). Otherwise you won't find any silent rifles. As said by Samurai and Mr_B, your best bet would be an NBB pistol- such as the ASG or TM MK23 or KJW Ruger. KJW also make a carbine version of their Ruger called the Ruger MK1, although the KCO2 is far better IMO.

I'd get my hands on a cheapo combat shirt if I were you. I've played in a T-shirt before and it can welt horribly. You could play in a long sleeve t-shirt however those also tend to be made of a thin material. Combat shirts (even cheap ones, £25 or less) are usually made of thicker, sturdier fabrics- you're less likely to welt in them and the most you'll have are bruises. There is a LOT of lightweight combat gear on the market- you don't have to have a full plate carrier covered in pouches, there's plenty of compact and lightweight chest rigs around. I'd suggest picking one of them up once you properly start airsofting, pockets are all well and good for 1 or 2 spare mags, but you'll probably need a chest rig / belt rig to carry more- same with spare batteries, speed loaders, extra BBs etc. I have a couple of light rigs including a Tactical Tailor Mini MAV. Those are designed for bodyguards to wear under jackets or over body armour. Here's a pic of one: And here's a full size plate carrier in comparison: There are smaller plate carriers around, but with a full pouch load they're still quite bulky compared to rigs like the Mini MAV.

The only FAL about is the King Arms one IIRC. They're not in stock at any trusted retailer.

My worry is that with this system, one of G&G's main selling points (the cost effective Combat machine rifles) will be rendered invalid due to increased production costs and therefore a higher RRP. If G&G have a simple, cheap way of making those complex components without scrimping on quality, then hats off to them; they'll retain the CM range's lower price and the rifles will be much more fun to use, and much cooler than the normal AEGs in the G&G range. However it does seem as if a lot of problems will arise from over complicating a simple AEG. The split gearbox and quick change spring system should be fine, so should the cocking handle and bolt stop assembly- it's the electronics I'm worried about. G&G's MOSFET switches in their Gen 3 Top Techs have a notorious reputation, although I think they only blew because idiots slapped an 11.1V LiPo into them when they were only really designed for lower voltages. They are integrated systems anyway, and not aftermarket 'FET quality.

Welcome to the forums and the sport A good place to start is by going along to a site and renting for a day, this will give you a good idea of how it all works and you'll get the opportunity to speak to some of the regulars there. People are usually more than happy to talk about their guns and kit, and they'll usually let you have a play with their guns as well. Generally speaking, you won't need to practice or anything- that will come later if you decide to join a serious team of sorts. Renting is an inexpensive way for you to have a go without splashing out on a gun, and maybe finding that you don't enjoy it. If you do like it and you wish to buy a cost-effective gun, I would recommend a G&G Combat Machine of sorts. They make them in a variety of models and styles so there's something for everyone in G&G's range. The guide sp00n posted should be very useful for you in regards to information etc.

That's a really impressive collection of stuff, cav! The majority of my gear is laid out in a 1.5m x 0.75m drawer in the bottom of my wardrobe/ikea storage unit thing, with guns relegated to the gun bag under my bed. As soon as I get another rifle I'm going to make some space for a permanent storage solution. I'm thinking pegboard (securely!) mounted on the wall above my desk.

I've got a pair of Oakley SI assault boots which I nicked picked up from TK max for £40. I really love them, one of the best pairs of boots I've ever owned. If you find the anywhere for cheap, don't hesitate. They are up to £165 or so new though.

KSC MP9s are supposed to be quite good- about £250. They also make a Mac 10 for about £150. Other than that the WE MP5s and TM MP7s are your best choices.

This opens a lot of the really cool CO2 guns up to skirmishing- and some of them are really cheap compared to normal GBB pistols

Mags are very expensive, you'll only be able to buy a decent gun for £200-£250. Mags cost a lot extra!
