Yeah, it's definitely a future purchase...as is a tan PTS enhanced 😬 Bunch of fucking enablers on this forum!

Tempted with the Titan Li-Ion batteries

Don't man! I've bought so much stuff in the last month and am a couple of clicks away from getting one 😆 Do like the idea of tan stock, foregrip and magazines though. Time to grab a can of khaki paint!

Yes, had the lipo mod done to mine and runs really well on 7.4s. Don't go 11.1! Heard some absolute horror stories. I'm currently in the process of fucking the mini Tamiya off for Deans as I've brought a PTS EPS stock (only wish I'd got it in tan) which is cool af, but I need to break out the soldering iron. The Cyma AK will be the guinea pig before I touch the TM 😂

I had about three games with my 416 last year, running .25s and it was fine. Really accurate too. Like you I do want to move to heavier BBs, maybe up to .32s but, after hearing from the guys on here who are far more experienced with the NGRS platform than I am, I'm not going to rush in. If I still feel like tinkering, I'll maybe look at the hop rubber and possibly barrel. It was good to be reminded of why I bought a TM in the first place, and why would I pay extra to alter or replace all the stuff that makes them so good in the first place?

Literally asked the same thing last week https://airsoft-forums.uk/topic/51304-tm-ngrs-to-upgrade-or-not/ Decided that, apart from switching the Tamiya to Deans, I'm going to leave everything alone at this point.

The WAS poly mags are standard 3 MOLLE rows high. If you're after them in Coyote let me know -

I recently got the PLB belt in Coyote to go with a new loadout. Had an OD one before and really liked it. The belts are comfortable with loads of MOLLE space. My only niggles with them are that the buckle strap could be thicker and the buckle itself is unnecessarily fiddly. I picked up the shooters belt pack and, even though I'm not a fan of the mag pouches, it's great value. -

Annoyingly it doesn't seem like they're available from the same seller I used. You could always contact them through eBay to see if they still stock them https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/realairsoftuk If not, this looks similar, if not identical, standfast the extras I got like the ScopeCoat and batteries etc: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Holographic-Red-Dot-style-XPS3-558-Airsoft-Scope-Sight-G43-Magnifier-/294056673191?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 -
Good enough for me then! Heat shrink sorted, soldering iron and accessories sorted and connectors ordered. Bit of pissing about first off to get my hand in (cheers YouTube and memories from my design tech class from 30 years ago!) then I'll go for it.

Ordered some from a RC guy on eBay. may only be 100mm but good enough for a practice run. May just order the connectors and wire separately and do the whole lot from scratch. Is 16AWG wire correct?

I get that feeling and I absolutely have no problem with anyone giving their RIF the "Trigger's broom" treatment. However people spend their money is up to them. If they get enjoyment from it, crack on. I always come back to that; it has to be fun and enjoyable. And I was there for your last "you do you" comment 😆 When I got my M14 upgraded I knew exactly what I wanted; revert it back from the DMR conversion cluster that had happened, replace the Fisher Price-sized Tamiya to Deans and fit a MOSFET (Warfet). It's now incredible. With my TM though, I'm overthinking it, and trying to fix something that doesn't need it. Honestly, if the TM 416s were wired like any normal M4-style AEG, I'd have swapped the stock over and been happy 😂

No wrench slung in these works pal! I think you're bang on with the want to, rather than need to. After a solid couple of hours debating this and some solid Google and YouTubing, I've decided to leave the gun alone for now...but not quite. I still want that PTS stock on there and a Deans, so I'll order a few pairs of already-wired Deans connectors, some heat shrink tubing and set to with the soldering iron. As I haven't soldered anything since school though, I'll ease into this by converting one of my other guns first. When we get back on the field I'll run with .28s and see how I get on. Anyone got any recommendations for suppliers of connectors or will any airsoft/RC supplier do? And most pre-wired connectors that I've seen come with approx 100mm of wire. Would that be enough for an extending stock on a 416? Probably a gash question but I'd rather get it right and only have to do it once. I subscribe to the same theory about changing things. I don't understand someone paying £600 for a "top of the line" gun, then spending as much again replacing everything that makes it expensive in the first place, sometimes without even using it.

100%. I've read a comment you made before about keeping your TM's stock, which is adding to me being reluctant to anything. I think a lot of this is a boredom factor kicking in as we're not able to play again yet. I kind of feel like I need to be doing something to it. I do have a Tamiya connector that will be getting swapped for Deans and the SOPMOD is going to be exchanged for my PTS EPS, so I'll sort the wiring out and go from there.

Thanks to all who have contributed. I'm most definitely leaning towards the none evasive options. Barrel and hop seems simplest. I'm really hesitant to interfere with anything more because I am happy as it is. Think I'll check out Eagle 6 for the parts and go from there. Again, appreciate your input.

One of the upgrade options I looked at included an M95 spring, modifying the piston and fitting an s-hop with custom hop arm and nub. Not sure though. I should add that I'm not confident carrying out any work myself. Maybe I'll use the Cyma AK as a training platform before cracking this one open, lol

I have a completely stock TM NGRS, and use .25 BBs which the gun hops fairly well. I have no idea what the FPS is - probably around 260-270 I would imagine, and the gun is accurate to about 40-45m. So why, having said that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the gun as is, am I contemplating upgrading it? The whole reason I bought a TM was their (deserved) reputation of performance and reliability out of the box, but I would like to squeeze more range out if it. My thinking is that heavier BBs, .30 or .32s would help, however, with TMs being manufactured to comply with Japan's lower FPS limits, it would need upgrading to lift the heavier BBs, right, and I'm a little hesitant to do that. So my question is as simple as the title suggests; should I take my stock gun that I am pretty happy with, and risk ruining everything that makes a TM as good as they are by changing a few bits and bobs to squeeze another 10-15m out of it? I'd be really interested to hear both sides. Thanks.

I recently picked up these from Real Airsoft UK on eBay: For clones they're pretty good. Only issue i have is, to get the correct eye relief on the G43 I've had to remove the rear iron sight. the G33 may have been a better option for me. Package had the 558, G43, batteries, Scopecoat, EoTech stickers and a really solid storage box. -
Something like this? https://www.hueys.co.uk/OPS-Air-Frame-Helmet-Cover-Multicam

Shout? I'll be dropping it on your doorstep!

I don't but I can lay my hands on one. Cheers buddy. I was looking for the end result on YouTube instead of the source of the issue! This is why it's always good to get somebody else's opinion 👍
-
Sorry, pal, I should have explained the issue with another phot. I thought unscrewing this little cap would free the wiring but it's heat shrunk to the opening. The wire isn't a continuous run to the buffer tube, it's in two pieces, with the connectors on the buffer tube joining this somehow. Clear as mud again, right?

After enviously seeing a post showing someone's nice, new PTS EPS stock, I'm now sat here two days later with my own glorious chunk of polymer ready to fit it onto my TM 416 NGRS. However I have the DEVGRU model, so this doesn't seem simple to me. As lots of you will know , the DEVGRU model was designed to take TM's proprietary batteries. Fuck that, so I had the offered lipo conversion made when I bought the gun. My gun was fitted out to accept lipos with a small Tamiya connector and all has been fantastic. Now however, when it comes to changing to my new stock, it isn't just a case of slipping the old stock off, sliding the PTS one on and making sure I thread the battery wires through like a normal gun. Instead I have to deal with this: Bearing in mind I do want to change up to a Deans connector on this at some point, do I: A) take advice from you guys and tackle it myself according to said advice, or B) take it to the guys who sold me the gun and ask them to do the Deans conversion, and in such a way that I can change the stock to whichever one I choose like a normal gun? Any help appreciated.
