Oh, nice. Yes, I'm a huge fan of fans. That's a decent looking design and I do hope that they actually ship units to those who've pre-ordered. However, having seen several such projects stall at the "nearly ready to ship!" state indefinitely, I'm going to wait for the £30 Ali Express clones.

And without all the bestest-ever TM parts that have been swapped out. So he's charging £200 for the plastic shell of a TM. Is that the part that contains the TM pixie dust?

Some Specnas had great QC, then they had terrible QC, then they had OK QC. That's the problem with recommending just about anything in airsoft: OEM changes, rebrandings and bait-and-switches mean that you can never be sure that what was true yesterday will be true tomorrow. But, yes, Double Eagle M9XX, or Specna Arms Edge 2.0 are both fine at the moment. There is no "best" airsoft gun, since even if you assume perfect functionality and compare feature-by-feature, there's no objective value on any of those features. Whatever puts a smile on your face is the best gun. Personally, I wouldn't buy an M4 without a quick change spring system, and at that price point, I'd want a fire control system - which both the DE and Edge 2.0 have. Have a look through those ranges, find a few that appeal to you visually, then ask for specific advice either for or against.

I doubt that anybody at your local sites does.

One hundred billion fps. The sites I play at tend to be very tolerant of (spring) tri-shots, and full-auto-only guns, on the basis that they've not seen any that are a problem in practice. Of course, if you're not looking, you won't see.

Nah, I get it, you're right to ask. That site does look very... rustic. Personally I view a phone-call as a last resort these days, since it's an inefficient interrupt-driven way for a business to deal with an issue, and will hold them up from dealing with other customers. tl;dr version - people who phone businesses probably kick puppies and leave gum stuck to lift buttons.

Hop might struggle, I'd suggest holding it this way instead.

Meh. It's just another high ROF AEG with a box mag (and more ways to malfunction). No different to someone BRRRTING with a FireHawk. Don't make me break out the memepic. The impressive bit is how they've managed to sync up the barrels with the puff from the piston: I'd be fairly confident that'll go wrong - or be "upgraded" until it goes wrong - in short order if you actually use it.

Surprisingly, they do seem to actually shoot more or less consistently. Lolz and all, but more to go wrong.

Thanks for the follow-up, and apologies for missing this. I'd have suggested a set circlip pliers, which are a generally handy thing to have.

Nice job. The airline is a good shout, I reckon you want something that applies some positive outwards pressure while the window material is curing. Did you lube it with silicone spray or similar as a release agent? I tried this with sugru and a PTFE-tape-wrapped 6mm drill bit shank, but despite leaving it 24 hours before withdrawing the bit, the sugru then slumped into the barrel to the extent that I was hopped to the moon with no pressure applied. Some folk report success with bog standard silicone sealant, I may give that a try as well. [EDIT] I should stress that this is just for fun, really, since Maple Leaf rubbers and nubs already do a pretty good job.

The X-ASR will protect the trigger contacts and (probably) provide a low resistance wiring path to the stock motor. Bu that's all that it does, and if you throw in a beefier motor and/or spring, it can pet its lip and refuse to supply the necessary current. I'd chalk that up to my example of it, except someone else here reported the same issue, so I expect it's a design feature. The Aster in the 2.0s is a fully featured fire-control system, and those guns represent pretty good value for money considering the price of a standalone Aster.
