  1. Interesting, but it looks like two separate tasks mashed together: thinking, and shooting. I mean, have you met airsofters?
  2. I imagine that he's thinking that there's one born every minute. I imagine he's probably right, sadly, given that he's got positive feedback. Still, it's a consensual transaction, nobody is actually being tricked.
  3. ... via methods with zero possibility of getting your money back if he posts you a literal lemon. Mind you, if he posts you a tomato, you're up on the deal.
  4. Ahoy, user new to [FORUM TOPIC] from [COUNTRY LOCATION]. How are you enjoying it so far?
  5. Yup, mine has performed like a champ, for all its bargain bin price. The stock motor isn't great, it's a looooong trigger pull, and the hop unit adjustment lever screws wanted tightened, but pew-per-pound it's probably my best buy.
  6. I am insulted! I've worked hard for decades to become one. (Although I agree that target shooting = airgun, not airsoft)
  7. Ahoy and welcome back. We've seen those sites mentioned a few times, hopefully someone will chirp up. As you know, it's easy to make a new chum at airsoft: "Neat gun, mate", and you've got a friend for life.
  8. It doesn't matter what your intent is, only what the toy-that's-suddenly-a-firearm is capable of. We're also aware that private land tends to be viewable by the public, and Patty Panic likes to screech "MURDER-GUN!". The news section here has plenty of cautionary tales of airsofters being given unexpected involuntary close-up views of real steel firearms. All that said, most HPA rigs are likely to be Section 5s, and the chances of anyone actually being done for that are so tiny that I don't see any great threat to the hobby. So in general terms, I'll say that a V2 gearbox will take V2 "AEG" springs. There are no actual standards in airsoft, and no two "M150" springs are going to be the same, either manufacturer to manufacturer, or batch to batch. Suck it and see. However, I'd caution against fitting an M150 not for the legal issues but because V2 shells are prone to cracking at the front: a heavier spring can literally blow the front of the gearbox off. You may find that your motor struggles to pull an M150 as well, and could be prone to locking up. And for airsoft purposes, more energy often doesn't mean more effective range anyway: there's little point slinging BBs 5 or 10 metres further if they're all over the place at that range. If you want to increase target accuracy, it's all about consistency. Air seal, barrel stabilisation (put some tape on it until it's as snug as you can get it), and the hop unit pressed back against the gearbox solidly. Barrels, we like ZCI (or AOLS) for value. Hop units, the ZCI plastic rotary hop is loved, and is likely to work well enough in any generic M4, but there's nothing standard or guaranteed in airsoft. Maple Leaf 50, 60 or 70 degree hop rubbers (Macaron or Autobot, not the silicone MR), and Maple Leaf omego nubs or knock off equivalents. ak2m4.co.uk is a great source for parts, and is run by a very decent chap.
  9. Mmm, they even look nasty and toyish in the promo images. Shame, just a few more £££ buys you decent enough polyplasticmer. To... uh... owners. Because... umm... because it sold. Fair point though, Silverback do seem to be one of the few exceptions that don't just say "Tough, buy another one" to their customers. I'm not bagging on them as a brand, I'm a happy TAC-41 owner (new version with the sorted feed ramp). Well, me too, but bear in mind that we few, we happy forum few, represent the most interested airsofters. How many times have you seen someone on site who's dropped mortgage money on their DEVGRU SOCOM PDW WTF and yet hands it to a tech or marshal or mate to adjust the hop.
  10. Have you tried standing further away? Aw, maaaan, it's the anniversary of both Dermot Morgan and Frank Kelly's deaths.
  11. In before "Saw it when I switched to a new bottle of BBs, but they're the same brand I've always used, so they must be made to the same standards, right?"
  12. That's a pretty good question. Airsoft wisdom says: softer rubbers for cold weather and lower energy (or fps, not necessarily the same thing), harder rubbers for hot weather or higher energy, but I can't say I've seen anyone doing a bench test of different harnesses against each other. 🤔
  13. Hmm, I have one that's already in bits awaiting conversion to a laspistol (the better to server the Emperor), and wired to Deans. If I ever get it back together, I might see if I can blow it apart again. Try running a 6 shot revolver at 0.5J with no hop up. Every hit is a triumph. If you want performance, then I'd find reasons not to get an MP5K.
  14. I've long been intrigued by the APS UAR which isn't quite based on anything real. And the equation in my head is: £190 APS UAR + £370 of uPgRaDe parts/labour vs £560 MDR-X (plus whatever it takes to sort it out).
  15. /thread. AEPs do work, and with a 7.4V lipo (and mosfet) the response and ROF isn't awful. But you'll see under 0.5J, and while you can put in stronger springs, there's only a tiny cylinder volume to work with. I find that an SMG or small carbine using a full size V2/V3 gearbox offers far more capability than an AEP, and I run my MP5K about 50/50 with my BASR. That said, a GBB pistol is great fun. It depends on weather and site.
  16. Looks like they are fixable, you "just" need to "upgrade" some of the Silverback parts and solutions to worse ones. And yes, they're one of the least gopping and heretical bullpups around, relatively speaking.
  17. I think that's a bit cynical, even for my motto. The Glennies of this hobby-sport tend to list their fraudulent wares accurately, in order to attract more mugs.
  18. The same replies as for the Specna. They're both generic, both CYMA-de-facto-standard-ish compatible. In fact, the DE doesn't have the question marks over its gearbox shell that the Specna does. Same caveat too, the DE fire control system has some decent features, but I don't think it has active brake, so you may experience double-shooting on semi (or you may not, it's entirely down to how everything works out inside your specific example. I guess it's time for this again.
  19. [Chortle, snort] I posted that before spotting that the fix is to install a CYMA bevel gear. Silverback managed to design and make a specific gear that fits less well than a generic one. The mind boggles.
  20. Like, ordering pineapple and anchovy pizza? Sorry to hear that you didn't get to play, but sometimes just a range day and watching some other mugs slog up and down a hill can be rewarding. We're doing simulated war crimes now? 🤔 Ah, I see you're a sidearm man of culture too. Love mine as a sniper secondary.
  21. Love me 3-points, simple as. Very much depends on the gnu though, where the sling mounts are, and where it naturally sits and balanced at rest. I find they work very well on an MP5K or G36C, not so much on an AR. But then, you can use it as a 2-point if that works better. Plus, it's more stuff to fiddle around with, which is half the fun. Bungies can get bent, simple two pointers work just fine.
  22. Really? Luke's point is that airsofters don't read instructions, and don't put things together on benches. That wiring pinch point is awful design, and an accident waiting to happen. That you've heard of. Yet. On a brand new gun. That's really not a problem? We're just ignoring that damage to the gears that we can see has already occurred? Silverback will only revise the bevel gear if they sell enough of these shagged units to pay for more development. At a minimum they should be sending a new gear to any owner that asks. Eh, well, it's only five hundred and sixty pounds (and upwards), you can't expect CYMA levels of engineering. 😄
