  1. Not quite. He'd dry-fired gun he'd just checked into another marshal's face. Then that marshal shot him back with an "empty" gun that wasn't empty. Cocking around, in other words: it's all fun and games until someone does lose an eye. This here: As we like to say in Jockland to double confirm that we believe something: Aye. Right. Although I'm sure their accident book (if they even have one) was completely empty, until suddenly it wasn't. This is why I don't trust anyone at sites now, up to and including owners. It shouldn't be that way, but it do.
  2. I'd (sadly) be in favour of them, since I've seen far, far too many instances of "no firing at all in the safe zone, no exceptions" being interpreted as not applying to regulars, marshals'-mates, marshals, the site owner... Which is the even sadder part, that you can mandate anything you like, but if it's not actually enforced - with penalties beyond a token yell from the site shop - then the problem people will continue to create problem situations. I just switch to more casual eyepro in "safe" zones now. 😢
  3. Hmm, I hadn't spotted that the Edge 2.0s are £300 and up now. That's harder to justify when Double Eagles come in at £100 less (albeit in polymer) with a decent fire control system. That said, if you have the budget, the Edge 2.0s will probably be fine, they've got that ASTER swagger, and they're in stock. You could spend months trying to decide between M4s / 416s based on largely imaginary differences, while prices keep rising and they keep going in and out of stock.
  4. By which he means he's sprayed more snot-green on the grips, then sweaty-palmed half of it off. I like how he doesn't know what make or model the shotgun is (AGM MP003?) but he knows how much it's worth (it's not).
  5. /thread, basically. You're always going to be disappointed by the reality of slinging under half a gram of plastic at a couple of Joules, versus any other form of firearm, including pellet air rifles. If you absolutely must do it, then I agree with the Novritsch SSG10, your suggestion of a Silverback SRS, or the Silverback TAC-41. I'm very happy with my TAC-41 out-of-the-box, it's almost (but not quite) like being in a YouTube sniper video. There's no single best answer, as it entirely depends on the example that you receive - airsoft QC is all over the place, even with "high end" brands.
  6. True, but you can have Wehrmacht without any spicy, spikey S's. That's always a conscious choice, it's not a case of bigger boys making you windmill up, then running away.
  7. Without wishing to be That Guy, I'd actively recommend against VFCs as while people demonstrably do get examples that (almost) work, they're notorious for needing work done on them. At that asking price, it's not a gamble I'd be willing to take when Double Eagles M9XX or Specna Arms Edge 2 guns offer more features, including quick-change springs and an actual fire control systems, right out of the box, for a lot less. I can't speak to Arcturus, but I'd highlight that the recommended model above doesn't appear to be available from (e.g.) PatrolBase in the UK, and that brands can produce a wide range of quality, so it's not a blanket recommendation. What I would stress is that airsoft QC is all over the place and you can get peaches and lemons within the same batch, let alone the same platform or manufacturer, so it's always a bit of a gamble. I never play up without a backup gun (or two, or three) in the car, so you might want to consider the £2xx DE/Edge 2 option, plus a magazine-compatible cheaper backup / loaner (Specna, Lancer Tactical, G36C with an M4 magwell adapter or similar) instead.
  8. I mean, you'd think, but even then it seems that some fans take the Immortal Leader of our Race part a bit too far.
  9. Another vote for polycarbonate. 2mm and above will stop anything that should be being slung at a UK airsoft field by anyone except Kicking Mustang. I bought a sheet of 3mm which is way overkill (or over-stop), so I'd say 2-2.5mm is the sweet spot. You can cut and finish it by hand, but power tools make it easier.
  10. Ditto to that. Unless you: 1) Really know what you want and why or 2) Can really, really trust the tech Then having an airsoft gun "upgraded" can just be an exercise in spending more to get the same, or even less. Most low to mid range guns these days are perfectly decent and usable. Clean the barrel, feed it 0.28g or so, and get the hop dialled in, and you'll be 90% competitive with anyone else out there once you factor in the whims of weather and that we're slinging tiny bits of plastic. Have you played at all yet? Do you have a specific gun in mind that takes your fancy?
  11. Mmm, "it only shoots around 10 - 20 foot" begs for "Bro, do you even AEP?"
  12. My point is that they've being doing this long enough to have figured out that it's buyers who have the problem with reality, not them. It's not like it's even "or nearest offer", it's take-it-or-leave-it, and some folk are taking it. Here's how I read that: "Used £265 gun in unknown condition. [Charlie Brown wah-wah-wah noises]. £700, won't split, buyer must collect".
  13. I'd assume that they've found from experience that optimistic buyers will pay as much for a "totally fucked but might be a simple fix" wall hanger as for a used but notionally working gun. I actually appreciate the honesty in their descriptions - nobody can say they're not being fairly warned.
  14. Do you? It must get pretty expensive binning lenses multiple times a day.
  15. Sure, it makes a lot of sense for sites to pre-book, and it's not harming my local sites at all as they're regularly at capacity. I just wish they'd call it something other than "walk on" is all, it gives me a pain in my pedantry glands.
  16. Or a thin sliver of pencil eraser, that was my quick fix on site.
  17. Ahoy, and welcome back. Nothing's much changed except that everything's more expensive and "walk on" now means pre-book. But 0.7 TM Joules still outranges 1.14 CYMA Joules.
  18. If you're lucky. They do work, and work consistently, but I'd rather miss with a gas blowback than hit with an AEP.
  19. Then I'd go with a Maple Leaf macaron + omega nub (or XT knock-off). https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/hop-up-buckings-nubs Or the tuppeny fix is to use a piece of biro tube as a nub, or just stack some pieces of electrical tape between the bucking and nub.
  20. The power of desperation? Secret rule change. Either way, it could be entirely legit, just don't treat it as differently from any other purchase, irrespective of the riveting tale being spun.
  21. To my simple mind, a BB that so much as touches the barrel once it's been through the hop would emerge with no, or random, backspin. I'd wonder on what evidentiary basis these claims are being made. What I have observed is that adding some hop can increase muzzle energy, so I fully agree with half-hop while bench testing, or ideally with the hop dialled in for the BB weight.
  22. My TAC-41 has never had a BB under 0.43g run through it. Not once. I couldn't even tell you what "fps" it's slinging them at, only that it yeets properly hopped 0.43g-0.46g at 2.2 - 2.3J. It's CURRENT_YEAR, after all, not the Before Time, in the Long-Long Ago.
  23. And at a gross profit margin knocking on 70% (yes, seventy!😞https://finbox.com/LSE:GAW/explorer/gp_margin/ It's a genius strategy, to create a monopoly that they enforce through their tournaments and shops.
  24. "Mates, come on, mates, give it a try with me, it's awesome, mates, it's my forever hobby, ma- bugger it, I'm out."
