Reasonably priced lightweight chest rig
Jacob Wright replied to Dan Robinson's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
If you don't mind a used one, you can pick up the PLCE NI chest rigs on eBay from anywhere between £20-40 depending on the condition. They'll comfortably hold 6 magazines, plus ammo and water in the side pouches. No MOLLE to worry about, but good luck finding one that isn't in woodland DPM 😂 -
Thank you for the replies. I should make it clear now that I misconstrued a message sent to me. A meeting is planned for 22nd of June, but this is not the AGM.

A meeting is booked in for 22nd June at 7pm. I hope to be able to share more information following this.

Just what we need 🙄

@Rogerborg I completely agree that more needs to be done to highlight what we are doing, I know the Facebook algorithm doesn't help, but perhaps if we posted more and had more interaction that would help with it. @Colin Allen you do raise an interesting point, if I can get hold of some solid figures then I'll share them with all. I would imagine the percentage to be small, not dissimilar to many Unions. Whilst I agree this forum is an absolute goldmine of information, I can't comment on the Forum vs Union quality of advice.

It's taken me a while to decide whether to reply to this, and if so, what I should say. As Shamal has rightly stated, I am the East of England UKAPU representative. I initially joined as a member, but decided that I would like to further support the community as a regional representative. During my interview for the position I too expressed reservations with regard to what the union provide - as others have pointed out, the social media pages are not frequently updated and there is little 'evidence'. All representatives are volunteers, and in any case, I believe that the Press Officer position is vacant. There is often assistance offered to player-members which unfortunately goes unreported due to this. This has involved helping with customs and import of RIFs, where players experienced issues - and similarly assisted players in Northern Ireland where I believe there have been further issues with customs. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Union were approached by a number of game organisers/site owners to gauge the legality of running games during the lift of restriction levels. The Union provided this guidance, but it was highlighted that if Airsoft was registered as a sport (like paintball is), then we potentially could have returned sooner. However, in order to register as a sport we would require a national governing body. The membership was 'sold' to me as more of an insurance scheme; in case I should ever need assistance, but also to support the ongoing efforts of the Union to provide some kind of national governing body - which was well supported by representatives, members, non-members and site owners when discussed with them. Whilst it was before my time, I believe the references to 'proposed bans' etc relate to the VCRA 2007 bill. @Cannonfodder if you would like I will try to find more information relating to this. Unfortunately, our Chairman has suffered from issues with his personal circumstances lately, and this has led to our AGM not happening as early in the year as perhaps would be expected. Rest assured, I am actively pursuing this and hope it will be able to go ahead soon. With this in mind, I cannot comment on the plans going forward for the annual members skirmish or attendance at NAE. In the past I have attempted to arrange a members only game, but then struggled to find a site to host it at. It is on my list of things to arrange, and as soon as I have news I will share it. I do recognise that perhaps the communications from the Union have not been as good as would be expected, and for that please accept my apology. @Rogerborg - are you referring to the Operation Stigma II post on Facebook from May 2022 as this is all I can find? @RebelScum if you would like, please send me a message and I will do my best to chase up your patch - as it is of course not right that you have yet to receive it. Finally, I would like to address suggestions that members of the Union are in it to 'make a name' for themselves, or as an 'ego boost'. I appreciate this is personal opinion, but when engaging with other representatives I have not experienced this. I see the other representatives as individuals with only the interests of the players and the sport at heart. My inbox is always open, and I am always more than happy to engage with any player, whether they are a member or not. I've done my best to address what people have said, and am happy to discuss anything. - Jacob

Great bits of kit, I use their patrol bag for work and I’ve been eyeing up one of these to potentially replace my Peli rifle case - unfortunately I think this is a bit too big 😂 -

Up for sale is an ASG 'Armalite' branded M15 Ranger AEG. I've owned from new since 2018, and was my original rifle when returning to the hobby. A reluctant sale, but I need to stop hoarding things 'just in case I ever need it' 😂 This rifle has been reliable and accurate throughout my ownership. Completely stock internally and out. Paint job was done by me and has worn well. Would be an ideal back-up or first rifle for somebody. Has a SOPMOD stock which easily holds split LIPO packs, full length rail on the front end which can detach to take a grenade launcher (not included). Is wired to a mini-Tamiya connection. Will come with 2x Nuprol LIPOs, flip-up iron sights and 2x 140 round metal mid-cap magazines. Not looking to make any money on this one, open to sensible offers. Will post at the buyers expense but would rather not if you can collect. Will not sell without a valid defence being present.£85

From the classifieds the going rate has been anywhere from £350-£400 with 1 magazine, when you add in the suppressor and other magazines maybe £500 all in as the maximum price?
-
Completely understandable - when I was looking for a tech I spoke to a lot of mates to see who they'd used, and asked a few techs directly to gauge interest in the work I wanted doing.
-
It's a Surefire Redi-Mag. Allows you to hold a spare magazine on the rifle next to the to the one in the magazine well. Saves having to draw a spare from a pouch, and on some AEGs they double up as battery containers.

Airsoft Wizard in Immingham. Contact via IG. Let me know he had quite a bit of work on, but I wasn't in a rush so didn't bother me. Top quality work, did exactly what I asked for, kept in contact and very reasonably priced. Will definitely use again.

Finally got my M4 back from the tech, really happy with it! Can't decide whether to style it on a more recent or older L119A1. I'm aware there are a number of inaccuracies with it currently, have a carry handle on order and will be chopping the bayonet lug at some point.

For sale I have 6x ASG M4 Midcap magazines. I believe they hold 140 BB's. The magazines are metal, 4x are black, 2x are grey. Most have signs of wear, and have been used by myself. Have numbers in paint marker on the base. They feed without issue in Classic Army/ASG branded M4's. £5 for each magazine, +£1.50 to cover postage and fees. If you want all of them message me and we can make a deal.£5

Which kind of antenna is it? Have you got a link? Thats a shame ref the lack of accessories, I’ve bought one to trial so will give it a go and see how we get on.

My boots are dried and awaiting cleaning.. trousers went straight in the wash and are clean now!!

Great day at Rifts inaugural battlesim at The Ridge yesterday. Started off with my set of webbing, didn’t get on with it when trying to change magazines quickly or access things from the rear pouches. Changed over to the Arktis chest rig, decided not to run my belt as there wasn’t really any requirement for a sidearm or extra magazines.

Thanks Tommikka, some good points. I've also had to relay in the past due to terrain, and you're right that will probably be the workaround. My issue with using phones is the lack of being able to use them whilst on the move, unlike radios where you can use the PTT in one hand and rifle in another. However, if not moving then WhatsApp etc are a nice quick and easy solution. Haha it sounds like he'd have been best placed to do a comms check beforehand! We check ours are all working in the setup area before game on to ensure those kind of things don't happen!

I know it's in the Gunman rules for their filmsim events, and 99.9% sure I've heard it on their briefs. "Acceptable weapon types - DMR weapons have longer barrels, magnified optics and are usually real world calibers such as 7.62mm. It is not an m4 carbine with a heavier spring in."
-
Thanks Hatchet! Ahhh okay, is the woodland you used them in fairly flat or quite hilly? If the wattage ratings are fictitious anyway then I guess it potentially wouldn't make much difference! Waterproofing isn't a massive concern of mine - more that it was one of the only other advantages I could see over the 5's. Noted with regard to the accessories socket, half of the ones I've got are knackered now anyway so replacement isn't too much of a big deal. I may just pick one up and see how we get on with it 👍
