  1. Welcome . You meet fellow airsofters by going to airsoft sites and playing. Do not worry about turning up alone, most of us start out that way, and you will soon get talking to other players. We are a fairly friendly bunch and do like taliking about guns, kit, (some especially about technical stuff) and our experiences. Through this forum I have met up with several airsofters and played at different sites. So you could say that this forum is a place for lonely airsofters to meet. You do not need to be part of a team. Best bit of advice - just choose a site, rent some kit, and go play. See how you like it; I wish that I had gone sooner as it is good fun. In the meantime read the sticky posts which contain lots of very useful information, use the search function, and ask questions.
  2. The imax B6 charger is very good, buy a genuine one. I have one myself and have not experienced any issues with it. I like the fact that it balances the battery cells and also discharges the battery for storage. The audible alarm when battery is charged is loud enough to get your attention.
  3. Yes it in an old quarry site to the east, off the Roman Road. It is being slowly redeveloped but hopefully still had a few years of playing available. Worth a visit.
  4. I do not know whether such a list exists but it would be useful to have one for all counties. Have you looked at this map of sites? A good starting point: http://www.airsoftmap.co.uk/ I can recommend the UCAP Sandpit, Dartford (next to the Bluewater shopping centre) which is a massive site. http://ucap.co.uk/ucap-airsoft-venues/ucap-sandpit-venue/
  5. Have you been there, and if so would be worth a review [Edit: I do not do facebook so cannot see details from the link] Although I did note from the website that Swindon Airsoft, Badlands allows: Participant minimum age is 10 years old to play, accompanied by parent, guardian or nominated adult.
  6. There is a new site in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, so not too far away from you. I have not played there myself yet or seen any reviews of the site but is an option. http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/30024-new-site-in-wiltshire-abingdon/?hl=abingdon
  7. Have you tried The Mall? Worth considering going to Reading, only just south of Oxfordshire.
  8. H&K is Heckler & Koch, the German company behind the real G36. The brand is the maker of the airsoft gun, i.e. G&G, Tokyo Marui, SRC, Umarex, Well, etc, which could be stamped/painted on the body.
  9. Website shows it is offering paintball, laser tag, arrow tag and archery.
  10. No it was writing figuratively. I always thought that for thousands of years soldiers have been wearing helmets for protection and as part of their uniform. Now if we want to talk about tit like headwear that would be people in cars wearing babseball hats, the sign of a low IQ driver
  11. Welcome You could look at the new UCAP site - The Wing - indoor CQB based inside the former HMP Shepton Mallet, Somerset. http://ucap.co.uk/ucap-airsoft-venues/ucap-wing/ Edit: I have not yet been there but plan on going this Spring/Summer.
  12. Welcome to the forum You will find lots of useful information and advice here, as well as witty banter and threads going off topic. Krytac guns are becoming a popular choice, and there are some close to your budget. Not recommending these retailers in particular, just to used illustrate the Krytac range (not M4 per se but similar in style) http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/search.asp?q=krytac&Search=Search and http://www.landwarriorairsoft.com/krytac-m175#page2:infscr4369 I am sure there are some owners here who can recommend their Krytac guns.
  13. Power to the People! The Forum Feedback sub forum does read "Tell us what you think of AF-UK! Is there anything missing?" so it is a place to put forward ideas, whether popular or not. I raised the question late last year, in November, about having a shorter minimum character length to make searching easier. Radical I know. Also I do think it would be useful for HPA to have its own sub forum where all technical advice could reside even though I do not have any guns fitted for HPA.
  14. Could be due to using Internet Explorer, I had the same issue of not being able to quote, so installed Google Chrome and now use that to access this forum with all the functionality.
  15. Let's not forget the Black Death which arrived in Europe in the mid 14th century. Known as the plague, this was the pandemic of Yersina pestis that killed about 30% of the European population and 50% of china. Those that survived were able to pass on antibodies down the generations which meant the small outbreak of 1665 was less effective.
  16. Ebola? I would count that as a plague, so am avoiding West africa.
  17. Latest UK Tactical discount is for 25% off MultiCam plate carriers until midnight Wed 16 March - discount code MCARM25‏ http://www.uktactical.com/c-165-elite-ops-armourrigs-mulcam.aspx
  18. If you have not had a chance to read the sticky threads in the New Players & Arrivals section (and a place to say hello) then would highly recommend checking them out because they will really help you. This link is for playing on a tight budget http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/12854-new-player-guides-info/ And you may need to increase your budget a little.
  19. I have no experience of that particular brand. I bought a Viper one because it is one of the few low cost holsters that fit my larger sized pistol. If you have more time to shop around and wait for delivery then there are no doubt better options but if cost and time are important then get it. Once you have used it for a few games you will see whether the quality and style is good enough for your needs or whether you want a replacement / a different style (i.e.belt/hip holster).
  20. Anything that means getting up before 0900 hrs at the weekend is too early. However, if I want to go to an event then I just make the effort to get up early and go. Not being relient on public transport makes this possible. Advantage of driving is that I can go door to door and carry as much kit as I like. The downside is feeling knackered on the drive home and not being able to have a nap unlike those using a train. I accept an early start time for a full days gameplay, I suppose sites could have variable timings based on the season and available daylight if playing outdoors.
  21. Yes, I should have expanded the abbreviation CQB to Close Quarter Battle. Which is what an indoor site would provide.
  22. Maybe a few relevant details would help. Where are you planning opening this site? Is this arena going to be an indoor venue or open air? CQB? Regarding Question 4- How far would you travel to play airsoft? Is this one way or return trip? I have no sites under 20 miles, for a good one I will do 250 mile round trip. Regarding Question 6 - How much are you typically willing to pay for 120 minutes of airsoft? Answer nothing, unless I can get actual gameplay of 3+ hours in an evening or 6+ hours for a day then I am not interested in travelling to a site. Regarding Question 8 - Would you consider using airsoft for a team building or party experience? Are you including a private game day/night for airsofters to have a forum meeting? If you are serious about a opening a new site, then it would be worth reading this thread about market research and forum views: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/29709-hertfordshire-potential-new-site-market-research/?hl=hertfordshire And this thread about Whitechapel: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/29856-blitz-cqb-whitechapel-airbourne-airsoft/page-3?hl=heart#entry230894
  23. But that company is in Hong Kong, so probably not fast enough delivery to the UK for the OP.
  24. Personally I would not buy anything from JBBG, read some of the reviews/opinions on the forum. You would be better looking at Military 1st website http://www.military1st.co.uk/combat-gear-holsters/ I have two adjustable Viper holsters for my Mk23 pistol, and they are fine for the money and should last you until you want to replace it. I also have a lanyard attached to my belt so I do not lose the pistol.
