    It's GT85!

I use it all the time.  Great stuff.  You can get it in trade cans of 5L and 1L pump spray bottles too.  The 1L are favourite.

Thanks for correcting me, that's the stuff. Toyota have a lot to answer for confusing me 🤦‍♂️😂

But thanks for that I didn't realise they offered 1 litre and 5 litres versions!!!

Totally agree with the no grease.

Tried a thin coat of LT2 only once after a trigger box clean and rebuild on my Tm Mk18.. Had run-on in semi-auto randomly and very annoyingly.

(It was/is a full CNC steel trigger box however with all sears/everything else inside also CNC steel)

Thin weight oil (and not much) is the way. No run-on 👍

On a similar thread I've had really good results using GT-86 which is a PTFE spray that is also a dry lube which means that it doesn't attract and hold dust.

With regards to particularly silicon grease (not oil) this should be avoided for metal on metal and sliding contact as it heats up and then binds. It's not a lubricant but rather a grease to protect o-rings from drying out as well improving the air seal. Other greases will also likely attract dirt and bind up with time as well. Where they do work well is where the surfaces don't slide such as in a gearbox because there is simply less friction involved.

But yeah, I'm a big fan of GT-86 and some bisley gun oil on the bolt for smoothness 👍

  3. So I'm in the process of building up a toxicant rattler and I'm looking at the T8/EMG lancer mags. Has anyone got any experience with these? How do they compare to the stock mws magazines?

(For reference I have more than enough TM mws mags I just like the look of these for a .300 BLK build)

    Thanks guys

for Filmsim sure, respect that, add to emersion and all that.

for a skirmish game/day..... slightly different vibe

Tbf from what I remember they don't apply this to the skirmishes that they run and in reality I don't think that I've actually seen them take issue with a rif for as long as I've been playing there, they're generally pretty relaxed really 😅

I'll have to see if I can find that post...

  5. In fairness I think they're just trying to avoid things like this 😅

But yeah gunman suggest a real world dmr as a base, and I kinda appreciate it really but that's a different conversation.

Try Gunman Airsoft for FilmSim, or more casual MilSim events.  Very well ran and a good bunch generally

I'd second this try one of their filmsims, they're good fun and if you enjoy the team work side of things Okto8 might be worth looking at if you want to try a weekend event that is even more roleplay based 👌

My concern over internals is mostly down to gearboxes, since some appear to be V2, some V2.5, and the compatibility of HPA engines with said gearboxes. Plus, it looks like I'd have to move out of my comfort zone if I went with one of the (many) V2.5 gearbox ones, since Wolverine don't appear to do an engine for the SR-25 so I'd be looking elsewhere (both of my current HPA setups are Wolverine). What HPA engines are out there that are compatible with a V2.5 gearbox? I've found the Polarstar Kythera, but that's about it and I've heard the purely mechanical HPA engines can be less consistent / noisier than battery operated ones (at least that seems to be true with all the VSR systems (mancraft vs bolt m vs bolt)). I'll be fixing it to semi-auto anyway, so that limitation of the Kythera isn't an issue, but I'd rather get some opinions or user experiences before shelling out on something as expensive as a HPA engine.

I think the V2.5 versions will probably be the better option. Unfortunately some of the V2 gearboxed rifs often have very long nozzles which may make HPA engine compatability an issue (I know the Ares definitely does anyway.)

For me A&K, G&P or classic army are the ones i'd look at.

Hopefully you got on ok, they're currently my go too for anything that doesn't require earpro... although sadly I have my fingers crossed you got a good pair... gotta love that made in china QC.

Must be a lanky thing , my mate is a long streak of p**s with the arms of a gibbon and he very successfully runs a drop leg as well , where as I being a short arse don’t ! 🤬

100%... i think the orangutan build becomes a bit of a requirement, but sometimes needs must and its the nicest way to wear it with webbing... I completely copied one of the pathfinder guys, so can claim no credit for that. but since webbing only comes out when my local turns into a jungle I live with it.

Red wolf review of the rifles. Unfortunately (but kinda expected) it seem these rifles have sub par performance for a ridiculous £700 price tag.

I’ll stick to my S&T for now. Only cost £299 and seems to perform better than this bank account draining paper weight….

Seems like this will inevitably join the pile of overpriced junk historic guns along with the likes of RWAs Enfield and ares own L1A1.

When will these Airsoft manufactures learn! Oh well, here’s hoping for the G&G and maybe S&T to manufacture a No4

Sadly you may be right... That bolt pull also looks very odd ... It shouldn't be stuff both ways unless they've done something very strange 🤔

EDIT: whatever you buy, go for Kenwood 2 pin connectors

Just to second this... most ptt's with kenwood connectors will work.

For my opfor rig I've been using a retevis fist mic and a cheap D shape earpiece earpiece that plugs straight into it which work surprisingly well considering it costs about £18 or so off amazon. Link here and example earpiece here

  12. I have to say that I am in the minority of people that a drop leg actually works for (cyclist quads plus the arms of an orangutan on a fairly tall bloke) but even then mine only gets used to place the holster below webbing which won't really work for 99% of people  anyway, but is occasionally used. It's a very specific use case I know, but I find that the safariland leg straps plus the plate the holster mounts to do keep it pretty stable for me.

But then for my normal beltline that I run with my plate carrier, the same safariland holster goes on a mid ride, and that will always be my preference as the draw is so much nicer.

I have done Milsims.  All of the above is true.

the enjoyment form a well organised event is excellent.  It's best to have your own gear, but tbh, you can get inventive and take minimal stuff.  Your loadout needs to be 90% OK.  RIFs are the bit we sometimes cheat on a bit.

Age etc is down to the organiser.  I've taken lads who are too young for the advertised age, but who are known onsite as decent players.

My advice is pick a game.  You can ask advice on here which games are decent.  Than call the organiser.  Don't text or email, just call and have a chat and sort things out re: kit/loadout/age etc.  If you really want to do Milsim and you've got the right attitude you'll be fine.

If you are a new player check out filmsim and perhaps try that first.  You'll get a feel for the camping gear side and loadout without the full on milsim pressure.

BTW your loadout does not need to be a perfect replica of anything it just needs to work and ideally be comfortable and capable of carrying everything you need in the field for most events. the primary thing that organisers will care about is the camo rules but that's just so you can ID who is on what team.

Also I just want to dispel the whole gear snob thing, I've never once witnessed this at any milsim event I've been too over the years. Having said that there are a lot of geardo's out there(Myself included) that will talk until the sun comes up about the latest gear 😂

Finally if you are new to things 100% try out some of the daylight filmsims out there. My go to on that front is gunman airsoft which are based in the southeast and have hire kit at all their events if you ask. this also includes historical stuff such as Vietnam, cold war etc as well as the modern Okto series, just be aware that roleplay is a big thing for the immersion side of things. (Some bloke you just shot screaming in the corner for example, but it does make the events really cinematic too.)

  14. There are quite a lot of different belt manufacturers out there at the moment but it sounds like you are after a shooters belt and most of the real steel brands are probably pretty good... Just please whatever you do avoid FRV tailoring at the moment. from what i can see they've gone into administration. (Although if you do find one second hand it is a decent belt.)

As far as my top brands (This is gucci kit with a price to match.) have a look at the C2rfast shootersbelt, ferro concepts bison belt or possibly the axl belt (milspec tailor kit is also in this bracket)

Alternative really solid belts that you can get for a good price are things like blackhawk(Old-school but comfortable and proven kit that comes up on ebay often enough.) TacbeltsUK, british tactical (Their lightweight horizon laminate stuff especially is made by a really clever guy on IG Called Flimmurr which is top kit made in the UK at bargain prices.)

Obviously there are loads of other brands out there and there are also other styles such as the HSGI and warrior padded belts that will be solid too, but this was just a way to throw some more brands out there for my 2pence worth. (I dont know much about the GP or Odin belts from tactical kit so I can't comment on them unfortunately.) The main thing to remember is that for gas mags you need a fairly stiff belt and a good holster to stop everything flapping around or digging in etc.

That said I've heard a bit of talk about people not bothering to use sights on long arms and just walking the BBs in, and while yeah, you can do that, it doesn't work in all light conditions. And you're missing out on precision that can make the game a lot more fun IMO. I love having magnification (though that's a separate thing), and I like being able to take longer shots without having to  spam BBs to get on target. But maybe this is just because I like a DMR style of play?

I always use optics on my rifles and SMG's but I should caveat that I also mostly use gas rifles and when you're talking about 35 rds in a mag walking rounds on target doesn't work. I'd also say that allows you to indulge in some sneaky shooting... there is something fun about quietly working through some bushes to take a couple of shots and disappear again before they can identify where you were firing from. (Quiet easy to do with a gbbr as the sounds a bit harder to locate from just a few shots.)

Having said that I am pretty similar to you with regards to instinctive point shooting with a pistol. although at more open sites you do need to aim a bit more due to longer distances and smaller targets, for that reason I'd never not have the sights on my pistol.

I might also wait for the CO2 version if that does become a thing.

I could imagine that the CO2 conversion is just a canister in the bolt style or something like the wolverine bolt although i'd happily be wrong. still be interested to see what the performance is like stock though...

although at that price i'm waiting till they're actually in country before i order.

I’m not really sure guides are needed.

I think half of the fun is building load outs and researching what you need (for those who do it, personally I don’t care about matching kit etc)

They're definitely a labour of love if you go through with publishing any kind of articles, especially as they are constantly evolving so they become out of date very quickly.

And that's before you get the purists involved arguing about the different colours and shades of multicam webbing available and in use (yes that genuinely happened on a FB group yesterday.)

Having said that, if you want to write then go for it, put the research in and enjoy the process. You're unlikely get famous or make money or get free stuff but you might have fun and provide a few readers with some entertainment.

For some inspiration have a read of some of the good blogs out there like ATRG, thegeardocrow, thefull9, thegearconfessional or the reptile house blog. Enjoy 👍
