Specna Orion gearboxes are prone to cracking at the front. That's something you can look for yourself. If it happens, it happens, and it's time for a new shell or a complete new box. Internally, if it sounds OK and shoots OK, it probably is OK. Shimming and re-greasing is a reasonable idea, if it's done right. Replacing parts before they fail, I'm not convinced on, given the random QC of even "upgraded" parts. I'd just hate to see you fork over £50+ for some Skylar to either do nothing, or just spooge some lube in, or actually make it worse.

The first part I'd recommend changing on an Edge is that quick-drop grip. Just about any £10 Ali Express replacement will be better. The Specna rotary units are pretty decent. A Maple Leaf rubber and nub work well, and that's about the easiest possible thing to do yourself. Your money, your choice, I'd just recommend being clear about what you want done to it, and why. "A service" can mean just about anything, or nothing.

That looks rather peculiar. So, is this being sold by KoA? Like, retail, with a warranty? Or is a customer gun that still there and he doesn't want / can't afford it, and they're happy to sell it on his behalf? I'm almost interested enough to ask.

"Not on show" and "not too messy" sounds like you want them inside some sort of structure, rather than just bin bags and a tie-down strap holding them together. Do you care if it's secure? Caveated that with airsoft quality control, nothing is guaranteed. It's just more likely that you'll get a good, usable example of a Silverback or (gritted teeth) SSG-10 than a cheap JG or CYMA. Steyr Scout is also getting some love.

Nah, you only need to change the hop rubber. And arm. And unit. And barrel. And add spacers. And change the spring. And piston. And guide. And trigger unit. Once you've spent another £300 on it to replace every single internal part, it'll be fine... It's an airsoft truism that all decent bolt actions are built, not bought, but my Silverback TAC-41 says otherwise.

I honestly wouldn't like to say. Some of those no-brand Amazon and eBay specials have reasonable polycarb lenses, some don't. Price is no indicator. Apologies, I don't run an integrated helmet-and-mask, so I can't point you at anything specific. Reputable brands are Dye, Valken (I run an MI-7, you can remove the peak and fit it with a helmet), Bolle, Revision, Pyramex (the I-Force dual pane glasses). I you want to go full face, you can use any paintball[*] rated eye/face protection for airsoft, just not the other way around. Ahoy and welcome. Yes, you'll discover muscles that you never knew you had, as well as soft and fragile bits. The best initial advice is don't blow the kids' inheritance on an armoury of two-tones. You'll get a bit hit of adrenaline from both playing and purchases, but the classifieds are full of "never/barely skirmished" guns. Best to rent until you have a defence and are sure you'll stick with the hobby, or at least keep a rein on spending. Footwear, eye and face protection are the first priorities, shooty things come later. Tips on playing are just: call your hits regardless of what's going on around you, and never take any of it too seriously, even if others are. It's just dress-up and hide-and-seek with toy guns at the end of the day.

Eh, it is what it be. My G36 (with an adjustable spring tensioner) shoots 1.2J on 0.2g but bang on 1J with 0.28g, at maximum pre-tension, which isn't far off of the difference you're seeing. This is OK, since I can dial it down to get under 1.1J with 0.2g for CQB, and I'd rather keep it usable indoors with 0.2g and outdoors with 0.28g without spring swapping. My DMR is shooting 1.8J with 0.32g. I couldn't even tell you what it's shooting with 0.2g, or any other weight, because... well, why would I care? I've tuned it for the BB weight that I use with it. That's what you'll have to do too, one way or another. 60 degrees might be a bit grabby for 0.4g, have you considered 70? Looks like it's already got a rotary hop, I wouldn't change that. Air seal spot on?
