  1. The boy's L85 is poorly again. Every so often in semi it seems to have a stutter. Full auto is fine. Any thoughts on what causes it? Cheers. On a side note... I felt a proper Charlie this morning trying to work out why I couldn't get much more than 10 mags out of a battery on my new A3. Thinking it was the motor height adjustment due to the nasty noise from the gearbox, I spent ages adjusting the screw on the back of the butt..... Only to realise when I broke the gun in half to check the hop and barrel (because of the seemingly random direction the bb's are flying) that there's the real adjustment screw underneath. ???. FFS. So this outer one is at best a locking screw and at worst a dust cover. Everyday is a school day. At least now the gun sounds happy, and cycles on a 7.4v. Shame I'd get better results target shooting with a blunderbuss ?
  2. We're near Hitchin, but I'll check dates and see if we can match a trip to my dad's near Eastbourne with a game day before the boy goes in August (assuming you mean the site in Kent) ....or frankly once he's gone, I'll be able to do more or less what I want anyway LOL I suspect my inner child and adult wallet will see my buying it anyway ?.
  3. You are somewhat more svelte than I am ?
  4. I'm also 6'7" so the 130kg is kinda stretched upwards , so not quite as bad as old Jeff, but the risk is real. Going to have a look at @Duff Beer and @Tackle suggestions now while I wait for an interesting ebay auction to come to an end. Scroll forward 10 minutes That Bulle looks really good. Might go for this one https://www.flecktarn.co.uk/sdtav1nx.html as it will not look too daft with my mtp trousers and UBAC shirt. And I think the price is great with the pouches assuming the build quality is up there.
  5. Oops.... On the screen I was looking at, it looked like a small deer LOL
  6. For us fatbois, wearing a full MK4 plate armour is heavy going in this heat. Any recommendations for something that doesn't make you look like the Simpsons' Jeff Albertson trying to hold his Sodas, and a mean fighting machine wanting to hold a few mags and a BB supply. Preferably not belt mounted. Tah muchly in advance.
  7. Sorry to have missed you there today (we went to Combat Airsoft in Thetford). Will be there next week though with several guests. Thetford was an excellent day. The pine forest setting was awesome, as was the (relatively) Close Quarter section we used for the starting games. I went for a wide flanking manoeuvre with a group of lads to try and get behind the blue team and push for domination. This meant a trek through the chest high Ferns resulting in me vanishing down a deep pothole much to the amusement of my squad mates following up behind. We got trounced by the red team all day, but it was still enjoyable. My L85 definitely needs some tech attention as the 1100 mAh battery was used up withess than ten magazines, and the noise it makes sounds like it is labouring on something. Once again the Specna performed better than any of the other pews we brought, although the DE held it's own for the Extraction game. Lots of Gillie suits there with very accurate face shots made a few pushes frustrating Had a fun chat with some US servicemen on the next table too.
  8. My new boots were excellent today. Feet still in a lot of pain, but then, I weigh 130kg, have done 7 miles of running today wearing full plate carrier and 3 litre camelbak. Just got home and trying to muster the energy to cook dinner and finish the laundry.
  9. Isn't it nice when dinner comes to say hello?
  10. Leccy tape and a sharpie.
  11. Do yourself a favour and take the collar and brassards off in this weather. I have more or less the full kit too and it's too much for this time of year. Incase you need the manual: https://1drv.ms/b/s!AiqaVyI38h9UhPtgp1AiswtdpNPvvA
  12. We had a similar kind of organisation in the domestic heating world. In fact several. Was never more than an ego trip for the various founders and "committee members". Fuck all in the industry was changed for the better. In fact, the biggest steps in system design and efficiency came down to a few of us nerds figuring things out and proving to a few people with influence that it was worth pursuing.
  13. Or in other words - harking back to the other thread - "Don't be a genital" seems to cover most bases.
  14. Remember it's getting hot and humid over there now.
  15. The airsoft field shared a car park with the Rangers club?
  16. That's my Granddad, the one who refused promotions was an Uncle who had either severe ptsd or was Bipolar. We can't figure out what caused what. We don't have any pictures of him sadly. But I remember him being a bit of a unit despite his age. National archives... https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7386637
  17. Going to Combat Airsoft in Thetford this Saturday. Looking forward to it.

Have fun!  I will be up in the Lake District supporting my eldest lad, who is taking part in the Lakesman Triathlon for the second consecutive year.

  18. Got some more goodies from my dad this morning.... Service record of my Uncle, and some pics of my Granddad. Shows how bad record keeping could be as is says he was married to his sister LOL... Pathfinder Uncle was an oddball and refused promotions, so we don't have much to go on other than he got caught behind enemy lines before the battle of ARNHEM. The poor fecker was in the salt mines and scraping the inside of steam engine boilers as a POW. Granddad, I think, was an instructor in the Royal Engineers for WW1, and too old to fight in WW2 so he and my nan were ARP warderns together. Got a picture of them and of the bus depot coming later.
  19. Probably won't help you - my grandad, I think, was in basic training when the Boer War started. LOL Just waiting for my dad to send me some links and pictures.
  20. "Clone" is probably where you're going wrong. You need to source it from the UK. IF you get a NPT thread or something more bizarre then you're Donald Ducked. Personally I've never bothered refilling those bottles, but then all that stuff is tax deductible for me ?
  21. It comes with age apparently. Unlike maturity

  23. Glad you're both safe!!! Shall we start a motorbike appreciation thread to go alongside the Family History one? LOL Brother inherited this and doesn't ride bike's - said I could have it but SWMBO put the kibosh on it... He also had these: Had a very happy summer getting them "ready" for selling. Honda hadn't been run for nearly 15 years - started on the third try - once I remembered to turn the fecking fuel on. I stand to inherit an AJS 550 - as long as the old man rebuilds it before he goes.
  24. It's a shame that all the "bad guys" uniforms are invariably the best looking too.
