  1. You're right, 70% isn't a hard and fast rule but I've always personally thought that unless an item is rare and desirable etc then 70% is a safe bet. Ultimately it's what someone's willing to pay. Personally, I saw it as an item that is readily available (not limited run or discontinued) but batches sell out quickly due to popularity.
  2. DCA apfg mcx spear lt = £625 (out of stock but UK retailer so VAT included where as oversee import may or may not catch the eye of the tax man) High pressure Airsoft vfc M4 gen 3 gbb mags = £174 (3*58) Total = £799 Typical 70% of new rule = £599.3 At 725 you're basically get 1 mag for free from retail price, might only have had 300-400 rounds through but 2nd hand is 2nd hand, right? No retailer warranty etc etc.
  3. Making this thread to highlight some of the things people here at AFUK might be interested in and to introduce people to 4UAD (not affiliated in any way just a fan). NorthEast GBB Famas - 1:12 - I know there is a decent number of FAMAS enjoyers here and figured you guys might like to know about this one. WW1 replicas - 7:37 - Several high quality looking WW1 replicas for all you trench foot enjoyers and renacters. Whole video here I'm a big fan of this channel. Came across them when they had barely more than 100 subs. Their reviews are entertaining, have good production quality and most importantly they have a systematic review methodology. No, I think this shoots well BS, but actual empirical testing in controlled conditions (indoor shooting at set ranges and as many variables as possible controlled for). Seriously, check out their GBB mag performance testing video, they made a temperature chamber to keep the entire GBB at testing temperatures. I think many of us here would enjoy their content! (Mods - Feel free to move/remove this thread if it not entirely appropriate for this section or I'm shilling to much)
  4. I can se how puttig a low ball price might make people suspicious but I don't think putting in such a huge price helps either. Putting in a sensible price would probably help you find sellers who are in your price range. Nothing against the ad poster, just found it funny when I saw the ad
  5. Says looking for but is a sale ad, look at that price for an MP9! You're having a bubble ? (Obviously not a real sale ad but still the price does qualify it for Mack's)
  6. I've left a question, asking for expiry dates on the tanks since there is no clear image or information in the advert itself. We request the jury hold judgement on this until such time has passed that seller may have reasonably expected to have answered the question. However, the prosecution would like to draw attention to the price. £80 for 2 tanks, which can be assumed to mean £40 per tank. BZTactical have tanks of the same capacity, in stock, for £39.95. The prosecution submits that this pricing for this item is sufficiently high to meet the high bar for "Mack's airsoft dreamers of the week thread" charge. The prosecution rests its case and awaits the public jury's verdict.
  7. Why is nobody (paper included) mentioning the kid who actually shot the bb gun at other pupils? What was his punishment? Yes, this kid was stupid for a multitude of reasons, 1) having the gun on him in a public place that is not an airsoft site/somewhere it would be reasonable to be carrying a bb gun and 2) for giving it to someone else to use. The kid who actually shot other pupils should also be excluded, ignorance is not a defence for doing something stupid.
  8. Not in my experience. Mine has fed any M4 mag given to it thus far
  9. Long time hpa user, owned a MTW for a little over a year now. There isn't a rif on the market right now that will perform as well as a MTW out the box. End of story. The amount of money you'd have to spend to get a good rif to perform as well as a MTW is would let you let you have enough change after buying a MTW and line and tank to get some nice accessories like a vortex red dot etc. I've have a polarstar fusion engine (was my first hpa rig) that I spent time and money to get setup up and shooting true as possible. The out the box MTW has 90% of the performance. That last 10% would only matter if all you cared about in Airsoft was absolute performance. The only reason I own AEG's is incase I go to a site that doesn't offer hpa refills. If you drive then you can buy a scuba tank and refill yourself. I don't currently and lugging a scuba tank on public transport would be a pain and get odd looks
  10. My mask as arrived. I got the sierra variant. My thoughts so far, only having tried it on in the house. Its well made, no loose threads on mine and all the stitching is immaculate. The mouth guard is well sized and covers all the vital bits. The only criticism I have and it is a minor one, is that I wish they put a bit a curved profile into the sierra mask along the horizontal plane (red line, see image) of the mask. I've attempted to illustrate what I mean in the image below. In that mast you can see there is a curve to the mask which lets the mesh sit closer to the nose along the top. With the sierra mask as it is, what you get is the the mesh being straight up (orange line). Its not as bad as in the image I've shown but it still protrudes outwards a bit. This leaves a bit of room on the sides where a bb could hit your hose, even with the mask bent into shape. Its not a large gap and you'd be fairly unlucky if a bb managed find that spot but its definitely possible. Not a major issue as your nostrils are well covered so it'd be a case of a strike to the fleshy part of your nose, it'll sting but nothing more I suspect. It would also add to the comfort a bit, as if you try to shape the mask to cover the nose the mesh will start to touch and rub against the tip of your nose. Because the mesh is attached to the fabric, adding in a curve after will strain the fabric which just makes adding in the curve yourself that bit harder. In addition to the added safety and comfort, it'd just look more gucci to have the mesh sit more flush to your face around the top of the nose when worn. Overall, I'd give the mask a solid 8/10. It well made, comfortable and provides good protection. With the above changes it'd be 10/10.
  11. Just ordered the Multicam V1 mask. Will report back when it arrives with that I think. I've been meaning to buy face pro like this for awhile now but was always wondered about the lack of nose protection on most other similar designs.
  12. Everyone goes through this regardless of hobby I believe. I find with this kind of feeling, there are two categories: 1) Temporary and 2) Permanent. Temporary This is the most common, in my opinion. Eventually you just feel tired, bored, burned out, etc and that all leads to a lack of motivation to take part in a hobby you once really enjoyed. Regardless of the cause, it usually best to take a step back and see if a break is all you need, no matter how long. Whether you sell your gear or hang on to it in the mean time is a personal choice. What usually ends in regret is selling your gear because you want the cash for something else that isn't necessary. Duration of this phase can vary wildly - just take it a day at a time would be my advice here. Permanent This category is one you'll only know you're in with hindsight, either you're taking that break an realize you have zero desire to ever try the hobby again or you've sold up and something makes you remember the former hobby and you know you're never going back in that moment. I'm made this realisation with gaming a few years back. I used to be an avid gamer, could spend all day every day playing. Especially competitive games but I just don't care for it anymore. At least not in the way I once did, now I play single player RPG games, not for the game but for the stories. Which considering the state of gaming is far and few between these days. I know I'm trending towards no longer gaming at all but I'm comfortable in the knowledge that I just find different things take my interest now. Its not something external to the hobby bringing me down like depression or stress. Usually when its an outside factor, you need to resolve that issue before you start throwing stuff out because once it passes you'll just regret your clouded decision. Either way, there's nothing wrong with feeling like this unless it some outside factor causing it. Time changes everything and everyone, and your interest and hobbies are no different. Take a step back and see if you just need to let it sit until the spark comes back or if something external is smothering that spark that needs addressing. Most importantly, remember that your friends won't change because of this. Even if what initially started the friendship was a common hobby like airsoft. Those mates will still be down for going to the pub or whatever alternative works for you to socialise and hangout. Those who do disappear were never your friend to begin with but a hobby based colleague. You'd chat around the table in the safe area and rush objectives together like work colleagues on a break or working on a project together but once you move to a new job, you don't talk to them anymore.
  13. Vector = £460 Mags - £90 Total £550 All from extreme airsoft. At 70% you're looking a £385 second hand and that's not taking into account the two tone nature. £420 wanted for a two tone vector (AEG) with 3 extra mags and the most egregious thing? Use of comic sans font family for the typeset. Can't help but wonder if the price was chosen simply not by logic but for the '420 blaze it' meme, font choice supports my case, and the final bit of evidence? The two tone colour is clearly marijuana green. The prosecution rests it case.
  14. But they're not (a bit blunt, but not trying to be rude) both those two items, you say you have tested fitted so by definition they can not be brand new. You can say they're used but like new or open box but definitely not brand new. The general consensus on this forum tends to be unless its from a retailer, you don't class something as new even if unopened. Part of paying full retail price is the customer support and warranty they are legally obligated to provide. Something you as a private non commercial seller don't have to do. Again, not to familiar with the real steal market but I think the same rules still largely apply. Someone chime in if have more experience/info to offer.
  15. £22.55 from Brownell's (in OD green or black and brown) and a further £5.99 for delivery £28.54 total brand new (70% of retail would be £19.99) Strike 1 £31.90 again brownell's, £5.99 delivery. £37.89 total brand new (70% retail would be £26.52) Strike 2 £67.65 Brownell's, 5.99 delivery. Total £73.64 brand new (70% retail would make this £51.55) Strike 3, you're out! I get that it's real steal stuff but even at 80% of retail value those items seems a bit over priced to me. Those prices are so close to retail that I'd buy new just to the new item smell and the unboxing/opening experience of a new item. Maybe I'm being unreasonable here?
