  1. Are we going to compile these and make an AFUK cover version of this?
  2. For me it would have been to stockpile RIF's from Taiwangun pre-BREXIT. Of course that doesn't apply to anyone coming in to the hobby now. I would advise to quickly get it into your head, that what @Rogerborg says about all AEG's essentially doing the same thing is true and if you play mostly woodland, you're not going to get that much use out of a pistol. So when you get your defence, start with a budget to mid-range AEG, replace the inner barrel and hop rubber (learn how to do this yourself!) Use that until you've been around a while and if at that point you're really craving the newest/best AEG that's fine, but keep your old one as a backup. For a sidearm, just get a mid-sized TM and don't pay it much mind after that. That being said, it's also fine to get something for "the collection" but do it with acceptance that it's a luxury, don't try to convince yourself that you "need" it.
  3. £410 for a used "short-stroked" (can be done with a few quids worth of buffers) WE Hi-Capa and 2x drum mags. The latter are "worth £300 alone" - if you find literally the most expensive place online and value used magazines at full-price.. So the RIF is worth around £75, say £80 each for the mags (even that's not factoring in any reduction for buying as a bundle)....just add £175 for a used red dot and mount...bargain!
  4. If I need to fire off some shots at someone darting out of a small space, which material the slide is made of, is literally the last thing on my mind.
  5. Do you have the pistol box but yes, it's either version of the above named pistol from John Wick 3.
  6. I shortened it a smidge, so it sits literally flush to the back of the clip. Think that'll do. Now all I need to figure out is how to keep the motor connectors on this ERG ?....the positive keeps popping off.
  7. You made a long post about the least popular type of gun, the AEP. People just don't feel strongly enough about them, as they're such a limited platform. My understanding is that the SSE18 is a tad snappier due to MOSFET and better bearings, but I'm pretty sure it's still going to shoot 220 on a 0.20g, just like all the rest. If you're having fun fiddling with them, crack on. That's 65% of the hobby anyway.
  8. Two different brands, two different prices but I'm struggling to tell the difference in the actual product (even down to the black inner barrel ring) ?

A lot of this sort of stuff is made by others for ASG. Same way that a lot of Laylax stuff isn't made by them (they're just a bit more open about it).

  9. The elite of us upgrade our pistols until they become too nice to use, so we can justify buying another (stock) model.
  10. OK, cool. Cheers guys.
  11. I'm not actually using a Maxx hop unit but this is the only pic I could find with a notch where the barrel clip goes. Anyway, when fitting a hop rubber I can still see it through this notch, does it need to be trimmed a little bit until I can't see it at all?
  12. I've just picked one of these up second-hand and would like to bump the power up by about 30 - 40 FPS. I've accessed the spring but it's much shorter than standard AEG's (around 125mm). Can I use standard length or do I need to order a special KWA one/cut down a standard? If it's the latter, that's going to make working out which spring to use, a serious case of trial and error!
  13. This isn't correct. Yes the BBU and size are different between TM's G17 Gen.3 & Gen.4 but both the G19 Gen.3 & Gen.4 are the newer style. I can't however speak on the exact parts compatibility of G19 Gen.3 & Gen.4's as I have no experience with the latter.
  14. Really depends what you want to achieve. You don't need to do anything until something breaks, but as you say it's a massive rabbit hole and ends up being far from an £80 pistol. If you want to make a start with some solid basics, I would recommend changing the hop rubber (I like 50 degree flamingos) and some kind of short-stroking. Waldo Customs do a pretty good spring and buffer set for this, but there plenty of others around. Oh and you may want to install a flat/adjustable trigger if the long pull bothers you. I've done all of this plus added a 150mm maple leaf crazy jet inner barrel, Black Mamba upper receiver, AA rotary hop unit and CNC magwell. I can now hop whichever weight of BB I want at 1.1J.
  15. I understand torches in darkened CQB hallways etc (even then power should be restricted), but intentionally dazzling people in woodland games is considered airsoft now?
  16. Does anyone know if they're OK to use with standard nubs? I know they're usually paired with omegas but in my KWA ERG hop chamber, the pressure applied seems to over-hop 0.28's with no hop applied. If not, which other nub works well with them?
  17. Depends on your preferred ergonomics too, as they're due to release a Gen5 MOS version.
  18. Fully custom = changing the hop rubber and nub? ?
  19. If I were you, next time you're at the site (obviously not a public place etc), ask them if you can set your hop and then use at at least 0.25g's when you chrono. I don't know of any sites which will prevent you from playing if you're <1.1J on a 0.25g. With such a short barrel you're probably experiencing joule drop (ie what's 1.18J on a 0.20g, may only be 1.05J on a 0.25g).
  20. Only 330 on 0.20's though and £400 cheaper if you use discount code IDONTGIVEAFUK...
  21. Yeah, they usually run fortnightly games on a Sunday. https://www.red1airsoft.com/
  22. @Colin Allen - Ahhh yes I remember the wildlife thing. I haven't been for ages but as I say generally had a positive experience there, definitely understand your sentiments though. Lack of communication and authority of Marshalls is a pretty common issue from what I've found.
  23. @Beorn - They're decent bunch at Red1 Chislehurst. I did find that some of the game modes led to wandering around, not knowing which direction the enemy team was shooting from. Twice I stumbled across gun fights between people on the same team. Also yeah, most sites have rubbish toilets, Portaloos at best. Driver Wood in Crawley and Battle Lakes in Kent have proper plumbed indoor cubicles and hot running water though. Funny you mention that actually. There was one player being repeatedly shot, putting their hand up but not moving. Turns out he was part of a group with half of them on each opposing team. He was playing silly buggers to stop his friends on our team from shooting his mate.
  24. I went for a woodland skirmish for the first time in just over a month on Sunday. I really had to convince myself to get ready and jump in the car etc. Even out on the field I was feeling a bit lethargic, especially after hop issues forced me back to a gun with just iron sights (I've really grown fond of using a magnified scope, even on a <350fps). My biggest complaint atm is the amount of people just kinda skulking off when they're hit. Especially those who wander around in the middle of the "battlefield" without their hand up (and teammate shooting over their shoulder). I really don't want to overshoot people but I'm sick of giving them the benefit of the doubt and slowing up the games because of it. I did actually have a good time in the end though, after some satisfying sequences. I suppose maybe that's the morale of the story, you sometimes have to be the one who makes it enjoyable for yourself.
  25. I used them for Cerakoting last year. They were apparently in the middle of a move at the time, but communication was poor and it took forever. However it's not like they're scammers or anything.
