The rules of engagement prevent speedy boi style of play. You're allowed to run HPA pistols on M4 mags but trigger spamming and pre-emptive firing will get you on the wrong side of the marshals. It's about 70 acres of land and they have a cap on the players they allow on the field based on the number of marshals they have booked in. They do a variation of games such as "total war" in the morning with set objectives for the morning session then in the afternoon, they split it into two 50-minute games with attacker and defender roles swapped. Redcon-2 also has milsim events every month or so. Edited April 29 by Galvatron Tackle

Darthwhite8
Ditto, it was a new one for me and I didn't think I'd like it but it actually works well from a gameplay POV. Makes camping far less effective and tends to help things flow. Not a rule for all games but made a nice change

Skara
Sad day... The Lonex flash magazines i used almost every single game day and tournament since 2016 finally died.. Today i broke three out of the four survivors... Fixing them is not worth it so i ordered a box of 5, hopefully they'll last just as long. Games went well, 9 people on the field, fun was had, dsg sniping was on point and got to test an arm mounted map pouch before the upcoming 27h game in two weeks (spoiler alert: it's a useful torture device). Impulse
I had a cracking day today at Worthing Airsoft. Not only did I get out of the safe zone today, but I was out properly on time! All my mags were loaded with BBs and gas, and I had managed to adjust the power on my Kar98k up to 2.3J, as the last time I used it was years ago at 1.1J. However, since I bought the Tanaka G33/40 (the mountaineer, shorter version of the Kar98k) and run that at 1.1J with iron sights, my full length PPS Kar98k now has a lovely scope on it and is a proper sniper rifle using a real-steel scope mount. Got it up to about 2.1J and left it there because that was fine and it was shooting really well, even though I do really need to change out the hop rubber and barrel at some point. I was also using my superduper lightweight setup with the Aliexpress velcro belt (it worked really well...), but that did mean I only had 40 shots for my rifle (4x 10rd Kar98k mags). I also decided to use no ghillie and no camo clothing at all, because there are already a LOT of ghillies showing up and there's part of me that wants to just say "you need a ghillie to stay hidden? Skill issue", so the OD Österreich Bundesheer summer kit came out to see just how much I could get away with. It was a lot 😂 Anyway, first game was a simple flip can game and... we got steamrolled. Nobody was playing aggressively to the point where one of my friends had to shame a group of rentals into pushing up after me and him were the front line, me with my 30m MED bolt action and him with a 1.1J lever action. Second game we got let out 3 seconds early to help us not get steamrolled again. I ran (yes, I RAN!) to my spot and there were people already there somehow, so while we got let out early, they must've been let out even earlier! We lost this game too, though at least with this one I managed to burn through basically all of my magazines after respawning. I took another position and terrorised a very busy structure that people love to use as cover; I had a pretty clear line of sight to it at an angle that made it super easy to hit people every time they tried to peek out. Had to ration my ammo and I had a player looking directly at me for about 20 mins, unable to locate where I was shooting from. In my no-camo setup, shooting a wood stocked, unsuppressed, gas Kar98k. When the marshall called 2 mins left and I still had 1 and a half mags left, I decided to shoot the guy who was trying to find me and got him square on the goggles with the first shot. Should've done that earlier 🤣 Next game was Star Wars themed. We had 3 bounty hunters walking around in proper Mandalorian style armour that we had to turn in "bounties" to; they would also shoot anyone who tried to camp them and had juggernaut rules themselves, to dissuade a team from trying to follow them around and stop the other team from getting anywhere near. The "bounties" were a bunch of plushies (I think?) that were hidden around the site. I only played half of this game though, because I realised my hop wasn't hopping like I wanted it and I didn't have a screwdriver out with me to adjust the hop. I wandered around trying to find stuff to do, but they put the objectives at the bottom of the site. With a 30m MED, there's no point me going to the bottom of the site as it is wildly overgrown and is unplayable for me. When I then saw my shots weren't hopping how I wanted, I just decided to head back to the safe zone to set that up. I managed to get it shooting phenomenally well, but I decided to grab an early lunch and have a chat with some of the guys in the safe zone rather than go out. After lunch we played a game where we had to find Darth Vader's helmet, take it to a base and defend that base for a set amount of time. What steam the blues had from the morning had completely gone, and us yellows managed to absolutely dominate this game. It got to the point where a bunch of us were moved off by the marshalls because while we weren't spawncamping them, we had them pinned in one part of the site and they just couldn't break through our lines. I didn't do much this game apart from relay enemy positions. I did get a few crispy shots with the Kar98k, but with my ammo scarcity I was being careful with my shots so I wasn't taking many shots that I wasn't confident I could hit like I might normally with more ammo. 10rd magazines don't last long, see? After this game we played... the most fun game of the day. It was a silly idea one of the head marshalls had where he put three flip cans in a line, and had marshalls standing in a line with them. You could not cross this line and anyone on the other side of the line was an enemy. Why is that distinction important? Because when you were hit, there were no medic rules and you went back to respawn... on the other team. Yes, when you were hit, you joined the enemy team, so you either won by having all three flip cans with your team's colour, or by killing the entire enemy team off. There were so many laughs and this game was absolute gold, though the flip can colour did get very confusing, to the point where one of the regulars managed to crawl all the way up to it... only to flip them to the enemy team's colour, then put them back to neutral when we all yelled at him. It was a really funny game, though the flip can colour was a bit confusing which the marshall admitted. However, the best way to test these games out is to play them, and we all had a massive laugh with it. It was so much fun! Last game of the day was a classic 3 base domination. Not too much to say about it, but it worked well, especially since numbers were down by this point as some people had definitely gone home by this point. Maybe they wanted to beat the traffic as Brighton were playing at home (and yes, we got stuck in football traffic on the way back...), but it went well enough. I got into a really cheeky spot shooting down a main path, but eventually had to move off when a load of people realised where I was and started hosing the barricade with a LOT of BBs. I'm just glad I managed to disengage well enough to avoid getting hit, as in that situation that was the best thing I could do. I also managed to do it without some people realising, so they spent the next 10 - 15 mins continuing to hose that area with BBs despite me being long gone. Sometimes, just leaving the enemy team guessing about your location is better than standing your ground and getting hit. Anyway, I had a lot of fun today. Learning point is that I need to swap my rifle mag pouches and my utility pouch, because having all my rifle mags and pistol mags next to each other means all the weight is on one side and it bounced about a bit. Never even came close to coming loose though, but I think it'll be more comfortable to have the weight a bit more even. Will test next game day. Reef
On Sunday I had my first game at Worthing Airsoft. I was joined by my Son and a friend who has just started airsoft. I won’t go into detail as Impulse has covered it well @Impulsei was admiring the wooden Kar98, if I’d realised it was you I would have come over and said hi. What a great site with a real community feel. I’m not sure who was having more fun, us or the Marshalls. The car park in pretty much in the safe zone so we opted to set up our base in my van. This meant we didn’t have to carry gear about, very different to Apocalypse 😂. Really enjoyed the games, a mixture of classic games and theme based ones kept it interesting. I was in a bush right next to can flip incident impulse mentioned above and have never laughed so much during a game. The site is a good mix of dense scrub which is great for creeping around with a pistol, and standard Sussex woodland. Interesting structures well laid out, not over the top like some sites. The skeleton in the chapel made me jump and got a few rounds! The burger was great, although it would have been nice to have chocolate/snacks available to buy, free tea and coffee though so can’t complain. My SA80 performed really well but my VSR10 was adequate, nowhere near the joule I was expecting which meant the gusty wind made long shots difficult. I think this will be my regular site now and look forward to being more active in the actual game play once I familiarise myself with the site layout. Colin Allen
Worthing sounds like a really good site! It is just a pity that it is rather too far away. No airsoft for me yesterday as I had other things to do; however, this morning I went to the boot fair at Splatoon, which was very good, especially as I sold most of what I took and came back with £500 in my wallet. Baser
Great day out at Invicta Woodlands. Usual good vibes, some great weapons and tactics deployed, highlight was a HPA M249 LMG with a steam/flash/tracer device on the front of it, you could hear it firing across the field, such a distinctive sound. The guy running it had to go out and reload a couple of times mid game, that’s a lot of ammo given the 2500 BB’s in a box mag. The ghillie snipers taking to the (literal) swamp to flank was exceptionally good work! Played 4 games, capture the flag and hold the base/location, swapping spawns to give both teams the same advantages/disadvantages. Was close until the last game when a few of the red team went home (or we ran out of steam and blew it). Took my recently purchased and rebuilt boneyard Cyma MP5 which shot admirably for its first day on the field with me. Chronoed right at the field limit and shot laser straight. I took the 1200 round drum mag and used it for the first game but switched back to mid caps for the other games as just blasting away on full auto is fun but not very tactical and I found it took something from the game? Usual few not taking their hits and there seemed to be a few players with very long range DMR’s who were impossible to hit back, even though I was right at the max limit on the chrono, 340 vs 400fps makes a difference but it felt like a bigger distance than usual. Food truck was ace, bacon, sausage and hash brown roll for brekkie and a burger with chips made a great lunch. Bought a mock suppressor for the MP5 from platoon stores on site just to add to the look. Overall throughly enjoyed, thanks to AJ and the team! The worst part of the site is the fact it can be a bit too overgrown (good luck using something with an MED without knowing the site well, especially during summer) and there's lots of brambles around, but pretty much everything else is excellently run and managed and the marshall team are very, very experienced. It's one of the old sites, been around for a long, long time. I started there in 2005ish when it was still run by Tom Andrews (rest in peace, absolute legend of a man), and the two current owners were both there when I first started when I was barely a teenager; one as a marshall, the other as a player. LMKipper Posted Thursday at 07:46 Share Posted Thursday at 07:46 Went to an evening game at the Invicta Black Site with @VictorFourTwo as a bit of a warm up ahead of an urban battlesim this weekend. As mostly woodland players, we just wanted a bit of a shake down. It was little bit of a mixed bag from my perspective, entirely because of one player, but we had a pretty good time anyway. Games were quite simple: first two games were domination with illuminated coloured beacons. Turn red on if you're red, blue if you're blue etc. Second game there were red and blue beacons dotted around the floor, and you had to retrieve them then bring them back to the spawn. From the outset, I was worried the traffic might be one way. Black site is a small, tight CQB arena with no lighting and lots of dead ends/cut throughts, so knowing your way around is huge advantage. All of the regulars set up on one table, then they all got put on the red team. But of a dud move from the folks running it in my opinion. The domination game did end up that way, with all the regulars knowing the sneaky little places to hide and pretty much locking us in the spawn for 10 minutes, but the second game that involved more movement was closely matched. There was also one regular who accused me of not taking my hits twice, which was a bit lame to be honest then whinged I was 'slow' to take one later one. In the penultimate game of the evening, the same player did the nonchalant dead player style walk past a few of us then shot us in the back. Again, just a bit lame really - genuinely never seen the point of doing that and it just tempts other people into shooting everyone they see just in case. It was only my second time there and said player was there both times. I think I'd give it another go but if that player is there again, acting the same way, that would be it for me. Supporters Rogerborg Posted Sunday at 20:09 Supporters Share Posted Sunday at 20:09 A relaxed, good natured, Semi-Auto Sunday at Area-66. Not packed out as they had a regular day on Saturday, which tends to split the playerbase up a bit. So more opportunities to push and flank without getting lit up by half a dozen people, a welcome change on a smallish site. Some minor drama when the lasgun started double-shooting on 11.1V (after a rebuild/shim/lube), something that two marshals immediately pounced on - exactly what you want at a site. Dropping to 7.4V sorted it out, and it was all smiles and dying for the Emperor from there. pyromancer6, Galvatron, Cannonfodder and 1 other
Popular Post Cannonfodder Posted Sunday at 20:27 Popular Post Share Posted Sunday at 20:27 Another excellent afternoon at Rift's Blackstone site. There were a few moans about 1 player but I didn't see anything personally so I can't comment either way. Numbers were low at only 6 or 7 a side so even with the small size of the site there were plenty of opportunities for some sneaky shenanigans. Also my new mp7 worked great and was alot of fun, it might just be a case of new pew syndrome but it's quickly become my favourite gun. The only problem I had that I didn't but more mags😁 All in all a great day Jacob Wright, ButcherBill, Colin Allen and 2 others
Colin Allen Posted Sunday at 21:15 Share Posted Sunday at 21:15 Today's plastic slinging adventures took place at my most favoured haunt, Airsoft Plantation, in deepest and sunniest Essex. The safe zone was busy, but not over crowded, with probably about 160 people present. I was also using the day to try 0.30g BBs having found some in the cupboard. The first game involved us, as the attackers, starting at the DEA Base, with our first objective being to obtain an ammo box, containing four smoke grenades and information on where they were to be set off in the village, from the hill fort on the edge of the mortar pits. We had infinite regens on a buddy after a 30m fallback, while the defenders had one life in the mortar pits and two in the village. Our assault on the mortar pits went well and the ammo box was soon obtained from the hill fort; having wiped out everyone in the mortar pits, we set off to blow up the four targets in the village. At least, that was the intention; the reality was that those of our team escorting the bomber somewhat lost track of their mission as they were rather enjoying the firefights. The group that I was with swung around the village to attack it from the rear, which went well, and we soon pushed into it, taking a series of buildings from that side. Eventually, our bomber remembered his mission and disposed of the targets, albeit with something of a lack of urgency. After a short break to reload and take on fluids, we set out to reverse the game. Initially, I took up a position near the hill fort and picked off a fair few attackers before I got a nice little dink to the head, which left me with a headache for about an hour. Falling back into the village outskirts, where we held up the enemy attack for a while, I was hit again and fell further back to the rear of the village, where I concealed myself in a bush. This paid off as I spotted the bomber and his escort sneaking through the woods at the back of the village and took them all out; 0.30g BBs do cut through foliage rather well. Changing position, I engaged other attackers trying to sneak around the back, but was eventually hit again and went back to the safe zone. The next game involved ten of the players on our team, including me, being held hostage in the mortar pits. The hostage takers had one life each, while our potential liberators had infinite buddy regens after a 30m fallback. Our comrades had to rescue us without killing us; our captors were not allowed to kill us. Six of us were held captive in the bunker, where we enjoyed the banter with our captors and even more enjoyed seeing them get killed. Eventually, our rescuers arrived and we were escorted back to the plane at the DEA base; all ten hostages were rescued, which was excellent! Lucheon followed, during which a number of players left as they were struggling with the heat. Once everyone had dined and taken on more fluids, we set out for the woods for a fallback game. As the defenders, we had one life in the woods, one in the village and the final one in the mortar pits. The attackers had infinite buddy regens and had to set off bombs on the border bridge, in the well in the village and in the bunker in the mortar pits. Before this game started, there was a quick head count of both sides; the site owner failed to count me as he initially did not notice me sitting against a bush, despite only being about 6m away. When he did eventually notice me, he took a photo. Flecktarn, combined with an ability to remain very still, is very good in woods. I wandered over to our far left, where I potted several attackers before deciding that the best thing to do was to remain hidden and then sneak up behind the enemy once they had passed my position. This was very enjoyable as I took out several attackers before eventually being hit; while I was chatting to the guys who got me, they were all hit by another of our players who had done the same as I. Passing through their lines, I took up a position at the edge of the village, where we put up a good fight. I was eventually hit and fell back to the mortar pits, where I was again hit, sending me back to the safe zone again. A lot of players left after this game as they were really feeling the heat, so the reverse of it was played with far fewer numbers. We cleared the woods and blew up the border bridge rather quickly, but got bogged down taking the village and the mortar pits, with the game timing out before we could blow up the bunker. It was a very good, although very hot, day of airsoft, which was played in a good spirit, although there was a bit of whinging after lunch, which seems normal at every site I have played at. As usual, I had planned to use two rifles, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. However, the afternoon one was not happy with the battery I had brought for it and was over spinning, so I had to use just the one rifle. I was delighted to find that a 1600mAh LiFe battery can last all day. I will probably continue to use 0.30g BBs. Skara
Tournament yesterday. 5 objectives, the first started off REALLY bad, i brought my thermal optic because the temperature was low enough for it to work, and it did, had no issues finding defenders "hidden" among vegetation. The bad part was the last defender, who took out 3 teammates, i spotted him on my thermal, shot him, saw him flinch through the optic, then after a full high cap dumped on his side, he turned and shot me.... Luckily i had two other teammates remaining who shot him so much he had to call the hit. This was the only instance, everyone else on the organisation side was very honest (or at least they appear as such), actual objectives were really cool and although we didn't complete everything at 100%, we had an awful lot of fun. Final leaderboard isn't out yet, but talking to the strongest team we appear to be just 100 points behind them, which is a very low number, it's either a 2nd place or a third in the worst case. Kit used: DSG speedy boy thing + thermal Mayflower chest rig Pentagon backpack Frv belt. This week we also have a 30h game and it's going to be hell (35km expected, probably more) and the weather forecast isn't the best... Galvatron
I had a bit of a scorcher yesterday playing at RIFT's reopening of the Ridge (until it truly closes again). The booking page was open about there being no hot food available on the day so we were advised to bring our own food along - the cooking facilities were reserved for Redcon. Bottled water along with canned and hot drinks were available along with some snacks. The host also ran the White Sphere Tactical pop-up shop with a Specna Arms replica of an HK 416 being the prize for the Sunday raffle. The land owner had removed the portaloo so we had to make do with a single chemical camping toilet in a tipi tent. There were no feral players so nobody made a crime scene of the toilet and didn't clean up behind themselves. With the lack of rain recently, the ground was mostly dry with some clay dust being blown about by the wind. There were still a few spots where there was deep wet clay you could lose your boots in if they weren't laced up properly. A couple of rentals got a gentle reminder to limit their full auto shooting to a 2 second burst and there was one player who rightly got two bollockings and a final warning for taking off his eye pro in the gaming area. About 70 players were split into Blue and Red teams. The morning "Total War" session had Blue vs Red team dropping their opponent's flag and keeping theirs raised/raising theirs at the bases across the site. Blue was able to gain an advantage early both through strategy and an imbalance of players as several Red players returned to the safe zone early to hydrate so they could pin Red team to its starting and forward respawns within the first hour. In the interest of keeping the game alive, Blue team agreed to fall back to allow Red team to push again but Blue team was more organised and had a sizeable group of players who maintained a strong strategy and communications. Some players were switched in an effort to offer some balance ahead of the afternoon session, also forced by some players sitting out either entirely for the afternoon or for the final game as the heat took its toll on some of the players. The afternoon was two 50 minute games. First, Red team were attacking with the objective of recovering gold bricks from 3 locations and returning to their HQ (different area from their respawn) where after 25 minutes, Blue were allowed to attack Red's HQ and drop their flag. Red team could raise their flag again provided they weren't hit in the process but if they failed to do that by the end of the 50 minutes, their score would be nullified - the flag was kept up at as the whistle blew. For the second 50 minute game, the roles were reversed so Blue team attacked and outscored Red with the gold bricks collected and returned to HQ within the first half so Red team was forced to attack Blue team's HQ and drop and keep down the flag by the end of the game to nullify Blue team's collection. I didn't actually catch if Blue successfully defended their HQ or not but I'm under the impression they did and thus won the afternoon session. It was a very hot but good day of play without much (that I could see or hear) bickering between opposing sides. I fielded a Specna Arms SA-G12 EBB as my primary with a WE Hi-Capa 4.3 as my sidearm.
