  1. Loads of good advice above which you should definitely consider. The cleaning and use of silicon oil/isopropyl/gun oil etc is not a one-size-fits-all. Different folk have different methods for different guns. Personally I use isopropyl to pull the barrel through, with one wet then two dry passes with a small flannelette, but experiment. Just make sure if you do use silicon oil that you're removing what you can after cleaning. One thing that is pretty consistent though, is always use the heaviest BBs your hop can lift, and buy a quality brand. Just doing this will show an improvement.
  2. Yes, it's annoying, borderline cheaty and guaranteed to get people mad at you. Yes, call all your hits. Most sites I play at have the rule that blue on blue is a hit for both parties. No, ricochets are not direct hits. Caveat, as others have said, if in doubt, take the hit. Knife kills? You play airsoft to shoot people and be shot, not creepily tap your rubber Rambo knife on someone. Don't be weird; use your gun 😂 If you do want melee kills though, just my opinion, use something slightly realistic, not a cuddly toy, a rubber chicken or your mum's dildo. Other unwritten rules. Help other players out, whether they're rentals who haven't been shown how to adjust the hop up, or experienced players having snags. We talk about the airsoft community, so do your part. Never rub another man's rhubarb by picking up someone's gun or other equipment without asking. Truth is, we're all show offs and want you to see our toys, so ask and you'll generally get a positive response. Also, don't be afraid to share equipment if it gets the job done. I'm not a gung-ho banzai charger, but if someone is, here, take my pistol as well. Also, everyone goes to play their own type of game. "Push up!", "Be aggressive!" and "Fire and move!" are the airsoft equivalent of "Pass it!" and "Shoot!" in football. We get it. Calling out targets is much more helpful.
  3. My son and I tried Bravo Romeo for the first time a couple of weeks back. Had a cracking day. The site was well run, the terrain varied, decent gameplay and really sensible respawn rules. I have to say that, with the exception of one turbo bellend who accused me of non-hit taking, when he was shooting with all the accuracy of Michael J Fox on a rollercoaster, the other players were friendly, honest and all there to have fun. No aggro at all, standfast Marty McFuck and his no-miss BBs. Went full tigerstripe for the first time, as I usually mix and match, but was pleasantly surprised how effective it was, especially in the ferns. First run out for the Platatac Peacekeeper 5 chest rig too and it was great.
  4. I much prefer this particular thread when people talk about how their airsoft day went, you know? Let's me make an informed choice about where to try next. Gunman sounds a safe bet. However, I do get an immense amount of joy from seeing the brethren round on the ill-informed ramblings of an HPA-obsessed bed wetter, countering with logic and hard facts. And @Dan Robinsonget yourself a Delta Mike! Still stings if you take a shot to the grid (won't break the skin unless it's HPA though 🤥) but it beats leaving you with a smile like a witch doctor's necklace.
  5. As someone who lives just over a mile from Ground Zero, I can heartily recommend other sites. Camouflage a few miles down the road have monthly woodland airsoft games, and, if CQB and darkness is your thing, The Bunker just outside of Pompey
  6. @Impulse I found Powair6 to be pretty good for Magpul prices, but if you know somewhere else, let me know. Oh, and OD is a great choice 👌
  7. I went the Magpul route with a CTR stock and cheek rise, trigger guard, MOE+ grip and VFG. The grip is awesome and really comfortable, so a strong recommend. Next build for me is MOE SL stock and K2+ grip, and probably a Magpul handsome rather than foregrip. Magpul stuff is lovely, but BCM are turning my head too. Maybhave to check the Hogue grip out now too!
  8. Pretty sure you know what you want, and the brands you want to use, but I can highly recommend HAO for RS clone rails, barrels etc for MWS 🤌
  9. Looking forward to heading a bit further afield to try new sites. Now that my boy has taken up the hobby, social and sporting calendar permitting, it's a great opportunity for father and son road trips. Be great to meet some of you fine folks too. Also looking forward to making another MWS build at some point.
  10. Can't comment on those particular models, but I picked one of these up for my lad at the end of last year: https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/specna-arms-rock-river-arms-sa-e03-edge-carbine Have to say, for the price I was pretty impressed. It's been absolutely fine so far, has decent FPS (around 310-315 on .2s) and slings .25gs out to a decent distance. It doesn't seem too fussy on mags, isn't too heavy and was a decent buy. The build quality is ok, but things do rattle a little bit, but it's a budget gun and would make a great starter gun. I'd also look at Cyma as well. The two AKs I have are really good, very solid and were both under £200. Their M4s are also getting decent reviews, so maybe another option to consider?
  11. Cheers mate. Think I've seen the C&C on JK Army's website. With you on AG products, hence my hesitation.
  12. Anyone have any recommendations for an Airborne-style charging handle? The only one I regularly see available is the Angry Gun one.
  13. Glad you had a good time pal. Only sorry that we couldn't be there yesterday. Next time.
  14. I have a Cyma 042 and 045A, both of which are absolutely solid, have steel and wood construction, easy to find mags for and perform beautifully straight out of the box. They're both around the £200 mark and are where I'd be looking if I were you.
  15. I'm not familiar with the VFC gas mags, but MWS mags are similar when new. Speedloader with a pistol adapter works, or the TM XL loader that has the adapter attached. Or if you have an Odin, look to see if Airtac have a VFC adapter?
  16. Simple answer is run as close to stock as you can, then replace if something (or in the case of the nozzle spring, when) breaks. Always worth keeping a few spares around; nozzles, nozzle spring, hop rubbers and mag lips are in my spares box. There may be other things but those or the most common I think. I've also got the Dynamic Precison nozzle springs, as well as a couple of TM and a couple of BavTac ones. Had one go on me but replaced with another stock spring and has been going strong for more than a year.
  17. Looks awesome pal. Perfectly timed for GBBR season too 👌
  18. The pinging sound is the buffer spring, and is normal. You can put a buffer spacer in to reduce this. The gap between upper and lower is, again normal. Nothing to worry about.
  19. Rather than a PC, look at the slick body armour types. They're pretty rigid and you can definitely hear the ping of a hit. Chest and back hits are standard though. Hits to the inner thigh, love handles (he won't have those) neck and ears are, in my experience, the ones that get me creatively swearing the most.
  20. Some kind of body armour isn't a bad idea, and protective gloves are a must. Finger shots really sting! Look at some of the 8 Fields stuff on Patrol Base. Absolutely fine for your boy
