My idea is that of you could convert an RIF to fire pointy objects, like a bullet shape with a sharp end, then you could end up with something that could potentially do serious harm
-
I don't fancy having RIFs defined as toys, that would mean any numpty could get their hands on them and it only takes one deranged lunatic to try to rob a bank with one to ruin it for everyone else. I've been thinking today about a definition that might help define airsoft guns as non lethal. My idea was that an airsoft gun cannot be readily converted to fire anything other than spherical bbs. But after thinking about it, I don't think that's true. Converting an AEG would require you to remove the hop bucking, change the feed tube of the hop chamber to hold a bullet shaped missile straight, and a small rubber o ring to hold the next one straight before the nozzle loaded it to where the hop used to be. The magazines would be tricky but not impossible if you had some tools and time. A gas gun on the other hand would not be as difficult to sort the feeding, as the magazine would already hold a little bullet shaped missile straight, the only real problem to overcome is holding the missile in The firing chamber after loading it, nothing another tough o ring won't fix. Thoughts?

The 'What have you just bought' Thread

So it's a full auto, magazine fed grenade launcher? I need this is my life -
And you're perfectly correct. It's a game at the end of the day, but I don't fancy taking a burst at close range even from a pistol

I do hope that's the gbbr version... -
I don't personally see the merit of a full auto pistol. If it's your sidearm, then you're probably using it in close quarters or in buildings, where full auto isn't needed or wanted (at my local site, you aren't even allowed to use full auto I'm buildings), and if it's your primary you either need to be very conservative to make your ammo last through a game or be made of magazines
-
Whose side are you on? Fair call though, although I've never seen any bbs designed to shatter. Would they actually do harm though? Remember that the act of shattering uses energy from the projectile to break apart, so with the limited energy given by an airsoft bb there would probably be no energy left to do any damage. Especially now that the bits of bb are even smaller and lighter now

They seem to acknowledge the fact that the 1 joule rule is flawed when it comes to airsoft, and even points out that airsoft currently has its own exemption within the law, hence the consultation question: "2.63 If the threshold of lethality was set at 1 joule should there be a specific exemption for the airsoft trade, similar to that already contained within the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006?" I plan to respond, and poi t out that airsoft should retain its exemption, or perhaps adopt the higher joule limit in RIFs which my nature of their hop up, loading mechanism or magazines cannot be loaded with any missile other than spherical pellets, rendering the earlier observation about sharp projectiles null

Can you launch a smoke grenade from a M203?
TheGrover replied to iBrowniee x's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I agree that it's stupid and dangerous, and that there's no harm throwing it, but firing it across a field is way more fun. That said, I'd really hate to take a smoke grenade to the head if some numpty decided to use his 203 to lob one towards some people, even if I was wearing my lid Just one more illustration of why we can't have nice things because of the threat of idiots causing harm. -
my G&P Aimpoint replica hasnt let me down yet, or if you're feeling flush, a UTG Leaper is crystal clear and almost as good as real-steel if you do spend a bit of money on a sight, a generic polycarb sight protector is well worth a tenner.

http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/26767-the-geeky-science-behind-your-hop-effect/ a very similar thread of my own you're not alone my nerdy bretheren

My 150 rd pts epms worked a dream in my ics sa80, but not in my tr15. They were built really well but just not compatible
-
i dont know for certain, but my PTS EPMs dont feed properly in my TR15, it starts off okay but after an hour or so it degrades until it only feeds every third BB. its amazingly consistent in that it gives two dry fires and then one normal shot... very strange indeed
-
happy to hear it, its always good fun after tinkering and fixing a magazine thats been pissing you off for the last couple of skirmishes. If only gearboxes were as easy as GBB parts
-
Just make sure to test them before trusting your eyes to them, cheap eye pro can sometimes be made to just reach en166 f which alone isn't sufficient for airsoft
-
I went to vision express for my first contacts trial a few years ago (in having another trial now solely for airsoft ) and couldn't fault them one bit.
-
What's the strength of your prescription? I have a plus 6 and a plus 3 with a significant astigmatism and contacts worked pretty good for me. I'm actually having a second trial this weekend
-
It was the same for me. And my eyes are so bad laser eye surgery is out of the question. But I can Have contacts. Might as well ask the question

You can argue that the vcra is a lar restricting airsoft, but I don't think it's particularly harsh or lenient. Perhaps there could be a formal intergration of UKARA, or a more closely managed alternative, but I don't see a problem with the system we have now, except that it only takes two months and a hundred quids worth of membership and skirmishes to let any nutter get their hands on something that could be used to facilitate violent crime like carjacking or robbery
-
Yes. En 166 b is plenty for airsoft, it should easily take a point blank 500fps shot. Though I would always do a couple of test shots to check, since your eyesight it your single most valuable sense.
-
Sounds like the copper was just trying to stay on the safe side. In legislation, an airsoft gun (that isn't modified to be crazy powerful) isn't a firearm. The easy way to test this is to shoot someone. If they could potentially be killed or suffer life changing injuries as a result, then it's a firearm. If they just swear at you and shoot you back, then they are a real airsofter and you're just pratting about with toy guns

I use that very torch. Plenty bright enough to blind enemies when you're in the dark. It might also be worth getting a little picket torch. I use a 5.11 l1 thingy which has a strobe as well, easy to hold round a corner and look to see if any bbs come your way while you're safely in cover. But whatever you buy, make sure it runs on 123A betteries coz those little bastards make powerful torches
-
Is it? I see a Stanley vice... A Hilti thingy-majig... Does it have something to do with b&q?
-
What am I looking at? A chrono setup?

The little pistol style one that came with my g5 was the best by far, not that I've tried many
