Won’t lie I’ve NEVER seen a night game work , wether it was the ones at the NAE , at my home site wknd’er or other wknd events I’ve been too none of them have worked to some degree(from this is just silly ! all the way up to this is a total clusterfuck !) the ones I’ve been involved with have had every player imaginable from guys wandering around with million candle power torches permanently switched on lighting up the entire site , players with weapon lights blipping off and on as they try to move all tacticool through the undergrowth to guys with ridiculously expensive NVG’s and every thing in between . The main reason I think they never really worked is the same reason I avoid ‘Milsim’ games as well , ‘Discipline’ or more precisely LACK of Discipline . For events like these to work you need people who will follow the rules to the letter , but if a player drops a big wedge of beer tokens on an event and is then told “wait over there we’ll be back for you in 8hrs” there not going to do it and I don’t blame them either ! For any plan heavy event to really work you need the people taking part to be prepared to sit around for hrs on end doing absolutely F*** all for just a few minutes of frantic activity and most just won’t do it . So endeth the sermon ! ? Seen one a good while ago , it was shite . Went off , wouldn’t go off , wouldn’t stop , was loud and bright then quiet and weak . You get what you pay for sprung too mind ?

1st thanks for having the balls to stand up and say who it was , way to many chuck allegations around but won’t back them up with names . Any whoo what you’ve said here convinces me even MORE what a pile of shit you were dropped in through no fault of your own . Now I could go in to a long winded rant about this ‘business man’s’ attitude towards customer experience yada yada but ya know what ? Not worth it , he’s just a c**t simple as that ! ?

This is just a right crock of shit , he chrono’ed at the start and he passed with the ammo and set up he planned to use through out the day but he then gets random chrono’ed later by site owner and told “nope you failed due to joule creep so get off my site !” That’s the marshal running the chrono stations fault and the site owners fault for either not having good enough instructions for the marshal to follow or employing a right Mong of a marshal which is all on the site management and most DEFINITELY not on you or your mate ! Were you even offered any remedy to this seeing as the site created the problem that stopped you and your mate being able to play and so have to leave ? I'm sorry but That’s not just moving the goal posts that’s sticking a stamp on them and shipping them off to the other side of the country with Parcelfarce FFS ! Yes I agree name the site they deserve to be named and shamed .

If it’s just you and your son keeping in touch out on the field yea definitely go for the cheap’n’cheerful PMR option like the kind you can pick up from Argos for a couple of ? but do be prepared for a bit of bleedout from others users when on site with a lot of players all using a limited number of channels . There are many different more ‘professional’ radios available but I do think it’s fair to say for 90% of players the next step up is to go for a Boefeng handset that has a myriad of programmable channels BUT as Tommikka said you should have a licence To run them , I will also say in all the yrs of playing I’ve never actually spoken to anyone who has a licence to use them . Now I am not advocating breaking the law in any way shape or form BUT I’ve also never encountered or heard about anyone being prosecuted for using said handset for Airsofting either . So ultimately it’s up to you what you want out of going with Comm’s and how you want to go about it . ?

Take him to the nearest shop you can find and tell him he can have whatever he wants , once’s he’s finished taking everything to the counter asking him how he’s going to pay for it ? When he looks at you all confused tell him “that’s the reality of life son , sometimes you can’t have what you want unless you can pay for it yourself !” Then elbow him out of the way and buy yourself something REALLY EXPENSIVE ! Me and my best mate and various other friends used to go every year(obviously the pandemic put the mockers on that !) but we never went for the gameplay just for the social side and an excuse to act like kids again and decompress (we both have quite high stress jobs) , your NEVER going to have even a hint of control or mission effective planning with that many civvies ’playing war’ in the woods BUT did it really matter to us ? no not really , the huge numbers and the absolute cluster fuck those numbers caused was one of the very reasons we enjoyed going ! It is funny as hell when you’ve got two or three or even sometimes just one bloke holding up 10/20/30/+ players at a point for literally ages ! And to be honest we just played our own game we never followed the ‘game plan’ (hence we always play ‘others’)we had real satisfaction from spending our time slowly slowly making our way through the undergrowth to get as close as we could to an enemy objective or even their main base to try and pick off players who then act totally bemused when they get hit ! on more than one occasion we were found out not by the skill at arms of the other teams but by them hearing us giggling like a pair of school girls due to the confusion we just caused ! ?‍♂️? it started loosing its appeal for me when they stopped bring the shop to the site , I do fully accept it must have been an absolute nightmare getting it their and set up and yes you can still order on line and they’ll deliver to you on site BUT for me personally and my mate the thing is there are no Airsoft shops even vaguely close to where I live so this used to be my only experience of a shop(and from talking to them it was the same for a lot of other players too)so it certainly was a ‘kid in a candy shop’ for us and we certainly did a lot of impulse buying due to the goods being their in front of me but equally there were a few things I’d wanted but no longer did after seeing them ‘in the flesh’ either . So to finish my ramble all I’d say is if your thinking of going just do it and make your own mind up and don’t rely completely on others ‘opinions’ . Savvy ?

AND both those other shops will happily F*** you off if they can , the first of the two is good as long as there’s no problems with your goods but the minute there’s even a hint of one it’s “sorry pal your on your own !” And the 2nd I once many moons ago bought a pistol from them and when it arrived it was blatantly obvious it was either a display model or a return due to the scuff marks and scratches on it when I contacted them they basically said “ you live on the other side of the country , tuff luck !” . Yes i do BUT unfortunately for them I also used to live in Bournemouth so at the time I frequently traveled down to catch up with friends so not two weeks later I ‘popped in’ to the shop and asked for the shit stain I’d been dealing with by name , you should have seen how fast the colour drained from his face when he found out who the very pissed off looking rugby playing Welshman asking for him was ! ? needless to say the pistol WAS replaced and a few ‘trinkets’ were thrown in as an appeasement .? My take is as they are the ‘biggest’ names in the game there’s a pretty good chance Nigel Noob is going to them when he starts out as he’s not up on who’s who in the world of airsoft retail so they have a steady stream of wide eyed victims to pray upon ? All ofthe ones you listed are more than acceptable just comes down to what you want to pay , if you get either the Double eagle or the combat machine you could sort yourself for mags , batteries , scopes , slings and ammo for less than the price of the Ronin on its own BUT equally as my son has one I can definitely say it feels totally bomb proof and worth the money .?

I’ve got a couple of pairs and over the yrs I’ve seen some call them “cheap’n’cheerful” but me personally I think that’s an unfair description as for the money compared to a lot of the Chinese ‘knock off’ sets I think there far superior and more than adequate for the job .

Rates of fire ok yes you could but how do you mitigate adrenaline ? Normally I do see you as one of the voices of reason but this occasion I do feel your rather digging your heals in for what ever reason as your now trying control the uncontrollable ’freak’ accidents of the game ?

I’d have to disagree after almost loosing my eyes sight due to a blast of full auto to the face at almost point blank range from a gun that had been set to literally 1-2 fps below the 350 limit and was running at a ridiculous high rate(as confirmed by the head marshal so was site legal)that shattered my prescription inserts in to my eyes and only reason I didn’t do permanent damage is due to me being an A&E nurse and being able to STOP myself from reacting as you automatically would do in this situation . I once had to help treat a player who had a a 3inch gash in his cheek that exposed his teeth after he and another player ran in to each other in a corridor and the other chap had a spiky flash hider on his gun which ripped the first guys face open . BUT neither incidents resulted in bans ‘just in case’ it happened again ? You do reach a point where you have to use common sense with an item that ‘could’ cause injury it’s like the master Mike situation a while back in the right hands not a problem , but in the wrong hands the potential for serious injury far outweighed the positive so lots of sites banned them . With the Mike you had a one off reasonably cheap purchase that’s it , with TAG rounds it’s a very expensive starting purchase and as equally expensive to keep using them so you will have the more mature players buying them than the irresponsible ones if only for the fiscal side if nothing else ? ‘But it could happen’ isn’t really a valid reason in my opinion to not allow them .

Err pre-assessment is the WHOLE point of my comment ? when he is using them he asses the area he’s aiming at to minimize the risk factor and is as safety conscious as possible as apposed to just firing them off in all directions with no consideration to other players safety . ok then by the logic of your argument you could say any engagement that doesn’t replicate combat on a Napoleonic battle field where you have two apposing forces stood in an open field firing directly at each other shouldn’t be allowed due to the risk of an unexpected player suddenly appearing in front of you as you fire and the ‘possibility’ you could injure them ?

Problem with TAG rounds is there a brilliant bit of kit UNTIL the human factor gets involved , I’ve only used them once or twice as I’m too much of a tight arse and won’t spend that much on something that goes bang only once so not a problem for me but then you have my mate who’s a fair bit more financially stable than me and absolutely loves them and will use them at every opportunity he has but because he’s ex-forces and was a small arms instructor he can be trusted with them , the way he can sling them down range AND how accurately he can is at times positively scary ! BUT he has the previous training and good sense how to use them properly and safely so he’s no danger , and that’s the giant difference between him and most other players using them , he understands the dangers and can asses wether they can be used safely or not , and if he thinks not then he won’t fire where as a lot will say “f**k it I’ve spent all this money on them I’m using them !” simple as that .
