Sacarathe reacted to Esoterick in DMR. why???
After chatting to a tech in the local shop I got really excited about him setting up a really nice 450 FPS SR-25 for me. Then when I got home and had a look around some sites in the south they all seemed to be either 400 or 425 FPS limits on DMRs with a 20+ metre MED or it was just standard 350 FPS unless it was a BASR.

I was actually meaning to setup a thread with basically the same question as Richie. Surely unless you can use a gun with a significantly higher muzzle velocity you may as well just use a decently setup AEG or GBBR that fires at/under 350 FPS?

I have printed flash hiders with 14 ccw threads on my prusa i3. The only complication is that you have to adjust to your printer and slicer.

What do you need exactly? Probably I can help.

Not a great picture, but a big improvement. Not sure why I left the flash hider there.

Get a couple of decent cloths. Isopropyl alcohol for cleaning stubborn stuff and clean the barrel once every 3 months. This is a very well documented question though and is a good example of why you should use the search before asking as it's asked every month or so. You'll get much quicker and better answers if you look by yourself first, then fill in the gaps later through asking.

http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/28054-cleaning-with-isopropyl-alcohol-vs-silicone/ covers everything in depth. As above though:
Clean with isopropyl alcohol (kitchen towel is just as good as buying the pre-packaged alcohol wipes, but a lot cheaper) Use a cleaning rod Try not to get too close to the bucking (though you may want to do one run over it just to remove any lube that's made its way down your barrel from the gearbox (AEG) or gas in the magazine (GBB) Finish up with a swab of silicone to keep the barrel slick and to make BB fragments not stick as easily to the inside of the barrel Do not get lube on your bucking - best practice is to make markings on your cleaning rod so that you know exactly where to stop
I guess to answer your question: 1lt of isopropyl alcohol (around £6-8 on eBay) or a pack of alcohol cleaning wipes, some kitchen towel, cleaning/unjamming rod for barrels. For everything else a couple of rags and a couple of lint-free cloths too. Lube wise I use silicone or Frog Lube - some recommend just silicone, some recommend nothing and some recommend other branded stuff. There's no particular consensus on this but don't buy something with loads of additives as it'll rot the seals in your gun (less of an issue with AEGs, but more of an issue with GBBs).

If you are selling a secondhand RIF to a stranger, how do you check their UKARA status ?
I appreciate they can give you their UKARA number but unless youre a retailer, how do you verify its current ?

If you are looking for a good community, then go to airsoft events and check the forums. But. Avoid. Airsofters. On. Facebook.
Welcome, have fun. You certainly will.

I think it is perfectly fine the way it all is.....

Ireland - no ukara required - quite a bit of Europe don't need checks
Australia - no airsoft at all
Germany - lower and stricter guidelines
US - sod it buy a firearm at Walmart in some states like Texas but Wine has to be bought in liquor store or seperate liquor dept ???

Yup - think UK's not doing too bad I think

I'd never considered half days. Well done.

But, getting to TWA certainly costs more than Bunker 51, even if you live on their doorsteps.

£75 for 3 half day hire at twa.

Think half day without hire is £15? So if you buy a twotone that can be sold at say £20 loss, 20 + 15 * 3 = £65

It's good for wolf armouries hire purchase, but for anything else, avoid it big time; overcrowded smelly mess. I personally think buying a two-tone is still a better choice.

Other than other hire-purchase schemes I know of no other way to get a UKARA number for only £78.

With all the inferences you've chosen to include, not sure he's the only idiot; you've called him an idiot after including at least two "facts" which you've 'made up'. For shame.

I agree, ultimately the fault is with the guns owner if the person that picked up the gun was not legally an adult.

The one on amazon has clearly been 'shopped badly.

Looking for a site that runs on a Saturday. Currently struggling to find anything near London apart from Bunker...which I have vowed never to go to again actually.

The incompatability thing isn't really an issue though, unless you're trying to waste your money:

    1. Go in store and actually look at the product
    or
    2. Use the 14 day online sales return that you MUST provide as a retailer.

The closest Ive come to any joined up thinking is Airsoft World who do put some notes on their products, to guide, which at least shows some level of thought. Mind you, I did buy a short grenade launcher from them, only to find it didnt allow TAG rounds to load and I had to get the long one.

I told AW about this so they could put a warning note on to save people making the same mistake but they havent, which is silly especially when they are TAG distributors.

Ive come to the conclusion that a lot of the airsoft industry is still developing from a hobbyist make and mend stage and has a lot of growing up to do.

A lot of the things Ive mentioned dont cost anything in real terms but require a little thought and care. If a retailer sells a x4 flip down magnifier and a range of EoTech clone holographic sights, how hard is it to put a note on the magn to say this will line up with product X, Y and Z. I have to believe that suppliers dont care enough because they are already selling.

It just needs an entrepreneur to sweep the board and differentiate themselves.

When you buy online, you lose certain abilities to visually check stuff and interact with a knowledgeable sales person and although You Tube reviews are often useful, I dont think UK retailers of parts and accessories do enough. Fair enough on a £10 item, but one supplier is selling a £175 optic with nothing more than some words copied off the makers website. I would expect a bit more input otherwise I might as well buy it in Hong Kong and take a risk at less £££s. I wouldnt mind but the UK trade complain that players buying abroad are killing the UK retail. If they dont use their position to advantage, what do they expect ?
