The 'What have you just bought' Thread
TheFull9 replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
There was a time around the end of the freefloated quad rail era (but before KeyMod) where the latest cool tech in handguards was direct thread attachment i.e. screw-on accessories. The holes in handguards of that era do resemble M-LOK, but the many threaded holes are the key indicator when trying to discern. We're talking right around a decade ago now though so I'd imagine most folks just aren't aware. Honestly it was a great system that made forends thin and light, but often the accessories were proprietary to a given make of handguard which hampered adoption in the market and it all mostly vanished once KeyMod hit the big time. Q are actually kinda going back to it now with their Q-Sert alternative system. -

Mm, with some ex Mauser weapon designers that were around in germany in 1949.. ? Just messing with Spoons obviously, just a choice combo of company + phrase, I think we can safely say HK now is fine. -

A lot of the modern 1-piece scope mounts do cantilever forward and don't require a lot of 20mm slots, what you have should be enough for something out there. Cheek weld may be the other issue, as tends to crop up with designs from the 50s(ish) where optics weren't really accommodated for, so I'd say bear that in mind. -
What are you're rig/vest recommendations
TheFull9 replied to Gavin W's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
That pic is either the Warlord or Denali, I looked up both on google images to see which picture I could find of the most comically huge/overloaded chest rig possible. I think if someone had to gun to my head and forced me to recommend one bit of gear that'd be most likely to the majority of people for sunday skirmishes, I'd probably go for something with the footprint of a Spiritus Thing 2 (other systems are available). -

Any Black Friday deals worth bothering with?
TheFull9 replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Latest News
F-S has TM Hi-Capa 5.1s for £99 and black SCAR-Ls for £400 (amongst other things); wish I wasn't already fully stocked on TM pistols and NGRS. Amazing pair of skirmishers right there. -
I always just get that when I'm not logged in tbh.

At least on desktop the 'remove from wishlist' button vanishes on any completed listing, meaning we can't remove items that are no longer available - only remove items that are still available. A fix for this would be lovely.

The ELCAN replica I have does weigh sufficiently more than my ACOGs to be just about noticeable, but on the flip side the FOV is yuuuge by comparison. So much clearer and far wider viewing angle, fully worth it for me personally. Obviously will vary by clone brand but the design intrinsically has much larger glass so generally this should always be the case I'd imagine. -
Custom glock slides, What would you like to see?
TheFull9 replied to HuttArmouries's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I've recently encountered a situation where I really want a replacement set of plastic frame and slide for a different TM platform, so I do wish such things were available and made from a plastic that's at least as good as TM's stuff. But end of the day all I'd recommend is testing these out as much as you can, iterate to make them as tough as possible, worry about the random weird features that internet strangers will ask for much further down the line. -
From what I've seen, a pretty good portion of all the TS uniforms floating around in the world are either all-cotton or more budget PYCO fabric and they tend to go fairly white after a good bit of use/washes; at least the TSP and Rothco stuff that's been around a while, not sure about the likes of emerson and ilk.

The delta ring around the standard barrel nut isn't a weak point in any way tbh, there's genuinely millions of M16s and M4s in use in the US forces (and all around the world) with that config and if it was a weak part of the design we'd see them break all the time; so you don't need to change handguard for that reason I'd have to say. If you just prefer the look of a freefloat handguard then sure personal choice, what Hatchet says is quite right you either get a handguard sufficiently short enough or get a wraparound, often referred to as an FSP cut/cut out. All you need to determine is the length of your faux gas system in order to choose the right freefloat handguard, unless you want to replace your outer barrel and gas tube of course. There are carbine, mid length and rifle length gas systems generally in terms of what's out there in airsoft form.

What does everyone really think of kickingmustang
TheFull9 replied to Mk46 Mod0's topic in General Discussion
He has the audience he has because of the douchey content, if he posted wholesome stuff purely for airsofters then most likely his follower count would be a fraction of what it is. Now obviously if he were to pull a 180 and start posting stuff that doesn't involve abusive gameplay and probably crimes then that'd be great, but then he'd make a lot less money most likely so that won't happen. My bet is he'll do what he does now until he's arrested or has his channel/s taken down. -
It's always possible I'm missing something but I wouldn't say an SD with fixed stock is inevitable. Certainly possible, but it's not like they remix every possible parts combo and sell it in a box, that'd be untold 1000s of gun SKUs. If there is another factory rear wired option released I'd guess at maybe an AKX style monster with M-LOK up front (emphasis on the maybe). I don't know if there's some weird MP5-a-like in a Resident Evil game but..

That is (and always has been) the TM business plan in a nutshell right there, lol.

Of all the pictures of objects posted on here that could be misconstrued, this post is up in the rankings it must be said. Nice GL mate ?

Just a recent trend I think is interesting, I'd like to hear if others have twigged it/think the same. If I recall correctly, it was around 10-12 years ago when the KJW GBB M4 came out and that was the first gas-in-mag assault rifle style airsoft gun ever.. or at least in a long time/actually practical, affordable, available and quite reliable. Then very shortly after there was the Western Arms GBB M4s (plastic body?) and G&P WOCs, plus the WE 'closed bolt' system within very short order. Plus of course some budget priced clones of the above. Then it wasn't too long before the first GHK guns if I recall, but those first 3 were definitely all hot on each others' heels and all the 'softers were pitching tents and drawing battle lines on which system was like totally the bestest one. After a couple of years that hype very much died down. There was the WE open bolt AR, the KWA system sprung up and then died down alongside the WA and KJW systems also dying off in terms of popularity and availability. I'd say from roughly 2014-2021 (big ish) there was a lull. The MWS is obviously king now, but it didn't start that way, or at least it didn't seem like that to me? I don't know when it first released but it was definitely a few years back and you didn't see all that much support for it initially, but now it's possibly the most highly serviced platform in the game (aside the AR AEG) in terms of aftermarket parts, receivers, accessory sets etc with various base models from TM in production and a few chinese clones. Or if not in 2nd place then definitely up there and definitely enjoying way more popularity than any GBBR did for many years prior to 2022. I've not touched and MWS but presumably they work decently all year round else they wouldn't sell here in the UK, probably overall quite a bit more reliable than those old systems and once the word spread on that it really revamped interest in these types of RIFs. I have no actual dog in the fight or a point here in general, I really like all the main archetypes: some spring guns, AEGs, EBB/NGRS and GBBRs all for different reasons.. just not modern HPAs obviously ?

I suppose they have a fairly painful/powerful little 'danger zone' where if you catch every bb in one blast on your exposed skin/tight clothes within.. ~5-10m(?) then that's a fair bit of energy transfer, but I gotta say I barely ever see these things actually be used in games. That's 100% totally anecdotal of course, but I feel like they're rare sights at most sites and you'd have to be fairly unlucky to experience the aforementioned scenario. That said I think there's a fair few airsofters in the UK who probably have one local site to go along with their local pub and that's their stomping ground 2-4 times a month. Then if that site is one of the very few indoor game zones with tons of close shooting and then a few regulars get interested in TM 870s and also get their mates in to them... Either way, you can definitely pelt 5+ shots in to someone in a second or so with an AR AEG with nice internals using semi auto for sure, but I don't think I've ever personally been in a site brief where there was a hard and fast rule against quickly spamming AEG semi shots under 10m to try and win an engagement. Obviously one should stop once their opponent has their hand up, I've been on both the receiving end of over shooting up close and at least twice I can think of I've started pulling the trigger quickly and unfortunately put quite a few bbs in to someone 5m away before my brain's registered their hit call and made my finger stop moving.

And just to emphasise that point - not modified by much at all ? mostly just slapped a ranger plate and some tan paint on it (I won't make the obvious analogy just in case).

Issued Sharpshooter pouches very cheap on ebay and tough as old boots. Generally look at any '7.62' pouches you'll get a ton of results searching that, long as it's not for AK, should be good.

Not what I was saying at all, impressive leap though. It's a forum thread about slings, relax.

I used to like him in the early days when he talked about nylon gear, boots etc, but a lot of the videos in the past couple of years have been more like demolition ranch. Not a dig people can enjoy what they like, but it's not really for me anymore (mostly). That setup is actually mega common, certainly in a recent history context, but it's one of those things that's so basic that it's not 'cool' and doesn't get highlighted much; kinda taken as read type type info, even though it isn't. By far the best social media account I know of right now is this one (was a post there made me switch to said sling config) - https://www.instagram.com/redbeardtactical.de/ It's just not at all relevant 90% of the time if you're someone purely interested in playing skirmishes with bb guns.

This one should answer that (I think the answer is basically no, not much cheek protection). As I say, if the thought of getting your face low enough to look through a sight is affecting your choice of face pro I'd advise not letting it. There's loads of dead cheap pic rail risers out there to stack any optic as tall as you like, plus drop stocks like the G&G and up close you absolutely don't need to see through your sight (or even at range if your eyesight is good since every shot is a tracer).
