Welcome. So it took you 10 years to find us? 😄

Very hard to determine without all the facts 🤔

Welcome Dad and son Everything pretty much said above. I'm just over 50 and my son is 17. He generally runs ahead and I sneak around. (Knee pads are very handy 😉) - First, read a lot of the forum. All the questions have already been asked at some point... - Rent for first 3 games to get UKARA registered. As well as being able to buy in realistic black (RIF) it will allow you to experience the action before investing in a pew. You can chose a long or short style weapon depending on your preference once you get a feel for the games. Even though you haven't mentioned it, Sniper is not advised as a starter. M4 are the most common for their versatility. - My top/down list of manufacturers based on price/performance would be JG, CYMA, SpecnaArms, G&G - A couple of Li-Po 7.4v 1300mAh for each of you will last a day. SkyRC S65 charger (+adapter leads needed) Convert plugs to Deans (T-connectors) or XT30 if you can use a soldering iron. - Check out https://playairsoft.uk/ for sites near you. (Google reviews to check) - As said, have fun. Its not about winning but having awesome firefights 😁

Welcome Have a look here for sites near you: https://playairsoft.uk/map Do lots of reading on the forum.

So it just uses the kinetic energy of the hammer transferred mechanically (with the parts in the shell) to the BB? Hmm, yeah not very efficient.
-
As above, Yep, your dad can buy you a RIF and gift it to you completely legally and you can use it at a game with no issues. (Remember to make sure its not seen in public at all)
-
Welcome That certainly is a big investment but if it makes you happy 😉 Have a look here for sites near you: https://playairsoft.uk/ Since you've got the expensive part you'll just need some eye protection and BBs to get started. (Good boots with ankle support are recommended too) Do some searches and read up on what to expect at a skirmish day then 'just do it' 😁
-
Welcome to you both. Hopefully you can help each other out.

I believe the hop rubber is slightly twisted off centre. You'll have to take out the inner barrel and open the hop unit to re-seat it. Make sure its undamaged and clean off any oils or dirt.

Welcome 🖐 Check out the forum for loads of info and opinions to read. Have a look here for sites near you: UK Airsoft Map — PlayAirsoft

Welcome back to the crazyness. Might be worth getting new Li-Po batteries and charger to breath new life into the old hardware. It would be cheaper and easier to use what you've got. And if you do want to sell any then its important to know if they still function.

Returning player, now with a better budget!
EDcase replied to TacMaster's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Welcome back I think generally the price of hardware has gone down with cheaper brands like CYMA and JingGong (JG) producing decent quality budget RIFs. Probably the biggest change has been moving to Li-Po batteries and intelligent chargers. More power in a smaller package 😁 But with more power comes more responsibility 🙄 Supply is really shite right now though and Brexit has fucked us up 😣 -
Yeah, I have bought from SWIT and it went fine but I imagine if it doesn't go well it could be a hard fight to get a refund. I guess if you pay with paypal you'll be covered. You only have their word that its been upgraded tho. £450 with delivery. Don't know if you'll have to pay duty or VAT.

Also factor in a new trigger box which you will need after a few months using it. WE GBBRs trigger sear is made of shit metal so wears quite quickly. See if you can find a RA-Tech trigger box as its worth getting and drops straight in. (Or get the components separately and fit to existing box)

As you may imagine, this has been asked a few times already. Do a few searches and read everything that comes up. You'll need to spends a bit more than £100 for a decent pew but between £120-150 should be do-able. (Remember to budget an extra £60 at least for eye pro, better batteries and charger, spare mags, BBs etc.) Nothing wrong with stating as a sniper and the WELL shooters are quite good generally. The problem is peoples expectations of how accurate and deadly they are. (hint: You need to tweak a LOT which often involves quite a bit of money to get decent range and accuracy) The JG T3's have a good reputation but haven't tried one myself. Looks like a good option for DMR role. (Again tho: Don't expect it to have much more range out of the box than a standard AEG)
-
Put "UKARA: (number)" in the address section just in case they don't have the option later or forget to put it on.
-
Yeah, most likely bits settling. I've heard that after a few hundred rounds the hop rubber gets properly worn-in and smooths out consistency.
-
From those choices I'd go with the CYMA. Good robust internals and should work well out of the box. Specna are good but the CORE is polymer body. Don't know about King Arms but their L1A1 is highly regarded. (Its out of stock anyway)
-
Tell her they're good for soil drainage 😆 For garden plinking you can use any eye protection. Even the work glasses from a pound shop will be OK. Anything else? : You might want to get an extra magazine or two? Note there are mid capacity (about 120BBs) that must be loaded with a special loader (cheap to buy) and High capacity which hold up to 400BBs loosely and must be wound after a few shots.

BSOD is a sign of hardware problem as that's a base architecture level failure. If you can play ARMA on a laptop then you'll love the performance of Reforger. (Keep in mind there isn't much content yet)
-
ARMA is based on a very old engine which has been updated over the years but was never designed to handle such large scenarios. Its very dependant on CPU for the AI so a well made mission that spawns entities only around you will give good fps. Reforger is the next step to ARMA4 and its looking good.
-
Yes, its early access so has bugs and incomplete features but bloody hell it looks good and plays above 15fps 🤣 Its going to be awesome... (PM me if you want to meet up for a game)
-
Yeah, the years take a toll even if you try to look after yourself. My lower back is a problem but I haven't been able to get it checked yet. As Tackle said, you can still enjoy a game of airsoft at a slower pace from further back and wearing good eyepro will protect the peepers no problem.
