The arrival of my Ferro Mini Dangler and Crye Stretch Flap sees both of my chest rigs finished (at least for now). The AirLite is set up for when I’m running an AR or AK74, the Microfight is setup for running pistol only in CQB or my VSR (turns out Spiritus Pistol inserts take VSR mags pretty nicely).

And a Vortex Crossfire, pair of NGRS mags and a Laylax NGRS wrench for my birthday from my long suffering girlfriend.

Fresh from Mark at FMJUK, here’s my crack at building a DMR

Semi only, chronos in at 430-435 with 0.2’s. Started life as a two-tone Cyma that needed some tlc. Fresh spring, new hop unit+barrel, changed the motor to a higher torque Infinity and rewired it for standard Gate-style mosfets.

Picked up a wooden stock from Airsofttiger. Sanded, stained and finished etc.

Sanded off seam lines, got some slightly unusual (but real-steel accurate) Winchester trades cut and sent it off for a coat of Cerakote E110 Midnight.

A TM G34 with all the trimmings (shoutout to the lovely Prowin mags) and a pair of TRMRs with multi shot bases from a lovely bloke on here that’s unfortunately leaving the game. Genuinely gutted because I’d have loved to get some games in with him, but it’s come to a good home. This’ll be the new ‘CQB primary’ stuff.

The arrival of some additional long WTFix straps means I could finish putting the Crye Airlite chest rig together, and my Ferro FCPC v5 arrived from the US. Placard is very much a placeholder, not entirely settled on what will live there just yet.

IRR treatment absolutely makes a difference. Pictured in the vid below is some truspec tigerstripe and some russian ss-leto. admittedly none of these are marketed as IRR resistant but compare it to the chinese made gear below. The difference is much more apparent with the IR illuminator turned on, though you can still notice the difference with it off.  I've ordered some IRR spray paint so I will compare later.

Its harder to find stuff specifically marketed as IRR treated. I was specifically looking at combat shirts as I am currently combat shirt-less. I was looking at OPS/Ur-tactical ones which have milspec sleeves which should be IRR treated. However I doubt the torso portion is - i note this is the same with the british army ubacs too.

as for washing i have no idea at all but a friend in the army says this:

"Use a stiff brush and no cleaning products, bit of mud is "ally"
But serious don't know what would preserve IRR - normally they're good for "100 washes" and you have to exchange the kit. (Which never happens)"

I just had so many different air leaks.
This was on an AEG with the dual source adapter not the MTW.
I'd get the co2 working nicely, then I'd run hpa for a couple of weeks, then going back to co2 it would be leaking.
When it was working it was great.

Part of the problem with the setup in my opinion is that the reg and co2 adapter is a combined device that sits inside the provided buffer tube, which then has to create an air seal around it.  The front of the buffer becomes a pressurized chamber.

The other thing I didn't like was that the macro line isn't really attached to anything, you just poke it through a hole in the stock adapter which creates a seal around it. A bit like a nozzle sitting on a piston head.
If your macro line is not stiff enough, it will kink into your gearbox shell and get pushed out by the pressure, resulting in an instant co2 dump.  They do provide a small section of thicker line in the package for this.
I suspect they designed it this way so that you could slide the reg/c02 out of the buffer tube without needing to open your receiver to detach the macroline or remove the buffer.

The main benefit of the wraith co2 is that it's the cleanest looking solution, you can't tell it's hpa.  The compromise seems to be the buffer tube design as that's where all my leaks were.

The UGS with co2 won't look anywhere near as good due to the receiver adapter, but hopefully I should have less issues with the separate reg - co2 chamber design.

I've just bought that cyma from TG for just over £200 with fees.

So dave charges £400 in upgrades and still uses nuprol parts. He's on to a winner, upgrade the next gun with parts you took out the last one.

Always intended to hpa it out the box as I wanted a semi locked 7.62 dmr to go with my mk12.
Looked at used sr25k's but the prices are always jacked up with 'upgrades' that I wouldn't need.

I'm impressed with it tho, has some nice touches.
Much better than the CA and even g&g aegs I bought 3-4 years ago for similar prices.

So I have had yet another phone call with UPS this afternoon after they promised they would call me back in an hour this morning. After talking to the support initially I was then passed to a customer support manager. They are all very polite and not in an enviable position. I expect the amount of calls they are getting and what little they can do must be very stressful.  As such it is always best to be as polite as possible even though that is very hard at times.

So I spent a while discussing with him the situation with UKARA and the risk of that running out. Again they will pass messages on but it is up to the Poland depot as to if they do anything about it.

What was interesting was what he said is likely happening and would explain why people wait different times. Our packages will all be loaded up in trailers waiting to depart. However, regardless of whether all your paperwork is good to go and has cleared customs, there will be other packages in the trailer waiting to be cleared or missing paperwork. The trailer won't move until the last one is sorted. They may unload and sort out packages that are good to go but you can imagine this is a last resort and something they would avoid doing at all costs.

I tend to agree with Luke here, their customer service is absolutely dire. It may be me being ‘old fashioned’ but a company shouldn’t have a means of contacting them which they literally ignore. On the whole if I’ve ordered something that was in stock I’ve received it in a timely manner, but for general queries or chasing things up that weren’t in stock they’re awful. I shouldn’t have to contact a company for updates on something I’m waiting on, let alone have to specifically chase it up via a phone call because they can’t be bothered to reply to anything else.

As for the actual thread topic, I popped in an order on the 25th of Feb and expect to be waiting a while (and would have done whether I’d read through this thread or not).

I get why folks are irked, but when the flood gates opened on orders were you really expecting it to be expedient? Irrelevant of the fact UPS are generally useless we’re in a transitional period and logistics all over the world have been shagged for months. I ordered a face pro mask from the Netherlands at some point in early January and that eventually turned up mid February, it’s hard for me to look at it in any other way than ‘it’s takes as long as it takes’. Outside of making sure I’m keeping up on the correspondence from UPS there’s not much else I can do 🤷🏻‍♂️. Some folks will get things fast than me, and some slower. It’s so up in the air at the moment that trying to attach any degree of logic is largely a waste of time, and that’s before you add in that the courier in question is Useless Postal Service. At least their uniform colour is appropriate to the level of service they deliver... or don’t as the case may be.

I tend to disagree with this as a generalisation, it was just much easier to be oblivious to. In my case, partially because I was younger and there were things I simply didn't understand back then... and partially because social media was less of a thing. Granted this was back in the age of the ASCUK forums where you still had a host of 'grumble' threads which tended to take very similar patterns to threads you see on here.

    Thread about cheating:
    'I hate cheaters.'
'I wish we could all be honest.'
    'Marshalls should be better.'
    [Someone mentions headshots]
'Just wear full face pro, if you don't it's your own fault.'
    [Macho man storms in]
'Who cares it doesn't even hurt.'
[Someone asks if using 0.25g BBs is considered cheating]
'Someone questions why you'd use 0.25g when 0.2g BBs go further' (Note, as we now know this is not true.)
... So on and so forth...

Seriously, read through commonly occuring topics and tell me they don't largely wind up taking a very similar path until they fizzle out. I have no doubt that folks who have been around for a while have that 'here we go again' reaction when certain topics crop up.

Hell the only thing that's a huge amount different is now half of the threads include someone asking a question regarding UKARA (which wasn't a thing for a decent portion of my time on ASCUK).

TLDR, it's always existed... it was just easier to ignore/not be aware of.

P.S. Not intended as a dig at this, or any other forum for that matter, forums have been my prefered way of being involved in hobby communities for a long time. Threads on forums for more general topics around a niche hobby tend to be very cyclic, to a point dejavu can set in as you're reading through threads at times. My preference for forums over anything else is that it's simply much easier to filter what I do and do not wish to read and/or participate in coversation with.

Take off the usual uktactical discount of 10%, postage and vat and that DCS is really selling for just over £100.

Uktactical probably buys from WAS for around £75 and sells for a typical 30% retail markup.

WAS pays £40 but has to cover shippping from china, import tax?, r&d, design, testing, storage etc.

Both have overheads and profit to make.

I'd imagine it's those juicy contracts that pay full rrp that drive the profits tho.

The announcement of lock down dates has me excited for airsoft again.
Having had a bad experience with a Wolverine co2 stock (Aeg), I'm having another go.

I've opted for Polarstar UGS stocks/reg this time
hpa stock for the MTW (milspec thread) 33g co2 stock with an AEG fitting for an in transit DMR
My understanding is that I should be able to switch between co2 and 13ci bottle on both guns by switching the stock arms?

For a DMR I would usually default to a Kythera but if you are using an EFCS gearbox then look at an F2.
You can buy a black leaf board to integrate the stock EFCS so no issues with gearbox.
