  1. Be aware that they take an absolute eternity to arrive, two months later I'm still waiting for mine, they have to wait until AW ship them to them first as a special order. Just like the AAP-01 hammer it's only a matter of time until the AW drum mag clockwork spring goes if you use it heavily (I repaired mine but it's never felt the same since).
  2. My M904E has just only had a Maple Leaf Macaron 60 Degree swapped out with the stock bucking, and it hops the 0.25's I use fine (the motor did give off that "new" electrical smell until it had been used a few times). If you bought the one from Patrol Base it's practically spot out of the box getting 340 FPS +/- one or two on 0.20's, so if you have a 350 FPS AEG limit at your favourite site there's little to do other than the bucking for better grouping / possible hopping heaving BB's (you could easily hop 0.28's with a Macaron for some more range but will lose some speed).
  3. For me a Maple Leaf Autobot 60 Degree 2021 Silicone, just that on its own, radically changed the accuracy / grouping. Previously shown veered slight to the left and grouping was OK'ish, post the Maple Leaf swap shots were dead center and 20m or so grouping was infinitely better. The stock hop unit is great, I saw no need to replace it.
  4. The externals of them depend upon the model you buy, some are an alloy and some are polymer, e.g. the M904E and M907E are identical internally and look identical as well but the M907E has an alloy handguard and receiver. Everything I know about them implies that they're quite reliable, however there are not many of them out there so it's not a certainty (but I'm fine if one day mine fails as I know it's bog standard internals and I can just swpa parts out). If you look online there's nothing that confirms this either way, and some have made assumptions based upon the use of the word "Eagle". All I know is that Double Eagle are a Chinese toy manufacturer, it appears that they make RC cars / toys primarily, and they imply that they have their own facilities for manufacturing (moulding plastics etc.). I'm just making assumptions but I've a feeling that their guns are a bit of a mongrel with some parts being theirs, some being other OEM's, and they assemble them themselves? Edit: If anyone's interested they, DE, list part of their address as "Fujian Qing An Precision Machinery" in China, and this factory has made shipments to both Umarex and Crossman so I'm assuming that this factory manufactures for them. This factory also used to own the trademark "QAP" who sold airsoft products, who's logo was two eagles (hmm, double eagles eh). This has sent me off down a rabbit hole so I think it best I just outright ask Double Eagle if they manufacture themselves or use an OEM. Edit 2: If you go to DE's website... http://www.deairsoft.com/ ... they actually have the "QAP" logo in the top left corner of it so they are one and the same. I've now directly asked them about their manufacturing as one way or another I now have to know. Edit 3: I really must stop this and get back to work, reading their website properly (rather than making assumptions) they say... ... so it looks like they may well make the ASG Scorpion Evo 😲
  5. A recent video that you may find useful (with potential naughty words as it is "you know who")... https://youtu.be/0CDqyk2vUiw ... which does help in knowing any brands to steer clear of.
  6. This is admittedly a little biased from me but how about... https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/double-eagle-m904e-fire-control-system-edition?pv=15411 ... which for the price I'm totally blown away by and love using. Plus points... # Programmable (to a small degree) optical MOSFET included, you can setup a hair trigger and the three shot / burst auto is good as well. # The gearbox shell has been radiused so will last a little longer. # It has a quick change spring.
  7. With an AEG I'd be thinking about asking, as your image doesn't show it, if they also possibly changed the cylinder / improved the volume of air to support that very long inner barrel.
  8. I bought a couple of Delta Mike Face Pro Snoods for myself and my son, we've been using the big clunky Nuprol Mesh Lower Face Shield V3's as I'm a bit paranoid about protecting our face and ears, and last night I properly tried mine out and it's a revelation. With the Nuprol ones being so big and clunky when I looked directly down I saw almost nothing as they obscure my vision, going down the stairs at Z-Mart in Newbury is more luck than skill and I couldn't properly look at my chest rig either. Now I can see so clearly when looking down, and it feels like my breath isn't now being directed upwards into my goggles. I'm just worried now about getting hit on the nose and ending up looking like a drunken Irish stereotype.
  9. Going by your threads subject, "Form or Function", for me it's the exact phrase "Form Follows Function". I really don't care how I look in the eye's of others as long as I'm enjoying myself, feel comfortable, and at least get a few kills so that's my "function" and I'll take whatever "form" provides that. The financial problem is that there's a minimum you need to spend to achieve this. I'm not a trained soldier, we're not operating in Helmand, so I don't need to spend thousands on mock realism (I'd run around with a big pink dildo with a trigger if it fired accurately to 60m, got me lots of hits and was dirt cheap).
  10. @mightyjebus How you getting on with your M908B? (in your photo though it looks a lot more like an M904F with the smaller stock and longer barrel). I fancy a DMR as well now, based on an M908A so that I have a longer inner barrel + a single selector on the left hand side (I keep accidentally nudging the ambi one on my M904E when swapping from a right to left hand) + metal receiver (and I'd swap out the bucking and spring, and possibly the cylinder and piston).
  11. I personally get a little triggered by the amount of money that people spend on the AAP-01, as like you said it's almost close to the best it could ever be straight out of the box. Unless you live somewhere where the ambient temp stays at the same all year round, our you use it with HPA, why spend hundreds and hundreds on something that could be a compromise 6 months of the year (I just don't understand those who spend hundreds modding it to a DMR when a AEG DMR would always be cheaper and better).
  12. Today (south of England), drank at least 3 liters of water (with one of the2 liters bottles being frozen), went home at 1 pm as it was just too hot, and still got a stonking headache 😔

    Aap-01

Full auto on it puts a big smile on your face 😁 (however, it churns through gas and BB's on a standard or extended mag as it's so quick, a drum mag is an option but then as you can dump so much so quickly you end up badly icing up the gun and its internals)

    Aap-01

The standard part is not a separately available item, and for a while www.airsoftworld.net had various AAP-01 parts for sale from disassembled ones but I never saw the selector part. An after-market one may be an option, for example... https://www.airsoftworld.net/imperial-custom-precision-action-army-aap-01-qfs-quick-fire-selector.html ... but I've no idea what of the original mechanism it still requires. Personally I find it intriguing that someone chose to swap in a 3D printed part to lock it to semi, why would you do that if you use it just as a pistol, so maybe at some point they upgraded it to act as a DMR and never fully changed it back?

    Aap-01

Then that's not a genuine UK market AAP-01 and meant for a country like Germany. Unless the business that sold it to you was outside of the UK, or the business explicitly said it was both semi and auto, I'd get a refund from them and send it back.
  16. The words "good" and "AEP" are pretty much mutually exclusive. My son has a CYMA AEP, can't remember the exact model but it was not cheap (way more than £50) as it has a MOSFET and was one of the "better ones", however it's hideous compared to a gas pistol. The trigger response is glacial, slow to the point where you'd never shot first in a one on one, and it chrono's at around 220 FPS on 0.20's. It's just gathering dust now as he has a WE G17 Gen 4 and an AAP-01 and is happy with gas. I've seen videos of the Tokyo Marui G18C AEP which appear to show it having a much better trigger response than my son's CYMA, to the point where it appears to be a genuine option, but it would be a bit risky taking a punt without being 100% certain. Edit: Also the CYMA pistol is using a LiPo battery. Edit 2: It's this one... https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/cyma-cm-122s-mosfet-edition?pv=11461
  17. Can I ask what you're expecting to gain from it? (better accuracy, higher FPS etc.). For the money the M90X range is stonking value, and I quite fancy one day getting a longer barrelled one to create a DMR, but I've a feeling the gearbox shell won't be anywhere near strong enough to cope with the stresses and would need to be replaced.
  18. I agree, it's the prerogative of the site you attend at, they set the rules not the customer. It's very easy with a good gun on semi and a drum mag to lay down a biblical hail of BB's to the point where no one could ever push past them without a dangerous over-arm thrown grenade / thunderflash or just pure luck. To be honest it can be fun to be "that person", however it makes the game for others pretty shitty.
  19. Personally I'd just go with the E10 carbine and know I have the known buffer tube space / can swap stocks, as with the stock right in it has the same reported collapsed length as the PDW.
  20. Bloody hell, I've got both and this is a £90 pistol and a £25 holster brand new (you may even be able to pick both up for less), what planet are they on?
  21. I've given up on my AW drum mag until I've the cash to HPA tap it as well and get a small tank etc., the gun and mag just get so cold when used heavily that output valve just keeps craping out on me and other problems keep happening
  22. There's nothing wrong with William Shatner "singing" Rocketman, he knocked it out of the park with his sophisticated cigarette smoking style.
  23. Somewhat related I received a parcel yesterday from POWAIR6 in France via DHL, only place with a L/XL sized FMA helmet (and I bought a few other items but no RIF's), that the Border Force inspected / opened and put their tape all over. It arrived two a half working days after placing the order, and passed from Luton to Heathrow for the inspection, so I'm making assumptions that when labelled correctly and going through a trusted courier things "should" go reasonably well (all of these shitty problems do seem to be happening with less than competent suppliers and couriers).
  24. @CamouflageAirsoft A few days ago I submitted a booking form for the Alton site for four players, however I've yet to have a response from you, and just now when I attempted to use your contact form I received a website 404 error when submitting it. Is a long turnaround on bookings to be expected?
  25. Well, I've only had it for one evening (post England beating Germany), and I'm very happy with the M904E as it's so much gun for the money. I paid £170 for it and I suppose the closest AEG I've held / used that's a direct price comparison is the G&G CM16 FFR A2 which costs £165 and has an electronic trigger and standard MOSFET, but that piddly £5 difference gets you a programmable MOSFET + slightly higher FPS out of the box + higher RPS + quick change spring (my son's G&G Firehawk feels terrible in comparison, I think I know what he'll be asking Santa for). I bought Nuprol 1300 mah 11.1v 20c LiPo's to go with it, and in semi spamming the trigger I can't come anywhere close to outracing the gun which put a big smile on my face. No problem with the PTS EPM 1 mags either. I did a quick chrono on 0.25's and got around 295 FPS / 1.03 J, so I suppose around 330 FPS on 0.20's so not bad out of the box. I've a Maple Leaf Macaron 60 degree ready to swap in, I'm not expecting any FPS improvement from it but better grouping, so next pay day will be time to play around with springs (although the buffer tube seems to provide slightly worse access to it than the PDW stock from photo's, in that there's less light getting into the tube to see what you're doing) and maybe think about a slightly tighter inner barrel / better hop-up unit. Something worth noting is that the cover for the quick change spring protrudes a little into the buffer tube so a long battery does stick out. Also I wish the buffer tube had a sling plate on it like most other M4's, a very small thing I suppose, but it makes the gun hang lower on my sling than I'd like it to. Edit 1: Had more time to fart around with it now on a fully charged 11.1v LiPo and with the Maple Leaf 60 degree in it. Getting around 308 FPS / 1.08 J on 0.25's now and way tighter grouping.
