It's amazing the number of people who'll make light of him or stand up for him. (Yeah Trump, I'm looking at you first) My Quora feed is enough to make my blood boil tbh. I really ought to unsub from that troll-filled pile of cack. But there's usually some interesting or amusing factoid to be gleaned from the steaming mess it almost always turns into.

Unless we're all stumbling around a radioactive wasteland, in ten years time the history books will be divided like this * Russia - We won against the rebels and protected our people blah blah blah * Everyone else - Putin was c*nt and invaded an independent country Victors writing their own history books will be in a minority of one. And they'll be wrong.

Indeed, this occurred to me too. I've salved my conscience by deciding to both pew, and donate. Although like an absolute plankton, I managed to donate to the wrong Red Cross appeal (don't just google Red Cross Ukraine and click on the 'donate £20' link, like I did - that's for a UK appeal! Only realised once I'd finished) https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwif55ab2pr2AhVCsO0KHaS5CUIYABABGgJkZw&ae=2&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESWOD20PIflYLL7va-NGQ6E8IMX0a_NXg6ZK59fFJ1WFvIWNO5dUZvO0X1PMOLj2DWnqUmCfqjOo0vK1ct-E8XdJ3igTZnm12HEeYTQpNpnWxRe_Kxw1DN6QI&sig=AOD64_1323A7qVN1X4AASS-9W8Nk35M48A&ved=2ahUKEwiv4I2b2pr2AhXloFwKHZFJAtEQqyQoAHoECAIQBQ&adurl=https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwif55ab2pr2AhVCsO0KHaS5CUIYABABGgJkZw&ae=2&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESWOD20PIflYLL7va-NGQ6E8IMX0a_NXg6ZK59fFJ1WFvIWNO5dUZvO0X1PMOLj2DWnqUmCfqjOo0vK1ct-E8XdJ3igTZnm12HEeYTQpNpnWxRe_Kxw1DN6QI&sig=AOD64_1323A7qVN1X4AASS-9W8Nk35M48A&ved=2ahUKEwiv4I2b2pr2AhXloFwKHZFJAtEQqyQoAHoECAIQBQ&adurl=https://donate.redcross.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-crisis-appeal

I think it's right to show some sensitivity at this time. However, if the only kit I had was Russian, I'd still wear it. But I'd understand if I got some comments or looks - and be prepared to explain / have a thick skin about it. Unfortunately there's definitely a bad guy at the moment

Replaced the sling attachment on my F2000 with a couple of straps from this and all the securing sliders, plus a couple of metal D-rings, to make this ... which seems to be working pretty well. I originally had the d-rings at the top of the stock, but actually that made the sling get in the way when shouldering the gun, so I re-jigged it to the current position. Because of the extra webbing inserted into the buckles to support the d-rings, the sling slots in the stock don't seem to be under undue pressure, so I'm not afraid of the plastic struts breaking. And an added bonus is I don't need to use the hex bolt to keep the butt plate on now, so battery changes will be easier. For an added Brucie-bonus, it also looks a lot more like the BF4 setup (in spirit, at least)

Is it a Status updates or a Facebook post ?

My instinctive reaction is to make the joke of "Pics, or it didn't happen"... but perhaps I won't, just this once, just in case... -
Enjoy your new gnu You probably will need to replace the spring sooner rather than later but that *super* easy to do, and a spring costs a tenner. Apart from that I'd seriously say don't be tempted to 'upgrade' it, this gun shoots nicely and it seems (by all accounts so far) to be reliable, so have it and keep it as your Constant Friend rather than meddling and breaking it. So says a voice of experience ?

I'd say the OP shouldn't be allowed out of the house with an open wallet, without adult supervision. If he tried to 'run a business' he'd spend the rest of his life broke and a drain on taxpayer's money!

Thanks for the heads-up on that, hopefully the motor is ok! I did pull it apart tonight. The gearbox was jammed up. I re-assembled and everything seemed fine, except for a wobbly motor wire to the trigger. Like an idiot I wobbled it more (like a kid with a loose tooth) and the connection snapped. So I've disassembled again, fitted a spare connector. And then found the shimming was off. A couple of shims found on my desk had pinged out without me noticing. That's me for the night. So tomorrow I've got some soldering to do, and a shim job, and then I'll see if it kicks into life. I must admit now - I have no idea how all the bits for the fire selector switch fit back together. I hope there's a decent video out there! Oh, and that comment about me being able to put a V3 back together in 5 minutes? Call that 'pride before a fall'. For some reason this particular gearbox has had its own awkwardness that meant I spent more than a little time trying to get it back together. Which is why that broken connector was pretty damned annoying. The one definite forward step is I've rubbed down and re-painted the bright green bits with my Halfords green camo, should look nice with the dark grey receiver when it's all back together -

Cheers I don't have 3 hands either, and my first attempt to put a gearbox back together (thanks to a particularly awkward trigger spring on the F2000) took 7 hours. Now I can do it in 5 minutes thanks to the jig I built (now improved with extra bolts to hold an allen key in the spring guide, and a dowel rod to hold back the nozzle + tappet plate, as that was pushing the shims off the top of the sector gear) -

Unexpected gnu in bagging area... This really was unexpected... I drive past Action Hobbies a couple of times a week, so keep up to date with their Clearance and Bone Yard specials... saw this yesterday, made an offer on it, and now it's mine... It's a dead JG S-552, normally retails ~£160, I got it for £50. Why buy a perfectly good gun and break it, when you can buy a broken one and break it some more! I've not had a chance to take it apart, but it's a V3 gearbox (my 'speciality') Thanks to all my recent tinkering I've got a spare motor and two (count 'em - thanks @Adolf Hamster) trigger units (which is what Paul at AH thought is the problem), so I think I've got a fair chance of fixing it. If I can, I'll have a tidy little back up gun. Picked up a decently large padded gun bag for a tenner too. -
F2000 craps out again... Angle Of Engagement?
RostokMcSpoons replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Electric Guns
I'll see if I can record some video or put some rounds on paper tomorrow... But at 15m some of the shots were missing a target that's about 9" wide. Quite a few were smacking into the middle, but it's feeling less accurate than the DE with its shorter barrel. It was of course a windy day, maybe it was gusting and I just didn't notice In unrelated news, unexpected gnu in bagging area, more fun and frolics to come! (Apologies in advance) -

Somewhat good news in that iWholeSales (which provide guns on-order to SpecOps, and I think a few other skirmish sites) actually have a few different DE guns in stock right now. The only issue is I don't know what their prices are, only account holders get to see them, but have ordered these by price. The 'pro' sniper rifle gives us a clue on the upper limit (~£250), but let's hope they're not anywhere near that level now. -
F2000 craps out again... Angle Of Engagement?

Did some test firing on Friday that didn't go brilliantly well, with some failures to feed that I thought might be due to the weird positioning of the nozzle between shots, but I've just screwed the back plate in hard (ooooo-eeerrr Missus, yub-yub, wibble ker-snip) and fired a couple of hundred BB's through it down the garden. Without any jams or problems. Shot dispersion side-to-side was a bit more random than I'd like, but as this gun is now officially my Spray'N'Pray Nearly-Wanker-RoF Beast, then I think accuracy can be sorted at a future date (and after a future pay cheque). I just hope I can actually have it run solidly for at least half a day before I do anything else to it! -
My nearest site (SpecOps) has a fairly limited site in terms of structures (most of them are represented with just sheets of tarpaulin hanging on lines, or tents - I hate to think what the storm has done to it), and now we're in the middle of winter there's quite a lack of vegetation as cover. The games tend to be simple rolling defences, or bomb plant / defense, or rescue a dummy... so even the young kids can have a clue what's going on. But it's pretty much always good fun, just because the owner and the marshals work together, and try to keep it light and without too much emphasis on being 'competitive'. So we do get pre-game briefings, and hear who has won at the end. Static teams get a gentle cajoling to push on (almost all games having infinite respawns that aren't too far to trek back to helps). Good team efforts or solo runs get mentions in the couple of minutes post-match, and the whole thing rounds off with a "thanks for coming, hope you all enjoyed it" that feels like it comes from the owner's heart. Or perhaps from his bank manager Decent bit of nosh for lunch included too. There are things I could critique, but by the sounds of it I'm pretty lucky with my local site. Player numbers are 40-70 and the playing areas kept reasonably tight so at least one of the small number of marshals are always in line of sight. So to the OP - stick with it, hopefully you'll find something reasonably close by, don't disregard a site just because it doesn't 'look cool' as it sounds like the quality of the people running the place is the most important thing

I got one (The EPS that is. And a Titan 11.1v 3000mAH nunchuck for it and the F2000.

Yeah that's really nice. I like everything about my M906C, short of the small battery space (the circular tube only good enough for ~170mm long and 20mm diameter batteries), and the fact the spring was made out of chicken wire, so I'm an easy sale for another DE gun. I really like the look of this, and I'm glad to hear it's impressive so far... I too am concerned about the mags though. Being logical I really need to stick to STANAG types as that's what I've already got, and my belt rig is set up for them too... so if I get a second DE it might well be one of these instead: https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/double-eagle-m916g-utr556?pv=17877

F2000 craps out again... Angle Of Engagement?
RostokMcSpoons replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Electric Guns
Cheers, looks like that was a good shout. One of the signal wires was in contact with the shell, the other one was close. I've bent the front one away from the shell, and it seems to be behaving itself again :phew: -

I've just put the gearbox back together a couple of times today to check the shimming and I've just had some weirdness. It occasionally decides to fire on its own I've noticed that the nozzle is partly retracted, so it's partly pre-cocked. Pushing back on the nozzle or bumping the gearbox occasionally gets it a fire a shot, or even a short burst, which is a tad disconcerting! It doesn't always pre-cock. And before this last re-assembly it was behaving itself (as far as I can tell, though I wasn't paying attention to the nozzle position) so what could I have got wrong? The last change involved moving a shim on the sector gear from the top to the bottom half, which seemed to help the trigger movement (it had seemed to stick slightly before), and also moving the front trigger contact as it was getting snagged on the tappet spring. So trigger / tappet / nozzle were all feeling nice and smooth. Before that I also smoothed off the main tooth on the piston, and filed down the second to a half height, but I'd test fired with that and hadn't seen the self-firing. Has the Merf's active breaking gone doolally? I don't think I can turn that off. Could the interaction of my shim on the COL's cam be interacting with the shim of the sector gear to make the sear action super-sensitive? -
Isn't this the worst gun to use as a DMR base? It's designed to be high rate of fire, cqb and you're converting it to to long range single shot. And it's a TM so would be better left at 270 fps, as designed. Sell it on and get a long barreled AR...

I'm using Nuprol low pressure and also Abbey predator. My hi capa runs great on both, can fire as fast as I like without cool down effects So it sounds faulty, do as Aengus said and send it back

Hmmm... Gate says "Warning! GATE does not guarantee the compatibility of mosfets and ETUs such as TITAN or ASTER with brushless motors. Connection of a brushless motor can cause immediate damage to the device, motor and battery, that is not covered by the warranty and can lead to a fire."
