Just picked up a bo chiappa rhino for rather less than I was expecting to pay. Not going to be here for a couple of weeks. I might do a write up review of it when it arrives if anyone is interested. Just got the plain black version as I didnt feel like paying an extra £60 for a silver special edition paintjob.

Talked about it enough for now on other threads, but the DP-28 is coming along. So far a new, stronger buttpad locking mount has been completed, the upper and lower mag adapters have been completed, the feed ramp has been completed, and the stopping block has been completed (maybe. Had some issues with BBs getting in the way of the bullet spokes in the mag, but theres bigger issues still to sort before I make improvements). However BBs are still slipping through somehow. I suppose next is to recreate my follower in CAD as opposed to using the current handmade one. Its the only place where I can see bbs slipping through into the back of them mag with the new follower. In terms of things I might still do, I would like to drill into the upper and mount a pic rail for optics. Unfortunately when loaded the pan mag blocks the irons. Now, as this was always kind of meant to be used in conjunction with a Maska-1 helmet, ADSing isnt really an option so its not a huge deal. But if I used it without the helmet it'd be nice to have optics. I could additionally/instead create a second set of vertical irons like the real DP-28 has, and do away with the canted irons of the ZB30. Also, I was originally planning to make a forward locking block for the pan mag to sit on. I dont need to do that as the mag adapter is plenty solid enough to hold even a full mag in place, but it could help a bit with stability. Ill have to field test it first, which cant happen until after the mag issues are sorted.

I actually wasn't able to find the surefire earlier, I assume someone had bought it as it was Buy It Now as opposed to another auction, unfortunately! His account is still active though but at least we saved someone 🤣

Thank feck for that, I'd made up my mind that if the auction went on to the end I was gonna bid £500 in the last ten seconds & then hit him with the most evil feedback before he could cancel my bid lol 😈
Did his account get suspended, as I can't find the sure fire here had for sale (didn't put it on my watch list duh 🤓)

    Big oofs, that's awful.

I really wish eBay allowed contacting bidders, just for circumstances like this where there's no way to warn them that they're about to get ripped off.

I know, "privacy", but since they won't do a damn thing about counterfeits themselves, it's a piss poor way to protect customers.

I've never done it before, but I'm half tempted to register a sock account and bid a crazy amount just to try to protect these victims.

I have messaged him (a few hours ago, actually) & no response thus far. Also reported the listing with Rocketdogbert, so hopefully ebay take notice. He is also selling what he describes as a "genuine Surefire" in another listing for £45, which I am doubting

I sent mine at about 7, so he has most definitely seen it then. Seems like he is trying to get something for nothing & trying to make it seem like it is real because he used it on a .22... Not the most honourable thing to do!

Withdrawn bid, lucky escape.  I've reported it to eBay for all the good that will do.

Back in the day, eBay used to let you message other bidders directly. I'd take great pleasure in sending winning muppets links to new items that cost less than what they'd just bid on a used one.  Ah, good times, good times.  I can see why eBay stopped allowing that.

Exact same serial number as the regular clones. Some poor bugger is about to pay a silly amount for a clone

Edit: the listing just went from 6 bids at £102 to 1 bid at £85

Latest update on the TM MTR16
Still waiting for my 7" handguard and barrel, suppressor & a couple other bits to arrive, but @Wo1f has supplied me with this Dytac Geissele 9.5" one in the meantime (as well as a buffer tube, thank you 😁)
SBA3 clone seems solid enough to hold a sling until my PTS sling plate arrives.
Still gotta change the optic but this is the only one I have for now
    Progress!

    Hi Guys,

Myself and my good friend from over the pond have been working on  some good quality affordable ammo for a long time now and I'm looking for people that attend airsoft events on a regular basis to test my .30g bb's.

Obviously the bb's will be free and all I request in return is some constructive feedback. I have used this ammo for a longtime now and I am very happy with the quality and the performance. I have never had any issues with the bb's breaking inside my gun or causing any damage and rest assured I have some expensive guns.

If you would like to participate please send me a message and I will arrange to have some bb's posted to you.

    Thanks in advance!

    Adam

Parcel Force are the only courier I can find that even comes close to intimating that they might take airsoft guns. Just whatever you do, don't list them as "imitation" or "toy gnu".

    https://www.parcelforce.com/help-and-advice/sending/prohibitions-and-restrictions

"Arms and Ammunition All firearms, other than low-powered air weapons sent within the UK (air rifles, air guns and air pistols), including imitations and antiques; paint-ball or toy guns; taser guns; components of firearms and all other items similar to, or resembling, the foregoing are prohibited.

Arms and Ammunition - low powered air weapons Low-powered air weapons (air rifles, air guns and air pistols), together with lead pellets and other airgun and airsoft projectiles, can be sent but are subject to the following conditions:
These items must be sent on an express48 service only These items must be sent via the Post Office only, and presented at the counter Enhanced compensation cover is not available"

And that's the best I can find.  Absolutely bizarre that they will take firearms-class air weapons, but (on a strict reading) not airsoft IFs.

So I'd suggest listing your parcel exactly as they say, e.g. "low powered air weapon" / "air gun", not as "airsoft", "imitation", "replica" or similar.  Either way, the maximum compensation you can claim on express48 is £100.

That's if you're being honest. If you were to, for example, list it as "sporting goods" then you could pay for extra cover in the event that they lose it, or send it expressAM and get £200 cover.

And if they've lost it, how are they going to know that it was actually an airsoft gun?

On UPS, they have a blanket prohibition on "firearms", and yes, I know airsoft guns are explicitly not firearms, but do you think they know that?  What they do say is that if they reckon the item is prohibited, then you agree to pay them another £120, and that's not £120 to have your assault-style-toy either delivered or returned, it's £120 just because.

MILITATED got a reaction from Nick G in Buying My First GBB Rifle
My first gun was an AEG & sold it promptly to buy a GBB. Many years have since gone by and have gone through many GBBs.

    COST & WEIGHT
If you are considering that route, please keep in mind that the magazines can be very expensive (~£50 each), as well as weighty. Due to the low capacity, you will probably want about 4 - 6, depending how trigger happy you are. The price & weight definitely add up from the mags alone. Personally, I go for second hand packages that already come with mags for a greatly discounted price vs new, but buying second hand has it's cons.

    MAINTAINENCE
Maintaining a GBB is not too hard - I would prefer to maintain a GBB as opposed to an AEG. As mentioned above, YouTube is your best friend. Keep the metal on metal contact areas oiled/greased & clean.

    BRANDS
I heavily recommend sticking to TM & GHK. If on a budget, pick up the GHK G5. Otherwise, a TM MWS/MTR16 or a GHK M4 will do you good. Wouldn't recommend the GHK AK as their hop unit seems to have issues more often than not. There are other options available if you aren't feeling the M4, such as the GHK AUG or TM Type 89. TM & GHKs are built brilliantly which is often reflective of their price.
You will find other expensive GBBs from companies such as VFC - I recommend steering clear of them. Their price comes from their incredible externals and licensing, not their durability or performance (hell, my 416a5 doesn't even work & hasn't even seen a skirmish!).
WE Tech is budget friendly & they have a wide variety, but they are made of cheese, both inside and out. You will be on MilspecSolutions or KYAirsoft shopping for parts, which will eventually add up. I have owned many WEs due to their selection, but ends the same way.
There are many other brands offering GBBs, but again, I recommend TM or GHK.

    GAS
Green gas is expensive, I recommend buying regular propane & keeping the gun & mags oiled.

    ALTERNATIVES
TM & KWA offer recoil AEGs. The recoil isn't anything to write home about but it is a good compromise. Steer very clear of the GBLS DAS GDR15! Very cool concept, but they seem to spend more time with a tech trying to get them to work than they do with their owner, which is ridiculous considering the cost.

    TL;DR
    Mags are expensive & heavy.
Maintaining them isn't too hard, YouTube helps.
    Stick to TM or GHK.
