As a starter for 10 points, all made up from gear i already had. 1. Crafted Novvi cape in everglade. 2. Cheap micro chest rig in ATACS-FG 3. Walther P99 with suppressor 4. KJW Ruger Mk1 cabine with a 2-7x32 EDIT: the suppressor on the MK1 is made from a pool cue extension handle, 3D printed baffles, foam inserts and an aluminium over tube. The actual suppression is only about half of the tube. Currently set up for 5 KJW mags (4+1) and the same for the P99. Primary can be swapped out for M4 based mags for AEG DMR if required. Ruger is currently doing circa 475fps so a good starting point in terms of power. Garden isn't long enough to dial in hop for max range test, so that'll have to wait. Also got an option for carrying Ares Stryker mags so I can steal my sons boltie if required. I had a WE M14 with 7 mags on a belt kit. Weighed a frigging tonne but when I'd fine tuned it, it sent Madbull .36 for miles. Apart from the weight, cost and inconvenience of 20 round mags in such a beast, I loved it.5 points -

I'm the opposite to you two; I would've bought this specifically to have a takedown version, but that's just me as a bit of a collector. For actual usage, the regular m700s are good and the takedown models tend to have loads of issues, so you both have the right ideas there. I have... essentially 5 m700s at this point, and not one of them is a takedown version 🤣3 points -

It's probably happened on a forum at some point with someone else. I'm speaking from my own experience with a friend getting into airsoft and after getting his UKARA defence signed off. The TLDR of it is that he asked for advice on where to get a specific RIF for around £300. I gave advice but he insisted he knew better and ignored it only for it to bite him square in the arse. I gave a few options, suggesting one that was local albeit 10% more expensive but if something was wrong, he had the luxury of being able to travel less than an hour and return it in person and not be fobbed off on the phone/over email or worry about posting it and and being damaged in transit. He went for the cheaper option, which was much further away but he rather smugly proclaimed himself to be a "shrewd shopper" and accused me of bias, favouring the local option as I had bought from that retailer it in the past. Out of the box, he said it didn't shoot straight as his shots went left of the target past 20m or so, so I suggested he first clean the inner barrel. Nope, he knew better and would push ahead. I suggested he may have to re-seat his hop but warned it may invalidate his warranty. He insisted on going on and if he had any more trouble, he'd return it and explain the fault. We went on and played a skirmish where he said his gun jammed every so often then Sod's law happened as he dropped his gun on concrete and caused significant cosmetic damage. He thought to return it and I said there was a cat's chance in Hell that the retailer would accept it that condition with the magwell being cracked and the handguard having a dent and could deem the fall to have caused the fault he reported. He went on to check the return policy and not only was I right about accidental damage invalidating a return for a fault, he had left it too late after purchase anyway. I haven't been a total and utter bastard yet as I haven't said "I told you so" or that he wasn't as shrewd a shopper as he thought because he didn't consider the post-sale experience too. 😅3 points -

Wow, you've given this a lot of thought. My suggestion for a fun little impression would be to wear a kilt (with a placard as a sporran) with DPM top. There's a player/marshall at POW that often wears a kilt & TBH the bugger suits it, and if it's good enough for the trenches in WW1 it's good enough for a gameday.3 points -

Just being out in the Rain isn't going to damage your AEGs, just keep the barrel pointed downwards so no rain gets inside, and make sure to dry it off at the end of the day.3 points

Haha, I've heard a lot about these both good and bad, but I do love a teching challenge. I may see if I can build it as a non-Takedown version but well see. I'm still stripping it down to clean and grease it. So much gunk, metal shavings, and dirt, but hey that's what I expected tbf. Bargain price if I get it running well. A few steel aftermarket parts in there as well, including most of the bolt.2 points -
Brilliant, thanks guys. I shall follow your advice. I always keep them all inside when not in use and I can put a portable dehumidifier in the room overnight to remove any excess moisture. I can't be the only one with a spare bedroom named "the gun room".. 😄2 points

Short of submerging it in water you’ll be fine. You’ll have given up with the weather long before your gun does. As said, just make sure you dry it thoroughly when you get home.2 points -

ButcherBill and one other reacted to Tackle for a topic
Hey Loki, I think there's a few of us on here experiencing similar issues, well done for not letting it get the better of you. I get your reasons for mag compatability etc, between rifle & pistol, but cant help but think that the benefits of the lighter carbine will be offset by the weight of the numerous gas mags you'll need to carry, especially if you want any kind of reasonable ammo capacity ?. Obviously a dmr role puts you midway between assaulter & sniper, bit more limited on fps, & probable range, than a fully set up sniper. Why not consider something like an m14 socom, light & not the full length rifle, but excellent range, especially if you can get it to the dmr limits (& ive heard good things about players insulating inside the body for further sound reduction), aeg so good all year round, & technically you'd probably get away with just one mag if you run a hi-cap, meaning you can slim down your load carrying kit to the bare essentials, & a well set up nbb mk23 or Nov equivalent & 2 or 3 mags should cover your sneaky sidearm needs. Obviously im not trying to teach you to suck eggs lol, you've been at it at least 5-6 years longer than me, but being equally broken means ive had to drastically rethink what i use. Worth considering ?2 points -

Whilst I understand how dodgy the question sounds, I promise I'm not an up and coming road man spouting to anybody who will listen to give me their phone or I'll checks notes "chef mans up"??? I'm sure we've all seen the rubber knives that look like this: However I'm wondering if there's any better versions that are more "authentic" that are still airsoft safe? Something like the above. I have seen the "Cold Steel" ones but I'm not sure if they're airsoft safe as to my knowledge they have rods through the blade? It's more just for show than anything, however whilst my local is fine with me having real bayonets on gear (As long as it's cable tied so it can't be pulled out to "chef mans" who don't call hits!) I wouldn't mind the thought of going through a kill house with a rubber knife stuck on a 20" m16 🤔1 point

Irrespective of whether members have been happy with their deals with him, many, me included, have questioned the validity of his ads. Such as claims the goods are new, but no warranty is given, & according to the forum rules, retailers/dealers aren't allowed, & all items are to be considered secondhand. As for his prices, they've often been shown to be equal to, or even higher than rrp, even though he'll try to claim otherwise.1 point -

I have been involved in airsoft for a little over 30 years, between that and my day job, my body is old and broken and I have expanded in girth. But I have no intention of stopping, merely adjusting. I am of the opinion now that I need to be slower and further from the action, so sniping is on the cards (maybe DMR in a ghillie) I am looking at the Novvi SSX303 (a Mk23 carbine) as a primary and maybe a Mk23 as a secondary for mag.compatability. My issue is previous Novvi experiences have been bad. The SSQ22 (KC02 copy) was awful and I don't fancy the disappointment again. Does anybody have firsthand experience with the SSX303? Will it work as a DMR / sniper platform? Are there comparable alternatives i should be considering for a stealthy option?1 point

It does seem a little Mack’s in my opinion. I agree he’s got a good rep on here. But it’s only a matter of time before we all end up on here 🤣 They were £500 new. Only came in black. He’s rattle canned it (which in my view devalues it). If he did a good job of stripping the paint off, or if he’d left it black, there’d be an argument that £500+ was fair, as it’s 1 of 1000 with a unique serial number.1 point -
A guy at my local site has the exact same issues as you (older, wider, and broken) and he uses an SSX303 as a DMR and loves it. His has the shot shell HPA adapter as @The_Lord_Poncho stated above as that makes carrying ammo a lot easier and a lot lighter. I personally don't like it because the trigger pull is horrible due to the double action trigger, and it's harder to cock the hammer (teehee) manually, but if you get the right parts they shoot well and with the HPA adapter they can be tuned very easily. Another popular option that goes more towards sniping (as it's a bolt action) would be a Tac41 lite. They're very light and very easy to carry, with a single extended mag holding 110rds you may even get away with not carrying any spare mags for it and just reload the mag between games.1 point

I've fortunately only seen it... twice over the almost 20 years I've been playing. Both times it's been over something incredibly stupid and trivial, and fortunately I've never actually had anyone throw a punch at me; being 6'5" definitely helps there, as the guy who squared up to me in that Vietnam game a few years ago did think better of it and walked away eventually. And you're totally right. Fisticuffs over BB wars is turbo-cringe.1 point
