The 'What have you just bought' Thread
C-Diddy replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Going to be taking my son to his first game very soon, so rather than giving him a GBBR to use (not a great first skirmish choice) or my 416 which weighs a stack (and is also very expensive!) I used airsoft logic to treat him/myself to a new AEG; a Cyma AKS-74U. Looks and feels great, heavier than I thought though, but reviews are very good and should see him proud. The four mid-caps are more for me when I inevitably use it 😳 -

Don't know if you've ordered a CTR already but Powair6 are well worth checking out for Magpul stuff. Having said that, you may need to bump the order up to avoid excess charges, and HMRC looked liked they'd fucked the packaging prison-style when mine was delivered, but everything was fine. Good service too. You going FDE for the stock? How you finding the trigger guard? -

Yep, Magpul CTR fits well. Brownells good as mentioned. Powair6 also decent for Magpul -

You lost me at 'restrain myself.' 😂 The EPS stock is great for battery space but I do like a CTR. I have one on my MWS. If you're going to run one on an AEG, I think you need to remove some material from the rubber pad to allow battery storage, so may be worth getting the thicker .70 butt pad. -

Not sure about the sling plate on the stock tube being a weak point, but my sling goes from QD point on the replacement PTS EPS stock to a BFG sling mount on the rail. Solid as dicks mate 👌 -

Love my TM Devgru and stock they're still awesome. I also run the PTS mags and never really thought about how long they were 😳 I normally use Esstac mid-length pouches for them, but also have a TMC Spiritus clone chest rig, and they fit in that just fine. One thing to think about spending a bit extra on is a decent sling; Blue Force VCAS, Ferro Slingster, Magpul etc. Don't trust keeping your £600 RIF safe on a £5 sling -

Agreed. Paul helped me a couple of years ago when I wanted to source a traditional, bog standard, no frills Cyma AK47. He came through when everyone else was out of stock and was really helpful. I think I said before that I agree about the original grip. So uncomfortable. I found changing the trigger guard helped a lot too. Magpul ones are only a few quid and fit nicely, provided you remove a bit of material from them. -
No, the light and PEQ are Element clones. Waiting on a Surefire M600 clone to replace it. Much as I like real steel, some things I can't justify, sadly. The stock, riser, grip, trigger guard and vertical grip are all Magpul, PTS Radian charging handle, HAO Industries Geissele clone scope mount and SMR rail, Vortex Crossfire II 1-4x24 scope, with Angry Gun flash hider and can. Sopmod stocks are nice. I also like the Magpul MOE range. Whatever you decide, post pics!

As @rocketdogbertsaid, what exactly has 'gone'? Dont go overboard looking to replace the upper if it's something as simple as replacing a spring.
-
New scope and mount ready to go... ...and installed. Just waiting on a new Surefire M600 clone to replace the light, then I'll be done with this one. Then to tweak the MK18 build 🤔🤣

Time to rotate the optics. The Vortex Crossfire red dot is moving from the MWS to the MP7, and will be replaced by this; Vortex Crossfire II 1-4x24 scope, which will sit in the HAO Industries Geissele clone mount. Have to say the mount, like their rails, is really high quality. Looking forward to switching these up this evening. -
Stock setup should lift up to .28s. I primarily run .3s at the moment, but have some ASG .32 Open Blasters to try. I know many people on here run heavier ammo in their guns so have a play around once you get your SixG nub. If you haven't already (I suspect you have though) check out Ollie Talks Airsoft on YouTube. Loads of decent MWS content.

That's good news buddy. What ammo you running in it?
-
Is it worth giving the retailer a shout?

I completely understand not wanting to send it back. As long as the sight picture isn't affected by it, it's liveable. Looks decent on the URG-I 👌
-
Agreed @rocketdogbert That'd be pretty much all I'd notice about it. Having said that, it does seem a decent package, especially with the mount and case. Make sure you post a phot when it's in place on you 416. I wanted a similar build but have kept the 416 more Jason Hayes, and the scope I've ordered will go on my MWS.

Not sure about the Ace 1 Arms replacements I'm afraid. I would recommend getting a stock alert set for the TM lips on Impulse101 although they have suspended shipping to the UK and Europe at the moment.

Don't underestimate the need for good socks too. Go natural fibre.

Although I'm not much of a run-and-gun-type of player (more plod-and-pew) I've had the odd moment where I've had to get a shift on, and the Esstacs have been brilliant. They aren't cheap but weighed against the cost of replacing lost mags and I can justify it. The Safariland clone (6354DO) retains the pistol by the ejection port and releases with a thumb lever. You can adjust the tension and I have to say it's very smooth and instinctive to draw. You do need a weapon light on this model though otherwise it won't retain as well, if at all. -

I moved to Esstac Kywi pouches for my MWS mags. Awesome in all respects so I got a pistol pouch for the Glock and that's mustard too. Recently bought a C2R rifle nugget for my belt, which is very good too, although I prefer the height of the Esstacs (I have the mid-length) but that's maybe because I'm paranoid about losing a £50 mag! I bought the TMC Safariland clone and find that retains my Glock really well. May not be ideal for your style of play though. -
Ah, cool. I know some people can adjust it through the ejection port, but I have to break the gun to do it. The GHK system seems far more accessible.

The hop adjustment is a pain in the arse to adjust on these. I always use a small allen key just to get some extra purchase on the wheel
