Spotting a clone
nickel0001 and 8 others reacted to JimFromHorsham for a topic
With the clone wars stronger than ever I thought it might be an idea to have a thread based on how to spot what’s real and what’s not , to be clear this is not a clone bashing thread , but simply a way to hopefully help you get what is advertised , be it parts , optics , lasers/torches or maybe even RIF’s themselves . just because it says Aimpoint/Eotech/Magpul/Surefire doesn’t mean it is , even the packaging is being cloned to a high standard so don’t get get duped . I’ll start with a simple Magpul CTR stock in FDE , there will be better clones than others and I’ve picked a “Tak Tak” variant which retails at around £15-£20 in the UK VS a Gebuine CTR which retails around £75-£80 , the clone Says Magpul on it so in passing looks legit , the biggest tell is usually going to be the colour but as we know everyone’s photos and lighting looks a bit different and if you have nothing genuine to compare to when it arrives you are just taking the sellers word . heres a few comparisons , and highlighted differences between the two which should be easy to spot , Genuine is CTR is either Top or to the Left . main points to note - Genuine will have black tabs where the stock pad locates NOT TAN Genuine will have a molding mark on the underside , oval shaped . Genuine stock pad will have an “F” in the lower right hand side “pocket” Text spacing , the Genuine will be bolder and spaced correctly Length , generally the Clones will be a touch longer . Extra Text , the genuine will have extra text in the lower frame , plus batch / manufacturing numbers just above the locking lever . Hope this helps , as time permits I will add more comparisons .9 points -
The UK airsoft subreddit is basically - "Do I need UKARA?" - "What's better, a Specna or Cyma?" - "Do i need UKARA to buy a Specna or Cyma?" The big airsoft reddit isn't much better. Its a bit circlejerky and people say that their friend's sister's dogsitter did this thing once and it worked, so therefore must be gospel. I had someone argue with me that an TM NGRS 74 mag would fit an AK storm because they did it with their arcturus AK, when I literally had both guns and mags in front of me showing the opposite.5 points

There's always someone who'll sell rifs with little or no proof of a defence. Thing is though, they've played airsoft with them, the pics prove that, so I guess there's probably no issue, after the fact, as the yanks say ?🤔3 points -

Excellent result, perfectly reasonable by them, and you'll get support that way too. Good to see an MP5 out there rather than more M4 based PCCs, although he's dressed it up to look like an M4.2 points -
Retailer and site = same owners, they were happy that we had played at their site already (renter's) and booked to play again this weekend just gone! As long as they are happy they have covered themselves as the ukara is only a defense for the retailer then we were happy to spend money with them and support a local business rather than buying on-line 👍 every ones happy and we have nice pew pews 🤣🥰2 points

Definitely the right way to go. While it's more expensive it means you can get a better idea of what suits your playing style (eg a long rifle rather than a SMG/carbine) and if the site has different models for rentals you can try them to see what you prefer. Also you'll get a chance to see what others are using and talk to them about it, the hardest thing will be getting them to stop talking😁. They might even let you fire off a few shots if you ask nicely. For your nearest site try here https://playairsoft.uk/ Out of the three you listed I'd go for either of the Specna arms. While the cyma 5xx range will perform well enough to be used in game the plastic body is far lower quality and breaks way easier. When mine went it was several parts and was cheaper replace the whole thing Unless you're playing cqb don't bother with .2g bbs. As others have posted .28g is the lightest you should consider. Just remember that your max fps will drop as the bb weight goes up. This is why sites should be talking in joules not fps for their limits but that's a whole different topic suitable for it's own thread. As for how much ammo to carry, that's down to personal preference as it depends how trigger happy you are and how much extra stuff you want to carry. I tend to start woodland games with 800 to 1000 rounds on me but I tend to only use roughly half per game, I figure it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I didn't see if it's already been asked and answered but have you also budgeted for the extra stuff like eye protection and spare batteries?1 point -

ICS tappet plate issue?
ButcherBill reacted to Skara for a topic
That indicates that either the nozzle is too long or the hop rubber lips are. Is the hop rubber stock? Borderline impossible, there is a guide on the right side of the gearbox the plate runs onto, it keeps the plate from bending and doing what you described. In any case the plate would have to bend so much it would snap in half regardless.1 point -

Does the sector plate have a flex to it? Is it possibly slipping off the sector gear pin before a full rotation?1 point -
If the above doesn't work use a hacksaw blade and cut a slot into the top then using a larger flat blade screwdriver you can then use it as a normal screw.1 point

Not since i've turned 18, I was obsessed with airsoft around 14,15, but wasn't able to own any cause my parents were kind of against it. But now that i can buy one myself I just really want to get hands on one as quickly as possible. I'm planning on going to a few games after exams in a few weeks before buying the gun. Didn't know you'd go through so much bbs in an hour, I'll definetely go to a few games to get more experience before breaking the bank.1 point

You could try tapping a torx bit in to it, they're tapered slightly so go with the next size up that the Allen key was. Probably a good idea to try to get some wd40 or similar in to the thread for an hour before. Failing that, you may have to drill it out, not sure you'll find an "eazyout" kit that small though.1 point

Agreeing with all of the above. good quality 0.28g BBs will be one of the most effective 'upgrades' that you can do to improve accuracy and range (and help punch through light vegetation). 0.25s at a pinch. in relation to the number of magazines you are getting, obviously it depends how itchy your trigger finger is and how fast paced a particular game is. I tend to use semi auto only, and range between using 3 x 140rd mid cap mags to 6 mags for an hours woodland game. If your gun comes with a hi cap, then that obviously gives you a bit extra (i tend to brim a hi cap, and leave it as my reserve mag), and hi-caps can very easily be filled from a bag of BBs mid game if necesary too.1 point -
That nozzle bouncing back and forth doesn't look normal, but it could be me. If you turn the gun upside down and place a bb on the feed tube (without pushing it down) and fire a shot, does it drop in the right position?1 point

Is the gun ICS oem or you just happen to have a ICS plate? Judging by the length of the stock nozzle I guess it's the former. Are you using a delayer chip of any kind? Tappet plates do wear out with time, the front of the fin (the only part that touches the sector gear, at least in theory) gets hammered with each cycle and some manufacturers insist on making these out of cheese (ICS is one of them), so it could be worn out to the point it doesn't fully retract anymore which in turn prevents it from feeding. All of this happens more quickly with higher ROF guns. Get some pictures so we all can have a better understanding of what's going on.1 point

The CM.5xx range is made of nasty feeling plastic. They work fine, and I see they come with rotary hops now, but they're no-frills basic guns. The Specnas have much nicer plastic bodies, quick change springs (handy for tuning the power) and well featured fire control systems with burst fire and pre-cocking, which are fun and useful. 0.2g is fine for indoors, but outdoors you'll want to use the heaviest BBs that your budget can stand and your hop unit can lift. I tend to run 0.28g, some go heavier. Just checking: have you played yet? I'd rent at least once before committing to any purchases, and wait for the adrenaline rush to die off and the bruises to show before you break out the credit card. (I mean, I say that, I didn't do it, but... )1 point -
Good spring pistol
Rogerborg reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
For pure target practice, and assuming that your garden is sufficiently sized/orientated to mitigate additional hazard from the higher joules output, you might want to instead look the direction of .177 pistols. Plenty of semi auto (co2 powered) .177 steel BB firing pistols (which are generally reasonably accurate, at least in comparison to plastic BB firers), and even semi auto .177 lead pellet firers with rifled barrels.1 point -

Yeah it is a shame. I've seen lots of forums gonover the years. Some were still a hive of activity. UKAZ & zeroin were the other places to be. But UKAZ disappeared no warning. And zeroin how knows... Other than this forum, only leaves a few small ones. And the big American forum went last year too. For me it's a shame. As I always find the forums far easier to navigate and find threads. Without having to scroll past hundreds of posts. When fb started banning groups, I was really shocked that the forums didn't take off again.1 point -

Thnaks for the advice all - much appreciated!! Decisions were made on friday eveing- cash was parted with and we played a full day at our local skirmish site Saturday! Both son and I happy with purchases made! I went with a Nuprol Delta Recon with long barrel with 2 high cap mags, son chose a JG MP5 with rectraclebe stock that came with 1 x high cap mag and we got him a spare and once we had a few niggles sorted both preformed very well! Had a great day and got some hits in (took quite a few though to be fair) 🤣1 point

The guy(s) she tells you not to worry about & for a bit of brevity [because it feels like I keep posting the same images] my mate's LCT RPK-74: (yes, it's the one from the video & yes, after waiting on the list for a few months on Monday he found out it was completely fucked on the inside after Luke took a look at it which ended up with a new LCT casing, new mosfet, gears etc so it cost a fortune lol)1 point -
